Live From the Styleetron - Raw Fusion (CD 1991)

My sister used to have this on cassette and I used to lift it from her room and ride around in my friends car to listen to it. Even though most people always want to throw away their past and pretend that they never lived it, thinking that they are maturing and evolving, I know that this type of philosophy is garbage. The Digital Uderground will always be remembered and probably still put out albums until they are physically dead and just listening to their music brings back good vibes and playful lyricism. Compared to the rap music and the music that claims to be hip hop, Raw Fusions' album/ CD satisfies all the necessary elements which make a hip hop CD classic as well as fun to listen to, and even though the lyrics and styles are playful and fun the texture is very serious and the beats are flavorful and on point. I think Money B. is indeed one of the most slept on MC's from back in the day and now, and his voice is dope and his lyrics are clever. DJ Fuze always comes with raw slices and his production is definitely " one to grow on" for upcoming producers ( Digital Underground were and are definitely the forerunners of the West Coast funk sound along with Above the Law and Def Jef { also Rodney O. and Joe Cooley} ).
This disc made me feel good, plus I dig the production and the mental philosophy that Money B. had during 1991-92. This disc also features an early track appearance by the late? Tupac Shakur and he was coming with heat on his lines. I am definitely glad I have rediscovered this disc and I recommend it to any purists who want early West Coast flavor. Peace !
