One of my Favorite Live Recordings
If you like Raw Live performances you'll love this CD. This rough, tough and rowdy live album brings together 14 recordings from Aerosmith's 1977-78 tour. You may not enjoy every song but there are more than enough songs that kick ass. This is a great live album that was never messed with in the studio. If you want to hear an old school 70's show at it's rowdiest this is it. Of course it's not perfect, it's not supposed to be, a true live performance.

Even though this is recorded during the heydays of their drug use,this is some of their Intimate recordings.Especially, the recording of the Beatles song "Come Together".Even though the liner notes says that"We kept this gig so secret,nobody showed up but us"(Waltham, Ma.)That is where I was raised and myself and friends use to hang out outside the "Wherehouse"One night in particular,Steven Tyler came out of the building(with a boombox over his shoulder and danced his way over to me and my friends and said "Hail-Hail the gangs all here"!!On another occasion,Joe Perry came out and jumped into his Porsche,and It wouldn't start.So, me and my friends gave him a push so he could jumpstart the car.

This is excellent, raw, live, real Aerosmith. It doesn't get any better than this. This live recording includes some of Aerosmith's greatest hits while including some of their most brilliant songs, that for one reason or another went unnoticed in the mainstream. This is edgy. You get a clear picture of why Aerosmith, fronted by the Toxic Twins, Tyler and Perry, rose to stardom!

There are two types of Aerosmith fans: those who love the band's old, 70s blues infused rock and roll stuff, and those who prefer their more calculated pop rock catalog that began with 1987's Permanent Vacation, and continued right up through 2001's Just Push Play (the band's 2004 covers album, Honkin' on Bobo, doesn't really fit into either, despite it's "back to our roots" claims...that being said, it kicks a*s, and is highly recommended). Live Bootleg was a tongue-in-cheek effort to beat the bootleggers at their own game. The cover was decidedly amateur looking and came complete with a lovely coffee mug stain. Very good. Musically, it is absolutely crammed to bursting with classics. The performances here come from a period when Aerosmith were visibly exhausted and suffering the effects of prolonged alcohol and drug abuse. It is fair to say that things don't really sound as polished as they should for the most part. 'Back in the Saddle' is stormingly good and leads straight into the familiar 'Sweet Emotion' chords. Aerosmith Live Bootleg was originally released as a double LP in late 1979. Contained here are 16 live performances mostly dating from their 1977 and 1978 US tours. By this point in time, Smith had climbed to the top of the rock tree (in America at least), on the strength of a string of superb, straight ahead heavy rock albums and their relentless touring schedule. Edited 3-26-00 (Steven Tyler s 52nd birthday) After five albums, Aerosmith's struggles in the studio were increasing. There was also a growing rift between Joe Perry and Steven Tyler. The band's ceaseless touring caused them to have difficulties sparking the creativity for new songs. The album Draw the Line was released much later than expected because of Tyler's difficulty with writing new lyrics. Since it was obvious that the band needed a break and was not going to complete an album for 1978, this double LP was released. The band members did not want the album to sound like every other...
