Beatles are amazing!

A bare bones look at the early Beatles. Relaxed, no overdubbing...they were such a very good band, even then. I'm collecting all the Beatles music I can.

 Beatles Live at the BBC

What can you say about this CD. It's the Beatles! We discovered recently that the copy my husband has had for a couple of years was messed up pretty bad and would not play. The finish on the CD was coming off in places and in the places that it was coming off it would not play the music. I bought the CD to replace the one that was messed up.

I would say this album is a must for a fan that enjoys hearing the songs that do not have the finished production organization. The songs are bit more raw, which gives the listener insight into the Beatles immense talent. I would say this compilation album is not as good as Anthology 1 but very good still. The liner notes are pretty information filled and have some good pictures, but again the Anthology 1 is better. I would say if you enjoy hearing songs and cuts of songs that are not on albums you would enjoy listening to this compilation.

Great songs that I've never heard the Beatles sing before, also love hearing interviews with them, they still sound so fresh and funny 40 years later. Great CD!

Live @ BBC is a treasure...

It's one of my favourite Beatles LP. well, i really like it and recommend it to all Beatles fans. this is what these talented guys sounded like in a personal venue: a room at the BBC rather than studio and lots of over-dubs. They are so talented. Lennon's voice is so strong.

This CD is Fab 4 you!

I LOVE this CD! It has so many energetic, raw, spunky, fun tunes on it. Tons of 50's influence, tons of covers of the bands they loved most. The Beatles pack liveliness into every song. They're having fun. The interview clips dispersed throughout are evidence of their humor and spontaneity too. So many catchy tunes. Fun, fun stuff!

Live At The BBC or: oh no, not another Beatles review!
Review created: 03/08/05
by: brendan2 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
it's the Beatles - live! lots of unreleased gems, 48-page booklet

Cons:
sound quality isn't up to today's standards

This review is for Angela. Hope you like. Heh, it looks like a bowtie! ...Thus ends the worst opening of a review ever. Between March 1962 and June 1965, the Beatles appeared on 52 radio programmes for the BBC and performed 88 songs, 36 of which were never commercially released. For years, it was possible to get these songs as bootlegs taped from the original BBC radio programmes in the 1960s but, as you can imagine, the sound quality was pretty awful. So in 1994, producer George Martin set about compiling the best of the songs and digitally remastering them. The result, Live At The BBC, is..

The Beatles Live At The Beeb!!!
Review created: 09/02/01
by: sparkospunky -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Great live performances, mostly covers of artists that The Beatles admired

Cons:
Can't name a one!

Between March of 1962 and June of 1965, The Beatles appeared on fifty-two BBC radio programs and sang a total of eighty-eight different songs. In 1994, George Martin was commissioned to compile and digitally remaster many of these songs, and the result was Live At The BBC-The Beatles. This is a very important collection for any fan of The Beatles--for that matter, it's an important collection for any student of rock 'n roll music. Live At The BBC-The Beatles is not so much a Beatles' album as it as a collection of music of the artists that influenced them as musicians and songwriters. The...

Sometimes, plundering the vaults isn't so bad
Review created: 11/26/01
by: HawgWyld -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Great recordings from a venue a lot of people have forgotten

Cons:
Might be a bit much for some people

While it's true that there has been a lot of junk released from various times in the Beatles' career, this is one of those things that's great to have around. For example, I've got a "Silver Beatles" CD around here that's just plain awful, and I've seen some other "off-brand" stuff that's kind of a waste of time. However, this two-disc collection is a true gem. While some might argue that it's merely another cynical exercise in plundering the vaults for no other reason than to make a fast buck, I enjoy this bit of Beatles history. Many people don't realize the Beatles recorded a hell of a lot.

 True Beatles
Review created: 06/28/03
by: bittenbboo -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Variety of early songs, historical value.

Cons:
Sound quality can be spotty.

"The next few minutes are in the laps of the gods and the hands of the Beatles," says one presenter at the beginning of this album. "Live at the BBC" provides something that even the greatest Beatles album can't- a candid look at the four members themselves. This collection of radio numbers is more than a window to the early days of Beatles music; it's a portrait of John, Paul, George, and Ringo. Through a collection of interview snippets, placed sporadically in with the music, we see the quartet as not the music deities they are now, but four guys who enjoy a rollicking good time. "Live at...

 The Beatles liven the BBC!
Review created: 02/09/06
by: weetoon -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Hey, it's the Beatles !
Cons:
Not as polished as later output . Mostly not their own songs.

First, let me make this clear: I LOVE the Beatles, and although by no means a specialist, I am a big fan. This album is quite different from the rest of the Beatles' albums, as it is not up to their usual studio recorded, very well produced standards. All the tracks were recorded during sessions the band did at the BBC in 1963/65. And while this format often leads to a lack of sound quality (although I guess no-one could have produced this better than George Martin himself), this is more than compensated by the sheer joy of being able to hear the Fab Ones live. We are offered a glimpse of the.
