This account of teenager killers Shirley Wolf and Cindy Collier by Joan Merriam is absolutely gutwrenching. At times, you feel so much anger and frustration at a system that failed two young girls, both victims of sexual and physical abuse by those who were supposed to love and protect them (parents); and, at other times, you feel disgust and outrage at the crime committed by these baby faced conspirators and wish to see them locked away forever.
Merriam does an excellent job of evoking emotion from the reader with this book. While sympathizing with the victim and her family in this book, readers are also subjected to the cold hard facts of what often leads killers down their murderous path.
I'd be very interested in reading an updated version of this story, it's that interesting!
