I like the first (White Flag) and second tracks, after that it gets a bit redundant. I believe that Dido is in a "Me-Myself-I" mind set like so many other celebrities. Wish she would spread out her focus.
This is a great CD and I like every song on it. I love Dido and really hope that she puts something new out there real soon. I'm having Dido withdrawal :)The first time that I ever heard her was on a commercial for insurance I think. She has a very unique sound and a style all of her own.
I was first sent a copy of this CD from an on-line friend. I thought it was damaged, as it skipped, so I set about looking for another one. My friend bought his copy he sent to me on ebay also. I was amazed at Dido's voice. She sings very uniquely and I have listened to this CD numerous times now. The CD that my friend sent to me was not damaged when he sent it, it just got dirty in time from all the times it was played. I then bought No Angel, another CD by Dido as I was hoping it would be as good as this one.. I do like it, but I prefer this one over it. Sheryle
I'd have to say this CD overall is not as good as her first. Songs (with the exception of White Flag) seemed bland and not very unique. Hoping for a better 3rd release.
I rated this on the song not on the CD. I spend so much time listening to just this song that when "White Flag" ends...I play it again...and again...and again.
It has gotten to the point to where when I go out and kareoke....this is my song!

Pros: Vocals, Atmosphere, Flowing sound of the music
Cons: Not much variety in styles
Although there is nothing quite as exuberant on British Singer/Songwriter Dido Armstrong's new release Life For Rent, as her performance of Feels Like Fire on Santana's showcase CD Shaman, this release is still a solid follow-up to her 1999 debut recording, No Angel. She continues to deliver her thrilling, whisper soft vocals within the framework of acoustically based electronic pop, with folk accents, and a hint of the richly atmospheric sound of Enya. Her evocative vocal style reflects shades of Sarah Mc Lachlan. Her straightforward, thoughtful, lyrics are beautifully...

Dido - Life For Rent, Drop What You're Doing, Go Get It Now

Pros: Whoa.
Cons: Speechless.
I have to admit, I was one of those chicks who didn't get all swept up in the "Dido" mania back in 2001 when Eminem's song, Stan, pushed her into the spotlight. Although I enjoyed her angelic voice, I just didn't find her album, No Angel, to be anything exciting for me. When I was handed, Life For Rent, I didn't listen to it. Four weeks went by and finally, I felt guilty enough to pop it in to my cd player. And I'm glad I did because obviously, one of us has changed in the past two years. Just so you know, this will go on my year end list, as one of the best releases of 2003. Yep. That's how..

Dido's Sophomore Album: Return of the "Blandinator"

Pros: Pleasant atmosphere throughout. Four very engaging and enjoyable tracks.
Cons: Gets very repetitive. Could use more spark and fire.
Recording a sophomore album must be an incredible challenge to any successful artist. With a massive-selling debut hanging around your neck, you get left with the options of either rushing out a follow-up or trying to do something completely different. Either way, you re looking at trouble. What s a multi-million selling singer/songwriter to do? If your name s Dido Armstrong, you do a mix of the two. Cleverly taking a year s sabbatical after the meteoric success of No Angel , she took the time to perfect her second album, slightly altering her debut and releasing it to equally huge results,...

Pros: Some terrific songs here
Cons: Some forgettable songs here
Dido's sophomore effort easily was one of this fall's most eagerly awaited records. In 2001, debut album's catchy, clever pop songs like 'Hunter', 'Here with Me', and, most importantly, 'Thank You' elevated the British pop baby straight to stardom with a long tail of radioplays. The fact Dido Armstrong actually became a star because, before it happened, Eminem rapped to the latter tune was graciously forgotten by everybody probably because her debut album was better than way overlong and overpretentious The EMINEM show . I mean it I'm still ready to listen to 'No Angel' any time. Couldn't say.

Dido Offers Life for Sale and It's Worth Every Penny

Pros: Unique sound, more upbeat than No Angel.
Cons: Most songs involving a guitar.
Who makes you feel the way that I make you feel? Who loves you and knows you the way I do? Who touches you and holds you quite like I do? Who makes you feel like I make you feel? Not many. Last time Dido released an album I was living in the greater San Francisco area, working for a now defunct dot com making twice as much money as I am today and I was dating this girl who liked the fact that I liked Dido who had this album called No Angel. Amazing how far we ve come. Fast forward past No Angel, pass Eminem, pass dot com crash, through new payroll job and dating, through engagement, marriage..
