Les Miserables is Just Plain Wonderful!

Pros: The music.
Cons: None that I can see.
I agree with another review, you have to get the 10th Anniversary edition of this recording if you want the best. I listened to samples of all of the recordings online, before I bought the 10th Anniversary edition. It has the best music, by the best singers, and can only be described as "awesome." Although Colm Wilkinson is wonderful as Jean Valjean, and Ruthie Henshall is a delicate and beautiful Fantine, I think that it's the Innkeeper Thenardier and his wife that steal the show. They are played by Alun Armstrong and Jenny Galloway, and their rolicking version of "Master of the House" has...

Pros: Cast, Production Quality, Amount of music
Cons: No Frances Ruffelle as Eponine (although Lea Salonga is a fine substitute).
It seems that producer Cameron mackintosh has inundated the world with Les Miserables cast recordings. In the English speaking world alone there is the Original London Cast, Broadway cast, The Symphonic Version (which contains every note

Pros: It's Les Miz! Beautiful, timeless. Comes with lyrics
Cons: it's just a recording. I want to see the stage production!
Les Miserables: the original london cast is a CD that all music lovers should own. Once you hear the powerful, emotional music and understand the characters and their story, I'd be surprised if Les Mis didn't become one of your favorite CDs. I first heard this recording on tape before I went out and bought the double-CD set. And when I first got it, I listened to it over and over. I think the Original London Cast is better than the 10th Anniversary Edition, which I thought sounded "flat" or "dull". In addition, the Original London cast edition comes with the "Love Montage" which the 10th...

Pros: It is a wonderful story
Cons: It is very depressing
Les Mis is my favorite musical. I get so excited when I find out that it is coming to my town. The music is mesmerizing. You can really follow the story by just listening to the music. I actually see the play in my head when I listen to my CD. I think the story is wonderful, too. It makes one want to find out more about the French Revolution, and relate the stories of truth, to the stories of this musical. I believe everyone at some point in life should listen to the music of Les Mis and try to understand what actually happened to the people of that time.

Pros: Outstanding music and lyrics
Cons: None
Les Mis rables is without doubt the best musical I've ever seen. A (more or less) faithful adaptation of Victor Hugo's extraordinary tale of life in post-revolutionary France, the show and this CD set bring the story to life with beautiful, heartrending music. Some personal favorites are "At the End of the Day," "Do You Hear the People Sing?" and of course the hilarious "Master of the House." The lyrics articulate so perfectly the message that Hugo was trying to communicate and convey the spirit of his tale wonderfully. The musical itself is extraordinary, and this set is perhaps the best of..
