  Even Better Than LedZep I?
Review created: 05/06/08

With the second album, Zeppelin expounded upon the rock mastery it authored in the debut record. They stayed a few years ahead of everyone else with every release.

Led Zeppelin II - This album really started the band on their historic run. The first album was really good and then before you could catch your breathe, this one came out. This couldn't happen today. This album is very raw and original. What a great sound, what great songs, what a great CD. Buy it!

  The Greatest of all Time
Review created: 01/07/08

Looser than other Led Zeppelin you really get to hear the creativity of the band members in this album. What a band! J.P.J. Really rocks out on bass in this album. It is hard to find anything comparable to it on the market. Most of all modern rock was effected by this album. Led Zeppelin's show at that time marked the beginning of a new era of live Rock and Led Zeppelin II is the best studio live sounding recordings they did during that era.

I love Led Leppelin, I gruw up in that aira and still enjoy the old school rock and roll. Thay are the insporation behind some of the ground braking rock and roll that has risen up on the hells of what Led Zeppelin was doing back in the 60's and 70's and still is the No. 1 band of all time.

  Zeppelin soars on II
Review created: 11/14/06

Led Zeppelin's second studio album gives us an idea of how much we were to get from these guys over the next years. They sound young and very mischievous, especially on songs like the unbelievable "Whole Lotta Love," and the downright nasty "Lemon Song." This stuff set a new tone in heavy metal that still has an impact today. Pages rapid-fire solo on "Heartbreaker" is considered one of the best of all time. This a very entertaining CD that overflows with obvious blues and jazz influences which the musicians handle well. With Plant's girlish wailing and Bonzo's manic percussion, plus Pages speedy antics that were so fresh at the time, and Jones' settling influence on bass and keyboard, AND in the producers chair, you just can't miss with this original. I love it and give it 5/5.

Led Zeppelin: What Is and What Will Always Be
Review created: 01/25/05
by: lambchops-- a member of Epinions and Lead in Music

Pros:
Nine classic rock tunes...

Cons:
Not everybody owns it yet...

Led Zeppelin is the quintessential band of their era. Their music is timeless and enduring and translates just as well today as it did twenty five years ago. Most bands can only hope to achieve such transcendent fame. They represent everything that is great about hard rock. Hailing from England, Led Zeppelin formed as a result of ongoing collaborations between Jimmy Page (guitar) and John Paul Jones (bass). When the two met up with blues singer Robert Plant the seeds of Zeppelin were planted. The band's lineup was completed with the hiring of John Bonham on drums. First performing under the...

"...the Way Bass Guitar Should Be Played"
Review created: 01/13/04

Pros:
Great musicianship. Solid, classic songs. The Bass, the Bass, the Bass!!

Cons:
None.

Led Zeppelin. The name is a sentence unto itself. While many bands are loosely termed as legendary , this band personifies it. The music this band created during the time they were together has gone down in to the annals of rock history for the vast influence it has had over every musical act that has followed. Their second album, simply titled Led Zeppelin II, demonstrates just exactly why this band is regarded as it is. Tracks: 1. Whole Lotta Love 2. What Is And What Should Never Be 3. The Lemon Song 4. Thank You 5. Heartbreaker 6. Living Loving Maid (She s Just A Woman) 7. Ramble On 8....

British Invasion?! Well, I never! (My contribution to the British Invasion W/O)
Review created: 07/01/02

Pros:
This whole album is so darn good!

Cons:
This whole album is so darn good!

This is my contribution to Paul's (aka paulyoungotti) British Invasion writeoff. Enjoy the review. This past year has been a sad one in music, especially with the deaths of famous 60s/70s rock legends such as George Harrison of The Beatles and John Entwistle of The Who. The past year has also been a sad year in music, because there have been no albums that have blown you away completely. And, I guess that since I have no albums of The Who or The Beatles (well, I do, but have reviewed them already), so as part of this writeoff, I decided to pay tribute to one of my favorite 70s bands and...

Bringing it on Home: Led Zeppelin Redux
Review created: 12/22/06
by: Pantagruel-- a member of Epinions and Top Reviewer in Music

Pros:
a second helping of Led Zeppelin's white boy blues-rock is tighter than on debut

Cons:
taking credit for songs they did not compose; the beached-whale drum solo "Moby Dick"

One thing I admire about Led Zeppelin is that in the ten years they were together they constantly updated their sound. For example, they could have easily made a career out of playing sloppy electric blues like they did on their immensely popular first album. And considering that both albums were made in 1969, rush releasing their second album could have been given as a legitimate excuse for copping out. But they chose not to go in that direction, and if Led Zeppelin II isn't as polished as their later, more "mature" work, it does tighten up the loose screws from Led Zeppelin while still...

  Second time out
Review created: 06/13/00
by: sparkospunky -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Great performances, good solo efforts

Cons:
Bye-bye to the blues?

Led Zeppelin II was released on October 22, 1969, and represented the follow-up to their debut album, Led Zeppelin. With this album, the band distanced themselves ever so slightly from their blues roots, and adopted a more mainstream, commercial style. That is not to say that there is not good blues music on this album, because there is--just not as much as on their first album. The players and their contributions are as follows: Jimmy Page, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, electric twelve-string guitar, slide guitar, backing vocals Robert Plant, lead vocals, harmonica John Paul Jones, bass.
