Lair (Playstation 3)

This game is very different in every aspect in regards to console games. The controls do take a while to get used to but once you do the game is amazing. The graphics and storyline are both great (1080p kicks butt)!!! The surround sound audio and re-playability are also very nice. I highly recommend.

was an OK game before with great graphics but really and i mean really bad controls. sony just uploaded a free patch for the game that fixed the controls so now you can use the analog sticks to move. Its well worth it now.

I love the fact that the game action is primarily controlled using the Sixaxis to manipulate the dragon, etc.! Although a patch was created to allow analog control with the right and left sticks, I found it more enjoyable to play using the full motion control. Haven't found a dislike for the game as I enjoy both the flight aspect and the ability to land and battle, and to dismount the dragon and battle hand-to-hand. A very different type of game and it works in the capacity for which it was designed.

This game is action packed keep on your toes gaming. I recommend this game to everyone that likes RPG's.

I like the fact that is was shipped quickly and the game was just as described perfect conditon. I decided to buy this game to check out the graphics and the theme of the game was intersting.

ps3 is the best, blu ray rules, the graphics are awesome and you can spend a long ime playing without boring

Once you update the game with the latest patch the game is very easy. Music is grate, but you can get use to the hole game losing the story.

It was a good price, in great used condition, and the seller shipped very quickly. It is hard to believe in people's "only used a few times" thing but the item really was in top shape.

Good game however it takes a little getting used to the controller being utilized in axis mode to control your directional motion.

I REALLY wanted to like this game.
I watched the development of this title from the first screen shot released right through it's release. Read the various interviews with the developers, and took in the assorted videos released.
Then, I read the reviews on it...nearly all scathing, for it's poorly implemented controls, and thought to myself...they can't really be that bad.
I bought the game (just recently) with the knowledge that they were releasing a patch to allow the use of the analog sticks.
I should point out that while I deal with motion control, I'm not a huge fan of it. That being said, it wasn't the motion controls in this game that annoyed me. Even after I applied the patch, and tried the analog controls, I found that the camera work for this game is simply terrible.
Graphically, as others have pointed out, it's a very nice looking game. The sound is also very good in the game. I'll continue to play through it to check out the story, as I feel it too is decent so far.
But thus far, the controls simply aren't great, even with the choice to use the analog sticks. One could probably work around the poor controls if the camera would help you out...but it doesn't. It's the very poor camera control in conjunction with the less than stellar controls that ultimately doom this game to mediocrity, when it held such promise.
In the end, I'd say your best bet is to give this one a rent. If you can get accustomed to the frustrating controls, and get past the horrific camera, and even a bit of bad targeting during combat, there is still an interesting game to be found here.
It's simply a question of if you have the endurance or persistence to stay with it through its flaws.
Sadly, for Lair, when there are so many other quality games now out, or coming very soon...I can see this game getting set aside, and not picked up again.

This sounds and the visual enviroments are outstanding. on my THX ULTRA2 certified system and my DLP 1080p projector on a 125" custom made screen this game will blow you away. The Audience is listening!

I just received The game, graphics are very realistic, game does suggest spending time learning how to fly the dragon. Pretty cool game. So far I have really enjoyed it. The use of the SIXAXIS controler is definately going to take some time to get used to, but its not to hard to control. I would grade the game an A-/B+. It could be a little easier to control (which could also be my inexperience) I keep getting the ground fighting and the air fighting moves mixed up. I do really like the game and look forward to improving my skill level. I wouldn't reccomend this game for amateur games or young children.

I mainly got this (late) because I was waiting for Factor5 to include the analog controls. The game feels so much better now.

Frustrating controls and a lack of clear instruction regarding mission objectives makes this otherwise very interesting game difficult to stick with. Control of the dragon in flight is complicated by an automatic anti collision feature that moves you away from objects in your flight path, often in bazaar directions which make flight very confusing and complicated especially in small spaces.

...but I couldn't get a handle on the controls. After wanting to break the controller several times because my dragon wouldn't turn or do a 180 reverse, I decided to sell my copy. Shaking and tilting the six-axis controller is a phenomenal idea, but it doesn't always work at critical points in the game. The dragon-and-rider concept was well-thought out. It doesn't feel like an Eragon rip-off, although there seems to be Lord of the Rings elements in the graphics. I would say this game is one of the best I've seen except for the frustrating controller issue. That ruined it for me.

Pros: The graphics are amazing on a high-definition display. The story is very good and has some interesting themes and lessons to learn about human nature. The controls work great. The missions offer a lot of variety.
Cons: The graphics are greatly hindered by a standard defenition display. The controls take a long time to get used to. However, I can't believe people are saying that the controls are bad. If you play the game for five minutes and quit because you are not good, then don't rate the product.
Other Thoughts: How does this game not live up to the hype? This is exactly how my friends and I pictured Lair would be. I bet the same is true for all of you. You're just letting poor critic reviews and 360 fanboys get to your head. You shouldn't believe a game is bad because others say it's bad. If everybody rated this game honestly, I think it would get much higher scores.

It's a good game but requires a lot of tilting and turning of the controller. If you like the motion control option you'll enjoy this game but if you are a plain gamer like myself it's just a average game.

Many of them told me that LAIR isn't great as they thought.
Maybe yes maybe no...The only reason I bought this game, becasue it can play via Remote play to PSP...

I had high hopes for this game but i was very dissapointed.The control scheme is very poor and not to be able to change it from sixasis controls to a more familiar analog control puts the nail in the cofin.Graphics are good and good overall atmosphere but gameplay which is most important to me is terrible.

well i wish it did not have to use the tilt part of the controler..... but other then that its kinda fun
