I remember watching this movie as a kid.... I'm now a grandmother!!! So, decided to buy it and let my grandson see it.... Of course, I watched it with him.... AND IT IS BETTER THAN I REMEMBERED!! VERY ENTERTAINING AND HEART-WARMING.... GREAT FOR THE WHOLE FAM!!! EVEN IN THIS AGE OF PIXAR FILMS, THE CLASSIC DISNEY ANIMATION IS AWESOME. (only one problem: the song by the siamese cats will stick in your head for days!!! "We are SI-A-ME-EEZ if you PLEE-EEZ!")

Lady and the Tramp-1980's Generation of the Video
Review created: 12/18/06

Hello, there. My name is Mary, and I was born in 1980. I will talk a little bit of Lady and the Tramp.

I remember the Disney Black Dismond Videos. For those youngsters born in the late 1990's, you would not remember these Videocassettes. For those of you born in the 1980's, you would remember them.

In 1987, Lady and the Tramp came out on Video for the first time. I was about six, or seven years of age. My family did not have a VCR at that time, so I did not have Lady and the Tramp.

By the time we had a VCR, Lady and the Tramp was out of print, until 1998. 1987's version of Lady and the Tramp was under the Black Diamond Classics Videos, or The Classics. The Black Diamond Classic Video of Lady and the Tramp had a "peel-away" section on the lower right hand corner of the video saying:" The ORIGINAL Animated Classic!" This was on the first release of Lady and the Tramp to video in 1987. 1987 was the first time Lady and the Tramp came to video.

In 1998, Lady and the Tramp came to video again...in the Disney's Masterpiece Collection Videos. On the back cover of the Masterpiece version of Lady and the Tramp in 1998, it said "never before seen on video". What the Masterpiece version was saying, was that Lady and the Tramp was NEVER on video before. And this is NOT true. I remember when Lady and the Tramp came out on video in 1987. 1987's version was the FIRST time that Lady and the Tramp was on video...NOT 1998.

The Masterpiece Collection's version of Lady and the Tramp was NOT the first time on video, despite what it said on the cover. The Black Diamond Version Lady and the Tramp video in 1987, was the FIRST time on video. I remember it hitting the store shelves in 1987, and I asked my mom if we could buy the tape.

I did not get Lady and the Tramp until 1998, when it came to the Masterpiece Collection. What desecration! Rereleasing a fine, perfect...not to mention cute, and romantic...Disney Video out again!! I liked the videos of my generation...the Black Diamond Classics. Of course, I have some Masterpiece Collection Videos, such as Pocahontas, The Aristocats, Oliver and Company, etc.

I looked on ebay for the Black Diamond Version of Lady and the Tramp...and I found a copy. The ORIGINAL Lady and the Tramp video from 1987, my generation's version. I finally have my very own copy of the Black Diamond Lady and the Tramp Video from 1987!!! And, it plays PERFECTLY, and the seller was so helpful, and very prompt with the delivery of the Video.

Well, it took me years to get my own copy of the Black Diamond version of Lady and the Tramp...some 19 years, since 1987...a long time ago. Again, it took me years to find it, but I looked on ebay...and lo, and behold!!! There was the ORIGINAL Black Diamond version of this video with my name on it. It plays perfectly, as if it were just released to video this year...although this version of Lady and the Tramp video was released in 1987.

Also, the seller of the video was polite, and I emailed her, and thanked her for her help, and thanked her. I told her that the tape works perfectly...and it does. I have my very own Black Diamond Version of Lady and the Tramp video from 1987!! :) -Mary

Why Disney Movie's are well worth the money.
Review created: 03/04/06

The movie always keeps your interest in mind. Make's you feel like your part of the story. You wind up routing for the good guys and sometimes the bad guys, or character's in the movie. There never too long, or too short, just right. I suggest sitting down and watching a Disney movie, of your choice, today. Believe me, it's well worth the time.

Review created: 02/09/06
by:
kcct06 ( 2 )

From Wednesday 8 February, visitors to www.mad4dogs.org.uk/lady will have the chance to vote for their favourite doggy double act in the ‘Lady and the Tramp’ look-a-like competition. The Kennel Club Charitable Trust and Disney have launched this contest; to celebrate this much loved classic film, which is being released for the first time ever on special edition Disney DVD on 13 February 2006.

Nearly 50 photographs of dogs, which have similar characteristics to the much loved characters Lady, Tramp, Jock and Trusty have been entered into the competition and can be viewed online at www.mad4dogs.org.uk/lady.

It is now up to the public to vote for their favourite dogs. The two dogs with the highest number of votes from each character category will go through to the Grand Final at Crufts 2006, at The NEC Birmingham on Sunday 12th March, where they will have a chance to win a year’s supply of Iams dog food.

Tanya O’Connor, Brand Manager at Disney, said: “We’ve had some great pictures that reflect the captivating characters from the much loved film Lady and the Tramp and would like to thank everyone who has entered the competition. We would now like to encourage people young and old to cast their vote for their favourite dogs. This is such a great opportunity for ten lucky winners and their dogs to be part of Crufts, the world’s greatest dog show. Don’t miss your chance to vote, visitors are able to vote once every twenty four hours for each character between 8 and 24 February 2006, visit www.mad4dogs.org.uk/lady.”

Mike Townsend, Chairman of The Kennel Club Charitable Trust, said: “Lady and the Tramp is a film that has captivated the hearts of many of us. The characters in the film portray the happiness and joy that our canine friends can bring. We would like to thank Disney for their support and are pleased that together we can raise awareness of how we can make a difference for dogs, so they can have a healthier and happier life.”

The Kennel Club Charitable Trust helps ‘make a difference for dogs’ by providing grants to organisations which promote the advancement of science and research into canine diseases, the quality of life of humans whose dogs act as therapeutic and physical aids, and the relief of dogs in need of care and attention. The Trust was formed in 1987 and has distributed funds totalling more than £2million since its inception, with almost £250,000 awarded in grants last year alone.

For further information about the competition, please visit www.mad4dogs.org.uk/lady or email marketing@the-kennel-club.org.uk.

I Get Too Hungry For Dinner At Eight
Review created: 08/13/02
by: MrsNormanMaine -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Perhaps the best Hollywood kiss ever.

Cons:
Some rather dated attitudes.

I've settled back into life at Chateau Maine. It hasn't been easy. Doreen and Herbert Scrawcrunch left the house in a truly disastrous state: Mounds of rotting garbage in the gourmet kitchen, half the ormolu and gold leaf broken off the trim in my beloved Topkapi Palace themed home theater, large quantities of fine MNM consumer products practically destroyed by mishandling and improper care. Doreen put a large number of pieces of VickiWear, all ready for shipping, into the drier and the resultant shrinkage has left them unwearable. I have a phone call into Mattel to see if they might be...

This movie made me hate siamese cats
Review created: 02/28/06
by: maddogdenny -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
One of the great Disney classics of all time.

Cons:
Those horrible, horrible, Siamese cats.

My fiancee just got the new Platinum Edition DVD of Lady and the Tramp, because of course we have to get it quick before Disney locks it back in the vault, which is a practice I find borderline criminal. But enough of that rant, I'm going to get into the movie. I watched this movie tonight for the first time in years. I think the last time I watched it was at school in second grade, so I wasn't exactly sure if the story would hold up over time. I find that it still does. Lady and the Tramp is the story of a pampered dog named Lady who meets a dog from the other end of the social spectrum. He..

An Old Dog Can Learn a New Trick
Review created: 05/10/00
by: bilbopooh-- a member of Epinions and Top Reviewer in Movies

Pros:
wonderful story

Cons:
Siamese song may be considered offensive

All right, so Tramp isn't exactly old. But he is an established troublemaker and heartbreaker. Hence his name. Lady, on the other hand, is just that. A well-mannered cocker spaniel living in style with her doting owners, "Jim Dear" and "Darling." The opening sequence which shows her as a puppy is adorable but all too short, as Disney uses in this movie the time-honored tactic of making a character grow up in five minutes. Now an adult, Lady is the proud owner of a brand new collar and license. She is happy as can be until one day she notices Jim Dear and Darling acting strangely. She...

Lady And the Tramp: Great Love Story That Should Have Never Happened
Review created: 02/06/01
by: sweetcece -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
The dog characters, Jim Dear, and Darling are charming.

Cons:
The cats are portrayed as negative images.

Lady and The Tramp is an endearing love story between two unlikely characters, a lady dog of comfort and a stray dog -- a tramp. From the beginning, it is quite apparent that had circumstances been played out in a completely loving environment, Lady and the Tramp would have never met. Lady is owned by a couple who has had a baby recently after her arrival and is well cared for and loved. The only reason why she meets Tramp in the first place is that Lady is abused by a baby sitter who comes to take care of the baby in the absence of Lady's owners. (referred to in the movie as Jim Dear and...

A dog gone good Disney classic
Review created: 11/30/06
by: tommy_lop -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
a good disney movie telling the life of the dog

Cons:
Not many extras on the first disc, do we really need more Disney personality tests.

I got Lady in the Tramp a couple of months ago when I saw it at wal-mart and decided to pick it up, I remember watching it a few times as a kid and decided might as well pick it up while it s on limited release. The movie is an Walt Disney movie from back in the 1950 s and like all good Disney movies despite its age it s still very entertaining. Story. The story follows a cocker spaniel named Lady has her misadventures through family life of having a human baby born to her humans, and of course falling in love with the tramp. The movie begins with her as a puppy and her easily wrapping...
