A really enjoyable film, a little long but good, well made and acted. Ending is a little confused, does the guy stay, does the girl and Lady Vengeance stay together??
This movie is directed with artistic finesse and is one of my all time favorites. The director Park Chan-Wook propels the movie forward with his characters, and incorporates the right balance of what is seen with the eyes and what the imagination is lead to believe it sees. Nan Taylor 'artist'
This is the 3rd film in Korean film maker Chan-wook Park's Vengeance Trilogy following Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance & the most well known of the 3, Oldboy. While Oldboy is the best of the 3, they are all great and all very worth owning on DVD. This US edition of Lady Vengeance (aka: Sympathy For Lady Vengeance) has some major differences from it’s Korean import DVD counterpart. The biggest difference is that the Korean version includes a 2nd version of the film that slowly, over the duration of the film, goes from color to black & white. It is said to be Chan-wook Park's preferred version. The film itself is the exact same for both versions. The reason to pick up this new US version is because NONE of the bonus features (including the 3 audio commentary trax) include English subtitles. Also, the US version has a noticeably upgraded video transfer and has an excellent DTS audio track as well. So, for the better transfer and English subtitled bonus features, this edition is well worth picking up.
