Based on other reviews and me being a fan of Bowie I really expected this to be better. Unfortunately, it falls flat from the start and never gets better. There are a few OK songs but overall it's a big flop. 3 Stars.
I love this item. More acurately, I love both the movie and the music from the movie. I decided to buy this because I haven't been able to find this CD in stores. So when I found this item I was excited. When I bought it, all I got was excillent service. It was worth the money and the wait for this wonderful CD. Love the service but, not as much as I love Bowie's voice and score from the movie.
Soundtracks are so tentatively connected to their celluloid counterparts in so many cases. This is not one of those times, as Labyrinth - Original Soundtrack surpasses all of my expectations of a soundtrack. The songs are presented in remarkable clarity and in their entirety. 'Magic Dance', 'Underground','Chilly Down' and all the other favorites will be experienced as never before. David Bowie did a remarkable job and for fans of this movie the soundtrack is an essential selection. If presented with a choice between picking a few songs to purchase for 99 cents a piece or buying the entire album...choose the latter, the album is beautifully complete.
I bought this cd for my 9 year old son who loves the movie Labyrinth with David Bowie in it. If you have seen the movie, then you know that the soundtrack is great. If you are a David Bowie fan, then I think you'll enjoy this soundtrack as well, even if you haven't watched the movie. I recommend both the movie and the soundtrack for some family-friendly entertainment. I'd say any kid over the age of 7 would enjoy the movie...my son saw it for the first time when he was 7 and now watches it and listens to the soundtrack all the time. The movie and soundtrack are a bit on the "campy" side, which is a nice change of pace from today's movies and music.
This soundtrack is sung by David Bowie, who also plays the goblin king in the movie. Quite a few of my favorite David Bowie songs are off of The Labyrinth soundtrack; there are many fun and whimsical tracks, like "Dance Magic", with great lyrics and instrumentation. David is also an amazing singer. As an added bonus,I can listen to the soundtrack and remember the outrageous getup he was wearing in the movie - uncomfortably restrictive blue tights and an evilly spiked blonde mullet! If you're out to get the soundtrack then I recommend you pick up the movie too, which is also great. Very 80's new wave.
