  A phenomenon!

At times a phone gets released which is different and original. The LG Chocolate KG800 is such a phone!

When closed this phone just looks mysterious. It is dark with a dark LCD screen and just an LG Logo and a silver OK button to give any clue about what to do with it. The hidden keypad is touch sensitive and glows red when in use. When opened, the full keypad is available. There are also buttons around the edge for volume control and multimedia - MP3, camera and video. The design works well and looks fantastic, although the touch-sensitive keys are quite sensitive and take a little getting used to.

This phone comes with MP3, camera (With flash!) and video. The Chocolate has an MP3 player that can handle a wide range of formats. Music can be controlled from the touch pad or with the inline remote control supplied with the handset. A headset is included and this plugs into the charging port. MP3 ring tones are supported, and there's 128 Mbytes of memory which is pretty good, although a memory card option would have been nice to have.

The Chocolate is quite slim and compact and weighs just 83g. It fits easily into your jeans pocket. The keypad is sensitive to touch and heat, so it won't be activated when in a bag. Battery life is below average and the phone will need charging every few days.

The KG800 is the first in a new line of phones from LG. These were first released in Korea and have taken 7% of the market. Similar take-off to be expected elsewhere.

  LG Chocolate KG800 great phone

I love this phone, it's very sleek, I think it will be one of the more popular phones for the next several months from its many functions and great styling.

Strengths: Easy to use, great sound and visual quality
Weaknesses: Not compatible with ipod formats. No speaker phone. Buttons not intuitive.
Summary: I needed a new cell phone and was very excited about the LG Chocolate. However, after reading numerous reviews and peeking in on some chat rooms, I was a bit apprehensive. Nothing to worry about!

First of all, the phone is gorgeous looking and has a good heft, much more than you would expect. The touch pads on the main body are easy to learn, but are different than your standard cell phone buttons because there is no tactile "give." The buttons aren't necessarily intuitive, so I had to delve into the instruction manual to figure out what each button did.

Downloading music was a snap from VCast. Loading up your own tunes requires a bit more work. You either need to buy 2.5mm ear buds (standard is 3.5mm) or you have to buy the Verizon adapter ($14.99). In addition, you'll need the Music Essentials kit ($29.99), which is great if you have an IBM clone, but requires quite a bit of work if you use a Mac. If you use an ipod on your IBM clone, you actually have to reburn your songs into either WMA or mPEG format and then upload them into your phone. Memory is a little limited on the phone (68MB) but you can buy a microSD card and load songs onto the VX8500 that way. And contrary to an earlier review, the max size for a microSD is only 1GB at this time -- so don't buy anything bigger because it won't work with this phone.

No speaker phone, but not a big deal for me. Bluetooth synced very readily.

Overall, cool phone, no regrets. Not a lot of accessories available currently (cases, etc) but more are in the works. Oh, and it smudges a lot.

I'm regretted and disappointed for buying this phone because the battery quickly run down within thirty minutes after full charged. I belief that the battery is defected. Despite the fact that I laid down my complain to the seller but failed to take postive action about it.

  the sexy lg chocolate kg800
Review created: 05/02/08

I love this phone, it is slim and sexy; not to mention all the beautiful things it can do. I bought this phone as a gift and it was an excellent deal. If I would have bought it through my cell phone carrier I would have paid 3x what I paid for it and it wouldn't have been compatiable with any mobile carrier. I will most certainly use the services of this company in the future.

Slick and Cool Design, But Has Less Features
Review created: 04/06/08
by:

I brought this phone because my kid always wants to have the Chocolate. After I received the phone, the first impression is it's really slick and cool desgined phone. The phone cover is all shiney, LCD screen is very clear, and heat senstive touch buttons looks also new idea. After used for few days, and think there are some basic features are not there but nice to have; e.g Speaker phone, only has 128MB internal memory, no external memory slot, and the heat senstive buttons are too senstives sometimes. Overall it's a good phone that worth the amount of money.

Great phone but doesn't work good with ATT 850 band
Review created: 04/01/08
by:

The style and features about the phone are great. The phone is very light weight and easy to use. There's just one problem. Being a TRI band phone, ATT doesn't co exist with this phone very well. I didn't get any reception so I just sold it. Thanks for the phone though the business was easy going.

Get your FREE PS3!!! I did it and it WORKS!!!
Review created: 02/29/08
by:
0 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Get one for FREE!!! Have a look at this video first:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFKYVE__Mug

Just take 2 minutes and read this. This is very EASY to do! It
literally takes 10 minutes to setup. Simply follow the steps below. I
promise you, this is 100% real. I wouldn't jeopardize my eBay account
status if this was a scam. My feedback is real and I will answer you
on any question! Here is what you do. Click on the link below,
register, pick an account type (referral is the easiest) and complete
just 1 offer (Very important that you complete the 1 offer otherwise
your account will sit in limbo until you do). This is not like other
sites where you need to complete one offer on 2 or 3 different
pages!!! And a lot of these offers are FREE trials with nothing else
to buy...No commitments!!!

There are plenty of cool offers to choose from such as Blockbuster
online, Stamp.com, Netflix, Gamefly which are services you would
regularly sign up for anyways and their all secure networks, why not
use them to get a free PS3 System or cash (I did the Posterpass.com and paid only $10 for 4 posters). Look at the offers and choose the one
that works for you. After signing up and completing your one offer,
simply refer 8-13 people (depending on the FREE prize you choose) to
do the same under your link (just post the same thing as I have on
eBay, and you'll get your referrals before the auction even ends.)

Then they will ship your PS3 System or your selected item for free, I
chose the PS3 80gb System. No Joke, 100% REAL!!! The reason these
companies make money, is because most people don't bother getting all
the referrals. All you have to do is post it on EBAY! They use us as
advertisement by word of mouth which saves them tons of money which
goes toward yours and my free gift. These are legit companies such as
Blockbuster, Netflix, Gamefly etc... You can copy my listing if you
want. You must use your own authentic link though. You will get your
own personal link after your orders placed.

Step 1: Click this link:
http://www.YourPS34free.com/index.php?ref=4490020

Step 2: Sign up and chose an account type (Referral is the easiest and
best).

Step 3: Complete just 1 offer (like Blockbuster or Stamps.com) and
refer up to 13 people to do the same (use eBay! Do what I did, copy my
ad).

Step 4: Receive your PS3 System for FREE!!!!!!!!!! (Even The Shipping
Is Free!!!)

For proof that this is for real, click on the link below. It's the
company that is behind everything.

  Seller sent me broken phone
Review created: 02/09/08
by:
0 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I wanted to buy it because I heard good things.

I received a phone that was dead on arrival. Seller refuses to pay back my full amount. They want to charge me 15% for "restocking fees". What is that? Creative financing? It's called stealing. These people SEND broken phones, and they ultimately get 15% from each auction. THAT's how they run their business. It's called a scam. DO NOT buy from acc universe.

  LG Chocolate KG800
Review created: 10/05/07
by:
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Before we ponder LG's "Chocolate" moniker, it's the novel design of the KG800 that sets the it apart from anything we've seen before. It has an innovative touch-sensitive navigation keypad, which is inactive when the phone is closed and locked, but glows vibrantly red when you slide the screen up. Alternatively you can access these keys by unlocking the phone with two presses of the volume key when slid shut.

There are nine touch-sensitive buttons in total: two customisable shortcut keys below the screen, call and cancel keys, four-way navigation and a selection button. It's a shame the screen isn't touch-sensitive as well, but we still applaud LG for their fresh approach with the Chocolate's design.

So why Chocolate? We simply have no idea, really. LG tells us "Chocolate" is their pet name for the phone and that they thought it was about time a mobile phone came out with a name that's easy for people to remember. Before seeing the phone we thought it might be due to its colour, but there's no hint of brown on this phone. The high-gloss, black case with silver detail, while smooth, is prone to smudges and fingerprints. LG provides a small polishing wad in the case that you can attach to the upper right corner of the phone but we found it easier just to give the case a quick rub on our jeans or shirt every once in a while for a buff.

Most people we gave the Chocolate to seemed very impressed with its design and surprised to see the the quirky operation of the keypad. Others commented that it looked quite plasticky compared to what they thought it would look like. Each to their own when it comes to fashion phones, we guess.

Other characteristics of the phone include a black-and-grey checkered keypad, MP3 player and camera shortcuts on the side, and a USB port that doubles as the headset and power connection -- you can't listen to music while charging the phone. It's a rather petitie phone, too, measuring 95 x 48 x 15mm and weighing 83 grams.
