Actually we were purchasing this item because a friend asked us to buy it for them. We bid. We won. We paid. We waited several days. We received an email that the item would not be shipped because it was not available. We received a reimbursement.

Kindred the Embraced (2001, DVD)
) This mini series is great for any vanpire fan. I saw parts of this show on scifi and had to get the whole series to watch the rest. I'm glad I did. It was worth seeing. I was pleased with it.

At least 3 different boxed sets of "Kindred: The Embraced" have been produced in the last few years. At what point each was produced I do not know. But, the important difference between the two I have seen, is found in the television premiere episode, "The Original Saga". This review is specifically for the set which has the UPC code of 17153-12155, which I will refer to as, "the orignal broadcast version", or the obv. The reason I even bid on this item is because the last 5 digits of this items UPC matched the numbers on the set of someone I had recently corresponded with who claimed that their version had the original introduction to the character, "Sascha". I bid, I won, it did. This is the (as far as I can tell) ORIGINAL BROACAST VERSION of the premiere episode. If you compare the other version I have (UPC Code 17153-10378), to this one, there are many differences, from the omission of the (I feel very vital) introduction of Sascha, to an extended ending, and between the two there are various subtle differences including insert sequences in major scenes which change aspects of the story. But the version 12155 is the obv, so it is, as far as I am concerned, definitive. Now if they cut the two together, and had no scene omissions, I would probably be able to endorse that as well. The picture and sound are broadcast quality. This show may be a bit... cheesy by some peoples standards. It's depiction of police procedures and attitudes is high fantasy even by Hollywoods usual standards. But it is without a doubt a very good story that grabs you and doesn't let you go. I picture a day when someone discovers this little gem, loves it and remakes it. Maybe even as a series of movies. Until that day, this is the definitive version. One other thing, at the time I write this, E-Bay erroneously has this listed as a 3 disc set, it is not. It is a 2 disc set. There has never been a 3 disc set.

This is easily my favorite vampire show/movie. I am an avid Lost Boys, Interview w/The Vampire, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Blade, etc. fan but this TV show brought an element to the vampire genre that made it one of my favorite TV shows of all time. The concept of vampire clans added a very interesting twist that made for great plot twists and surprises and the main character, Julian Luna, the Prince of the City, was a perfect fit for the role. It is so unfortunate he is no longer with us as I don't know how well someone else could fill the role, but I would watch if they did! I especially enjoyed the way the writers explored the emotions and interactions of the characters, showing their personal strengths and weaknesses which inevitable interfered with "The Masquerade".
I would recommend this DVD to anyone who loves the vampire genre. It is not your typical hunt and kill plot, though, it goes much deeper than that. So if you just want blood, gore and killing, skip this one. Kindred is very entertaining and has left me wanting more, even after all these years! It made my heart skip a beat when I saw it being shown on TV again a couple months ago but I've heard no stirrings of reprising the show so I bought the DVD. If that's the best I can get, I'll take it!

kindred the embracedthe product was in good condtion when i recieved it..but i got nervous because it was taking a while...but once i got the tracking number i felt better and within days i recieved it...i would deffinatly use this again

I saw this mini sereies when it first came out and loved it. I had searched for it at any and all places I could think of and finally found it on ebay!! I recommend this DVD for any vampire show lover!!
