A Great Will Ferrell movie. It's funny and full of laughs. The kids are great as is the rest of the cast!
An Awesome Story and Loveable characters make this movie one of Will Ferrells finest.
Initially I didn't care to see it, but I'm seriously glad I did.
Will Ferrell delivers his classic over-the-top performance. Ferrell is called upon to coach his sons new soccer team after Ferrells father (Robert Duvall) cuts Ferrells son Sam from his own soccer team. Ferrell then coaxes Mike Ditka (Da Bears) to help him coach the team. Ditka does an amazing job in this movie.
The team Ferrell coaches is the typical no-talent, all-heart mix of loveable characters made popular by movies along the lines of the Mighty Ducks and Little Giants. Two extrememly memorable characters are Byong Sun (played by Elliot Cho) and Mark Avery (played by Steven Anthony Lawrence)
Will Ferrell makes this movie what it is, without Ferrell this movie would've been a serious flop. I've always been a fan of Will Ferrell and this is just another one to add to the collection.
Final Verdict:
4/5
Rent or Buy?: If you're a fan of Will Ferrel this DVD definately belongs in your collection. However, if you find Ferrell too over the top, you might consider renting this one first.

Kicking & Screaming is a PG-rated Will Ferrell movie made for the family - kids will love the story and soccer (think Little Giants) and adults will love Will Ferrell who is as hilarious as ever (just with a G-rated tone). Whether you're a Will Ferrell die-hard fan or looking for a Friday night movie for the entire family - this is a 5/5 movie that is guaranteed to entertain. Mike Ditka is a great addition to the film - he pokes fun at himself and is great. Robert Duvall is great as the crazy father. And the bizarre Byong Sun is hilarious as the mislead kid and steals all of his scenes.
I bought this movie because my son plays soccer and we just have a whole bunch of fun watching the soccer moves and laughing at Will Ferrell, who does a great job in this movie.
I bought the DVD because it was so cheap, and ques what, cheap was the understatement. I wouldn't work! The DVD had some chalky coating on it and would skip every other second in the movie, so you couldn't actually view the film. Once cleaned, the film looked liked it had been sand blasted. And, since it was so cheap, it would have cost me more to try and return it. The kicker: it was selling at Target for about the same price as the shipping!
This movie is very funny in typical Will Ferrell style. What I really liked about this movie is that not only my children, but all the others I know who have seen it, picked up at least one new soccer trick. It got them very excited about practicing. We have seen it over and over and over again. Highly reccommended!
I bought this movie for my teenagers, they love Will Ferrell and think he is hysterical. The kids as well as the adults in this movie have their share of commedy moments. It's a fun movie when you just need a laugh. I hate paying $20 per movie, so I've found ebay to be one of the best places to pick up movies at a more reasonable price.
This movie is a hilarious family comedy. There were some points where I almost passed out from laughing so hard. I didn't give it a 5 because I thought it ended just like every other father/son problem movie. But it is a great movie with a great story and even better jokes. I would definitely recommend it if you need a good laugh.

Kicking and Screaming (2005)

Pros: Will Ferrell overachieves and makes this a pleasant view.
Cons: Robert Duvall is splendid at serious roles. Wait.. this is not a serious role...
Java will make all you dreams come true. Taking under major consideration, that Kicking and Screaming was made predominantly for youngsters, the end product seems quite reasonable. It's not a landmark funny film but at the same time its just enough under the top to satisfy. Filled with many funny sequences, as well as an "after school special" ending, it is a fitting film for the family to see. Plus, you get the chance to see Will Ferrell overachieving. The script was not top notch, but Mr. Ferrell sure squeezed all the comedic juice he could out of it. What is all the Kicking and Screaming.

Bend It Like Weston

Pros: Ferrell, Duvall, Ditka
Cons: Predictable
Athletics have always been a part of the life of Phil Weston. Although Phil (Will Ferrell) was never a particularly gifted athlete, he participated in athletics because of his father, Buck (Robert Duvall), a fierce competitor, owner of a growing chain of sporting goods shops, and soccer coach. The only good thing that came from his days as an athlete is that he met his wife, Barbara (Kate Walsh). The competition between Phil and Buck didn't end, however, when Phil's dubious athletic career ended. When Phil opened a sports pill shop of his own, Buck always insisted his son would never make it..

Pros: Will Ferrell and Robert Duvall. Entertaining.
Cons: Predictable
Will Ferrell spent several years on the cast of Saturday Night Live before he left the show. He made several movies while on the show, though he was usually in supporting roles. He had the lead part in Kicking

Will Ferrell and Mike Ditka??? Kicking & Screaming

Pros: Good family film, humor for both kids and adults, positive message
Cons: Very predictable
I would call this a case of a pretty decent family movie with a bad name and poor marketing campaign. Kicking and Screaming opened this weekend, and despite having pretty decent star power in the cast, I had heard virtually nothing about it and didn t know what the plot even involved. But, it had Will Ferrell, and the alternative was Monster-in-law. So hubby and I decided to give it a try. The Plot The film centers around Phil Weston (Ferrell) and his somewhat tumultuous relationship with his very competitive father, Buck (Robert Duvall). To set the stage, we see Buck upstaging Phil by...
