Kameo: Elements of Power has a few things going for it. One: It is made by the guys at Rare, you know, Donkey Kong for the Super Nintendo, Banjo Kazooie on the 64. Two: It is bright, colorful and beautiful, perhaps the best looking release title aside from Oblivion. Three: It is fun, perfectly balanced and for those that want a real challenge there are lots of extras to unlock.

First of all, it is not a very long nor challenging game. It is very kid friendly as it has the bulk of commands displayed on-screen at all times, and is fun for all ages simply because there is something very enjoyable to killing a bunch of things with the various powers. Heres the kicker when it comes to elemental warriors: They are all useful at one point or another. You will not get through the game unless you learn to use them all. It is great fun to do so as well, especially when trying to wrack up large combos.

The graphics, as stated before are beautifull and somewhat cartoony, every character has a very unique appearance, and the various soldiers, both eleven and Orcish are the only ones that have a uniform appearance. Its surprising jsut how many variations you'll see as you play through.

The voice acting is spot-on, each character's voice matches with their appearnce so well, its sometimes hard to remember they arent real people.

The storyline is somewhat predictable, but it is well done and enjoyable, not to mention varied enough in missions and boss fights that you'll never truly get bored: lost yes, but not bored.

The world isn't too large, but it is just big enough to make it seem natural as you ride across the plains on your horse, the landscape slowly changes depending on where you are heading, and the sheer amount of warriors on screen during these sequences is staggering.

Aside from the kind of cliche storyline, the game is a very good addition to any collection, and stil one of the best on the system, especially since the 360's game library isnt the greatest, lots of FPS and sports games, but very little in the way of Action Adventure or RPGs. So if you are looking for something kid friendly or a Zelda-esque Action Adventure, do yourself a favor and pick up Kameo, at the very least doing everything in the game will hold you over until the 360's main bulk of titles ships the end of this year.

One of the few adventure games on 360

Kameo: Elements of Power is a pretty good adventure game for Xbox 360. The puzzles are nice and varied, making use of all of Kameo's transformations. The only thing I didn't like about it is sometimes the controls can be a little weird, but other than that, it's an awesome game and shouldn't be overlooked.

  Morphing for the Win!

I just love the way you can morph into different creatures to accomplish tasks or complete puzzles. It is fun and exercises the brain, as well as the fingers. My controllers don't respond as quickly as I would like, but all in all a fun game!

It is a good game in the adventure style. I think i made a good deal in buying it.

The characters evolve like in an RPG game and you can buy powers for then, but the game is still focused in the adventure: killing enemies, solving pretty good puzzles (lots of fun), good bosses.

The game might seem strange at first, but if you complete the first level you will start to enjoy it. It's because the characters are pretty strange, with different powers and you realize the game is good because of it. Somehow inovative.

I was thinking xbox 360 was lacking a good adventure game like crash bandicoot. If you think so, try this one.

I particularly like FPS games with lots of blood and killings, which you wont find in this game, even thought there are a lot of enemies to exterminate.

The graphics are not as good as those from Bioshock but they are not bad at all.

  Overall Decent Game
Review created: 04/04/08
by:

The game has its good and bad points like many. The controls for some of the warriors are not very well done due to not being very fluid and can cause a few deaths along the way. The graphics especially for a xbox 360 launch game are amazing especially the very large battles that you wont see in many other games. The games length is decent for an action/platforming title the average gamer can most likely complete the game in 10hours or so. Coop is an added bonus it also allows for live coop but its hard to find a game due to the age of the title. Another low end for the game is its simplicity you can tell it was made for a young age group but by including harder difficulties could have made it reach a much larger age group. It is a good game and worth a purchase if your able to find it for a low price but certainly not worth the 60 price tag of when it originally was released.

This is one of the best games to come out for the Xbox 360 and was a perfect launch title to showcase innovative gameplay, gorgeous visuals and a stunning music score by one of the most renowned game developers ever. I tried the demo after recently purchasing an Xbox 360 and was blown away by everything in the demo and could not wait to experience the full version. Highly recommended for anyone who loves a cartoony style game with fun family platforming and spectacular scenery and gameplay. A must have collectors item for any 360 owner

Complicated game for me as a 37 yr old!
Review created: 12/03/07(updated 12/04/07)

I bought this game used when I bought my Xbox 360 on Nov 2006!

As far as the game goes, as of today 12-3-07, I reached the last guy, her name is Thorn (I think). I BEAT the game!! but theres still plenty to do to offically "complete" the game. Upgrade, then use Thermite! Its easiest (that I know of) to beat the very last "guy"!

What I think of Kameo :As a 37 yr old adult male, at first, its very complicated to learn to play, WELL actually its TODAY'S video games systems that are VERY VERY complicated! At first, for several months, I had some loss of interest to play my XBOX 360, because of how overly complicated today's video games are. With these you DEFINATELY need to be smart to be able to play it. (Evitdently I'm smart enough. I got the hang of it) Like for instance, the controllers of these videogames, there is about "1 million" different buttons and switches etc (LOL). For me, I need lots of time to get the hang of ALL THE CONTROLS, especially for a 37 yr old who had not play video games for a while.

Video games of TODAY (2007) are NOT anything like the games I played when I was 15-20 yrs old in the 80's! They're SO OVERLY ADVANCED compared! Back in the "Atari days" our controllers was a VERY simple 4 direction stick and 1 fire button.... THAT'S IT. The game play of these 80's games were focused mostly "How many points we can get" and typically played for a few minutes from start to end! And as I saw it, over the years, every new generation of video game, there's more and more controls... WOW

Now going back to Kameo, while playing the game, I was getting irritable (LOL) when I get SO CONFUSED for which button I need to press to make Chilla shoot his spikes, make '40 below' attack etc, and pushed the wrong buttons as many times as there are buttons on the controller (LOL) But as of now I got the hang of it.

Although, I have not played that much, but while progressing on this game, I came around dozens of scenes that took me hours "walking and running" around the scene to figure out... "What do I do NEXT??? hmmmm..." including the scene for which took me a few months to figure out that I needed Chilla to climb the walls (Yes you READ IT RIGHT... 3 months!) LOL

But anyway, what I like about the game Kameo: The graphics are just SO COOL, its UNBEILIEVABLY GOOD! Especially with my new 19" LCD High definition TV. The play is so much fun and loads of challenge for me as a 37 yr old adult. Its FULL of challenge, but Ortho the book is VERY helpful, he explains the basics for what to do next, and map always tells you where to go next. (options settings of game needs to be set for HINTS : very helpful though) All in all, I just LOVE the realizm of graphics, and the characters are certainly CRAZY LOOKING haha. I just simply LOVE the "realizm" of the game!

BUT you got to have an HD TV to get the most enjoyment out of this game. Well actually for me, playing this game on my HD TV (and NOT my old style tube 19" TV) is what motivated me to even get on this game in the first place!!! So believe me you got to have an HD TV for your XBOX 360/Playstation 3

  Kameo: An Above Average Platformer
Review created: 04/24/07(updated 04/25/07)

Kameo: Elements of Power is an action/adventure platformer for the Xbox 360. It was released in 2005 as a launch title and looks pretty good for being a first generation game. The colors are vibrant, sometimes a little too colorful (especially in the magic kingdom areas), but overall the game looks great.

The gameplay involves morphing into various creatures with different abilities, which allow you to reach new areas to explore. For example, one form can roll into a ball at high speeds, while another form can grab onto walls of ice. Using these abilities at the right time allows you to launch yourself off of a ramp, change form, and then latch on to a wall of ice to reach a new area.

The problem with the form changing gameplay is that you are only allowed 3 buttons to align a form to, X, Y, and B, and often you’ll find yourself wanting to switch between 4 or 5 forms in the same area. There’s a quick change feature, which allows you to change the alignment of a button without using pause; but it often takes several seconds to activate. Even worse is the fact that it is interrupted whenever you are struck by an enemy, making for a lot of frustration.

The combat system is fun, but very repetitive. Using Pummel Weed in particular can be a blast, as you use the left and right triggers to deliver combos. However, the 50th time you deliver a 10-hit combo ending in an uppercut, it gets a bit repetitive. The controls are also quite loose for certain characters, which makes sense for the “icy” characters and stages, but not for every one. Overall, once you get used to the control scheme, and purchase the upgradeable maneuvers with items obtained in game, it’s actually quite fun.

The game is not very long, lasting about 7-10 hours, depending on your skill level. However, the co-op play through split screen on the same 360, or over Xbox Live, can extend your playtime a bit. There are also several achievements that can be obtained based on a points ranking system, encouraging you to reply past areas to improve your score.

Overall, Kameo: Elements of Power is an above average experience. Great graphics, excellent platforming elements, and decent combat system all combine to make for a fun experience that fans of the genre are sure to enjoy. A 4 out of 5.

Kameo: Elements of Power a good Fantasy Adventure Game
Review created: 03/04/07
by:

What I liked about Kameo:Elements of Power was the game genre, I like adventure games. I thought that the game concept and story were excellent.
Also the graphics on the Xbox 360 made the game that much better. Because I am kind of bias to Fantasy/Adventure type games I knew before I purchased the game that I was going to like it. I purchase a used game on Ebay because the price was right, it would have cost more if I had purchased it from a local video game store. I actually got a pretty good deal. Also Kameo was one of the
game titles that came out when the Xbox 360 did, therefore there was all kinds of advertising and game reviews in the video game magazines. All in all I enjoyed playing Kameo: Elements of Power from start to finish.

Great game, Hard enough to make you think, Good action
Review created: 01/08/07
by:

This game has Great game play and looks great to. There is lots of action in all levels start to finish, but the game also has times in it that make you solve problems to earn money to build your characters. The 2 faults with the game are it is to short. Just as you get good (finally)the game is over. Also the co-op side seems like a add on that you can only access more levels of AFTER completing that level in 1 player mode. But the co-op mode is still very fun to play. But all in all this is one of the better games out there on any system. Not bad for the 1st game out the "box" for the X-BOX 360!!!

I’m 46years old and bought the kids the Xbox 360 and 10 games.
Kameo was one of them. This is a great game with great graphics, fun character and challenging game play. We found lots of little tricks each character has at there disposal and different abilities to make this game very fun. Like when the beast has 3 to 4 trolls impaled onto its back, switch to spear mode and throw them over the wall or into the wall. They won’t come alive. Not to hard to figure out and very fun to play.
