So if you were invited to an Island full of Dinosaurs would you go? I know I wouldn't. I wouldn't care how locked up or the grade of steel they were behind.
But Alas some man with a dream of bringing dinosaurs back from the dead brings innocent people and even his own grandchildren to his derranged little Island.
That would be the last time I let grandpa babysit my kids.....

  Jurassic Park a HIT!
Review created: 02/14/08

This movie is amazing. While too intense for kids under the age of about 8 or 9, it certainly packs a punch of big ole' loud dinosaur fun!! Great movie for action movie buffs. Amazing CGI work. Spielberg outdid himself on this one. The bonus footage is so much fun. It's great to see the project from 'the get go' and see how it evolved into the movie that it became. Enjoy!

The Giants that Ruled the Earth
Review created: 09/06/07

I can't say anything but good about this film. I enjoy all kinds of creature films, as they are exciting and sometimes a little scary. But here again the special effects that were created for this film made all the creatures seem so real, and alive right up to the eyes moving and the skin vibrating when encountered by anything or anyone. The masterful way they were created kept you on the edge of your seat almost from the beginning to the end. I enjoyed this film tremendously. I bought the film because as I am a creature of habit, I enjoy good movies, and seeing them over, and over is a thrill for me.

Purchased as a gift for my brother and his wife - so didn't LOOK at the movie. They've received it, but haven't told me if they've viewed it yet.
It appeared to be in good shape - so I hope so.

  Jurassic Park (2000, DVD)

Out of curiosity I bought it, having never seen it as I assumed it was a movie for children. It was intense, spellbinding, quick moving and true to Spielberg--very realistic in every sense. Pure edge-of-the-seat fun! Definitely a library item to show anyone who missed it. If you have surround-sound it increases the suspense....and whether you are an adult or child it is a must-see!

  Jurassic Park Classic !!!
Review created: 04/09/07

Jurassic Park is a classic man vs nature movie. A great plot and special effects combined with a lack of sexual content and obscene language makes this a great film to share with older kids. Tweens can get their gross out fix without being exposed to content too adult for them. It is violent, but not nearly as grafic as most of todays films.

This is one of Steven Spielberg's best movies ever. Definitely one of my favorites.

Millionaire John Hammond has designated an island for an amusement park featuring DNA-cloned real dinosaurs. He asks two paleontologists (dinosaur experts) to come visit the park, and to act as consultants for the park. He also invites a mathematician and his two grandchildren to visit it as well. They begin by starting the tour of the park, and of course everything starts going wrong. 3 things happen: an impending hurricane, an engineer who is stealing information for money (and shuts down the entire electrical system), and the dinosaurs start terrorizing the park.

The special effects are amazing, and the dinosaurs are very lifelike and real looking. I was amazed at how real they got the T-Rex to look.

This movie is based on a book by Michael Crichton. It stars: Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, and Laura Dern.

Jurassic Park is one of my grandson's favorite movies, my husband also likes it, so we had to have it here for them to watch.
When they watch it they are both glued to the screen, so I know where both of them are.

Exciting movie with an important lesson

Once you get past all the state-of-the-art special effects, Spielberg-top-of-his-game direction, the Jeff Goldblum "X" factor, and broader social-scientific implications of Crichton original story, you have a simple morality lesson:

"Pay your engineers enough, and you'll avoid a collosal disaster of scientific proportions"

Intrigued? Check out this film on DVD.

Jurassic Park - It's Family Movie Night! (first in an occasional though likely never-ending series)
Review created: 01/19/05
by: millinocket-- a member of Epinions and Lead in Movies

Pros:
Dinosaurs, dinosaurs, dinosaurs!

Cons:
Well, I suppose if you don't like dinosaurs....

Why in the world am I reviewing this film? Everyone on earth has seen it, half of them have reviewed it, why bother? Well, I recently had the opportunity to see Jurassic Park (commercial free!) for the first time in several years. I also had the opportunity to see the film with someone who had never seen it before. That s right, it was Family Movie Night! My son is now old enough that, when his sister is asleep, we can watch movies not centered around animated insects or Winnie the Pooh characters. He can stay up late and watch grown-up movies (the definition of grown-up being decided, of...

  Life Finds a Way
Review created: 06/25/06

Pros:
Great effects, clever story, decent acting.

Cons:
Doesn't quite grab you on the small screen like it does on the big screen.

When Steven Spielberg s film version of Michael Chrichton s novel Jurassic Park was released back in 1993, Universal Studios seemed to have all the angles covered. Kids were a sure-fire draw to see the new movie, after all. What kid doesn t love dinosaurs? Parents would be dragged in by the kids, of course, but would likely be just as enthralled by the majestic behemoths traipsing across the screen, and perhaps by the big-name cast that rivaled the extinct creatures now making a cinematic return. Universal was onto something, and though the making of Jurassic Park had to wait for the...

  Collector's Edition DVD: A cautionary tale [ write-off ]
Review created: 04/27/01
by: adjensen -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Exciting and visually enjoyable; thought provoking

Cons:
Predictable plot; one dimensional characters

I suspect that Jurassic Park was one of those movies that brought people to the theatre simply to gawk at the effects. The sound, imagery and plot were presented into such a way that it made it a holistic event. Brought home to DVD, the movie loses a bit of its luster, although DVD with a home theatre is probably as good as it's going to get. I had this on VHS but hadn't watched it for a very long time (and skipped the second one, The Lost World entirely.) The video transfer of this edition is very nice. I doubt that it's been "remastered" or fiddled with too much, given that the movie was...

  Jurrasic Park: Disneyland in Hell
Review created: 01/07/01
by: George_Chabot-- a member of Epinions and Advisor in Movies

Pros:
Special Effects

Cons:
Script, Acting - except by the dinosaurs

Jurassic Park (1993) The special effects in Jurassic Park are absolutely astounding as you watch dinosaurs of all types going through their daily routines, that is, until the computer system shuts down and the meat eaters get out from behind the electrically charged fences to see what man tastes like! Sam Neill and Laura Dern are paleontologists invited by Richard Attenborough to visit his new theme park, Jurassic Park located on a remote Pacific Isle. A mathematician, Jeff Goldblum and a lawyer are also invited. Their task is to evaluate the park before it gets opened to the public. Each of..

  "Welcome...to Jurassic Park!"
Review created: 07/17/04
by: alexdg1-- a member of Epinions and Top Reviewer in Movies

Pros:
Fast-paced story, great effects, terrific John Williams score.

Cons:
None...it's even better than the novel!

Jurassic Park, Steven Spielberg's 1993 blockbuster based on Michael Crichton's technothriler about cloned dinosaurs running amok on a Costa Rican island, is still an exciting journey of the imagination, even though it's been 11 years since its theatrical release. Although its computer-generated effects have been surpassed over the past decade, Jurassic Park's tale of a misguided science experiment fueled by one man's ambition to create the ultimate theme park still packs a Jaws-like mixture of chills and thrills. As in Crichton's novel, the story revolves around eccentric billionaire John...
