Jeremiah Johnson (1997, DVD)

This is a classic.. It has Robert Redford and Will Geer in it.. It also is shot in beautiful Utah. If you like wilderness pics this one is a must see.

This is a classic Robert Redford film. The story is rich and takes you through diverse terrain and emotion. I would recomaend this to any outdoorsman or wilderness/history lover.

I buy a lot of stuff from E-bay because you can usually get it pretty fast. But some sellers list Items that they do not have....:( What is up with that. How can you sell an item that you do not have????? I under stand that this place I bought this DVD from is a store, but!!! That just is not right... Item was payed for by PayPal on Feb-17-2008.. Today is April-10-2008..!!@##$ I have been receiving E-mails saying that DVD is on Back order and will be in in 3 to 4 days.. I have received about 4 of those.. I think there 3 to 4 days are up..
I will be leaving NEGATIVE FEEDBACK once and if I receive this DVD.

A common man in uncommon circumstances. A poignant tale today as it was thirty years ago. Being a period piece it isn't given to dated styles and scenery making this as enjoyable to watch today as it ever was. The story is compelling and consistant with plenty of action. Unusual for Redford to tell a tale less political this performance showcases his thespian talents. Like him or hate him he is a talented actor. This is a timeless classic.

Jerimiah Johnson is the story of a young man that grew increasingly frustrated with society, choosing rather to live in the mountains alone. He buys a Hawken rifle, secures some basic supplies and rides into a solitude but gratifying exsitence. This movie epitomizes the frontier spirit inherent in all Americans. Beset with hardships, Jerimiah Johnson overcomes lonliness, the brutal loss of his family at the hands of the Crow indians, and emerges as a living legend. This movie should be rated among the best films in cinema history.

The movie is a classic portrait man vs. nature, man vs. man, and man vs. animal. He must conquer all 3 to survive, and meet some crazy characters while traveling the Rocky Mountains.

I love nature, hunting, and all outdoor activities and enjoy when a film like this shows how good we really have it today. It's a great film for kids to watch to get an idea of how hard early times were.

Excellent look back into our history and to see our ancestry build the first civilization. What I did not like was the use of profanity on several occasions

I like the old west movies. I bought this movie because its one of my husbands favorite movies and I gave it to him for Christmas.

This saga, starring Robert Redford, is based on the mountain man Jeremiah Johnson who actually lived in the Rocky Mountains during the mid 1800's. It will produce a feeling of purity with man and nature, but you must put yourself in the position of Johnson to experience the pleasure of nature and God that surrounds us. The endless venue of the Rocky Mountain area in Utah and Colorado will definately cause you to see and feel "God's sculpturing". This movie will make you feel the friendships you have created in your life with those that appreciate the endless value of history and freedom and ruggedness of the individual that lives one with nature and natures inhabitants. May God bless the beauty around us and those that appreciate it.

Breathtaking scenery, terrific plots, surprising twists and fanatastic acting from Redford make this movie a classic must-see. Jeremiah is a man who is tired of the rat race of the mid-1880s, spoils of war, etc. He "retires" to the mountains to become the atypical mountain man and live alone. The characters he encounters during his journey are remarkable. Highest recommendations.

A very realistic period movie. Will Geer plays a a excellent role as Bear Claw and Robert Redford gives a solid performance as an ex-soldier who just wants to trap and be alone in the mountains but fate has much more in store for him. This is one of my favorite movies!

I love the movie. Taht is why I bought it! The only thing I didn't like about this copy...it was subtitled!

This is a beautiful movie. It is filmed all in Utah and the scenery is gorgeous, especially if you like snow.
This is a perfect movie for Robert Redford all action and not a lot of talking.
I could probably sit and watch him sitting in a chair for three hours, well maybe not that long but you get my point!
The story is good, a little sad at one point but the scenery is so beautiful I can't stress that enough.
I hope you will enjoy the movie as much as I have.

We just really enjoy watching this movie when on tv. However sometimes we are unable to sit down and watch the whole movie when on so we decided to buy it.

The scenery is magnificant and the story line is touching. The days of seclusion in the mountains are gone but this lets you live it for a couple of hours. It tells the story of a time when there were places in this country that didn't BELONG to someone. A time when you could be really free! Robert Redford as the handsome mountain man tops off the movie with his charm and good looks. A great movie all the way around. A+++

LOve all!!!!The acting is great , the director wonderful.... A family favorite for years good to own on DVD.. So glad to have found it at a great price and receive it quickly. It was a Birthday gift and was a hit....it has been passed around the family and all love to see again and again.

OK, so a young Robert Redford stars in this film; but this is really where he reveals his gift for acting. The character Jeremiah, a loner who's decided that "civilization" isn't for him, decides to trade it for nature; so he makes his way alone as a "mountain man," developing instincts and knowledge and skill as he goes. The film has some humorous moments and some poignant ones as well, as he becomes a fixture whose relationship with the many native american indians there changes over time. This is Redford at his very best, and the story and direction are top-notch. A film of humour and strength, where it all gets very real. I love this film!!!

This is a great movie for anyone who loves the wilderness. We had a copy and let a friend borrow it and never received it back. We looked forever in stores and could never find it. We were glad to have gotten it so easily on ebay.

This is a great movie. For the most part, it's historically accurate. I hate pictures that don't do research on period clothing, equipment, etc.

Jeremiah Johnson has a good plot and the viewer is always wondering what will happen next.

Highly recommended if you enjoy early frontier history or are a "buckskinner"!

I already left the most blistering feedback I could think of for this miserable seller. I payed immediately with PayPal and never received the item. They sent me an e-mail directing me to a toll free number that is busy 24/7.

These are the kind of sellers that give ebay a bad name, but ebay has not to my knowledge terminated their account.

I was in a big hurry to leave the house and ASSUMED they were reputable.

ebay is a great place to shop but you can get burned on ebay if you get careless.

Oh well , Its a small amount of money, but it's the principle that angers me.

I bought this movie for myself, I like the caritor,and I like Robert Redford. I shop on e-bay because the price is right.
