Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back- Kevin Smith at it Again

This movie is hilarious - the dilaouge is as funny as the cast of misfit cameos like Ben Affleck, Kevin Smith, Shannon Elizabeth, Will Ferrell, George Carlin, etc. The movie has no substantiative plot, but is funny nonetheless because of the witty one-liners and the overload of cursing (beware - not for kids!).

Pros:
It eventually ended.

Cons:
everything

A few years ago, I caught about 15 minutes of this movie and that was quite enough for me. Unfortunately, one of my friends has a copy of this movie and wanted to watch it the other night. I rolled my eyes and prepared to fall asleep on her couch. Well, I didn t fall asleep because she was laughing to hard, so I was subjected to the whole movie. Ugh! It's a good thing I know she is on pain medication and thinks anything is funny right now or I would have to question her intelligence. She owes me big time! Jason Mewes Jay Kevin Smith Silent Bob Ben Affleck Holden McNeil Jeff Anderson Randal...

This movie is one big x-rated joke.

Pros:
The audience is spared some of the vivid sexual details.

Cons:
The f word is used over 200 times plus other colorful phrases.

I was fortunate to be off on this Labor Day weekend and had the opportunity to go to the movies for I though would be a little comedy relief. Kevin Smith s new comedy Jay and Silent Bob Strike back is a comedy that takes pot shots at Hollywood, Miramax Films, Internet geeks, Generation X rs, drugs and of course sleazy sex jokes. In fact, if you removed the sexual innuendos, the movie would probably be about 30 minutes shorter. This was my first Kevin Smith film so I was not familiar with his previous films, or his characters Jay (Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob who plays himself appear. However,..

Jay and Silent Bob Have Your Money.

Pros:
Not really. The blonde clerk from 'Clerks', who we haven't seen for a while.

Cons:
Pretty well everything.

The question actually becomes, 'Is there anything to say about this movie?' The answer, oddly enough for a self-proclaimed movie critic, is no. This movie just comes down to a recommendation, a thumbs-up or thumbs-down. There is simply no point to anything else, just as there is no point to the movie. I suppose you had to see it coming really. 'Clerks' was a magnificently funny movie, and I could watch it every six months or so (and I'm not real big on watching movies again). It got itself a tidy little cult following, and Kevin Smith became a name that people mentioned. His next movies were..

The Internet? What the F*ck is The Internet?

Pros:
A handful of truly uproarious scenes...

Cons:
...buried in a whole lot of stagnant vulgarity.

I can't tell you all how much I was looking forward to seeing Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. As a longtime supporter of Kevin Smith and his films (despite only really "liking" two of his four earlier films), I was anticipating a non-stop machine-gun report of shocks, mugs and helpless peals of laughter. I was mildly disappointed. Obviously still under the assumption that dirty words and gestures automatically equal high comedy, Smith seems more interested in making his latest feature more raunchy than his previous works without necessarily making it more funny. But why whine? Yes, the groans.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Laughs!

Pros:
Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious! This film is a non-stop joke-fest.

Cons:
A few of the jokes just don't work.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is a hilarious comedy that takes a swing at everybody and manages to connect consistently right smack on your funny bone. By far, this is out-and-out the funniest film of the year. Not only does writer/director Kevin Smith lampoon every movie under the sun, including Star Wars, Planet of the Apes, Scream, E.T., Charlie's Angels, The Fugitive and every single Ben Affleck film, but he also turns the camera on himself and mocks his past movies and his devoted fan base. Hell, he even pokes fun at movies that haven't come out yet (Scooby Doo), films that will...
