This Woman Knows How To Rock

Alanis is one of my favorite artists, but all biases aside, I think just about anyone can get into this album. It is fueled by all sorts of emotions, from childhood angst, feel-good grooving, anger over relationships, and even jealousy. Alanis seems to always put her heart and soul into her lyrics and the music is powerful enough to complement her voice perfectly.
Jagged Little Pill is a very good album to listen to in the car, on road trips, cleaning house, or even just relaxing! Some tracks are up-beat, such as "All I Really Want," which opens the album, and some are more somber and serious, such as "Perfect," which is a song reflecting on unfulfilled parent/child relationships. You will remember some of the chart-topping tracks, such as "Hand in My Pocket," "You Oughta Know," "You Learn," and even "Ironic" from their heavy radio play, especially from the mid-to-late 90's.
This album also features some interesting aspects, such as an alternate take of "You Oughta Know" (track 13), and if you let the CD play through entirely, you will find a secret track called "Forgive Me Love" written into the album a while after the last song has ended.
Definitely worth a try, I would recommend it to anyone who can enjoy a strong woman singing about her life and values in a very powerful way. Every track can be enjoyed!

This is one of those CD's that is a must-have for any music library, and is included in scores of "Best Album" lists by an impressive array of mixed reviewers. I purchased this when it debuted and literally wore out at least two CD's from overplay. It's a unique and incredibly diverse album with vocals that will sear your brain, and lyrics that explore anger, love, bitterness, angst, and jealousy in depth and with a confident, smart style that is almost unheard of in a breakthrough artist. The album contains a list of songs that are superior in every aspect and stand out uniquely and unforgettably on their own, with absolutely no "filler", and include crooning ballads, sultry soul, raging rock, and more. It's sarcastic, crude, rude, and harsh; yet it was honest and actually made sense. This album will not leave you unaffected, even for those who are not fans of this incredible musical gem. The music, lyrics, and voice of Alannis Morrissette are strong, with an incredible range of emotion and depth that reach both men and women. Although criticized for "faking" the angst and anger that are part of her new persona (Alannis was a bubble-gum pop singer in Canada before crashing into the US charts with JLP), she deserves every hymn of praise sung for this unique and talented compilation. Many people will probably remember many of the songs as they received heavy radio airplay in the 90's. It's hard to believe that it's been ten years since the release of this rock/alternative masterpiece. It's as contemporary now as it was then as a voice for young women True, it's been a while now since I reached into my CD library and listened to Jagged Little Pill, but I will always remember what it did for me back when it came out. It still carries a powerful wave of nostalgia for me when I overhear any of the songs on this memorable classic. Isnt' that what all great music should do?

EVERY SINGLE SONG ON THIS CD IS JUST AWESOME!! I FIND THAT VERY HARD TO FIND THESE DAYS. EVEN THO THIS CD IS AN OLD ONE, IT REMAINS ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVES! IT HAS A LITTLE OF EVERYTHING- AND THERES A SURPRISE AT THE END OF THE CD! AFTER THE LAST SONG IS OVER DONT SHUT OFF THE CD PLAYER, WAIT A FEW MINUTES AND ANOTHER SONG WILL PLAY. ITS JUST ALANIS SINGING, NO INSTRUMENTS, AND ITS JUST BEAUTIFUL!

Every track is awesome-- everyone should have this album. I used to have this is high school but i lent it to a friend who lent it to a friend and i've never gotten it back- thank goodness for ebay- i needed to hear the entire album from front to back one more time. This is the album you put in the car on a road trip- it's singable and puts you in the mood to have a good time!

I had to rebuy this cd, because I wore the first one out from 95. Its a great angry CD when Alanis was still jaded. Now that she is in love, she is a little softer and not so angry lol. I recommend this CD to anyone that likes rock music.

Easy pill to swallow!This was one of the best albums to ever come out, as faras being such a great collection of songs to be offered by an artist at one time, O.K., Dark side of the Moon was, and is the A1 standard for this in my opinion, but Morissette did something that her and few,have ever done! She wont be able to do it again, and thats a good thing!

WHOA!
I wish Alanis was still so angsty, this album is brilliant!
My favorite female vocalist of all time.
Most of the tracks are flawless and well written.

I rated this CD at "good". It has a "hidden" 14th song and is fun to listen to. Some of the songs sound a little much alike. There are 3 or 4 swears on this cd. If I could suggest one thing to the artist it would be not sound like she is mad/and or yelling so much. It's not that bad but could be a little softer.
In all, I will continue to listen to this cd with pleasure.

One of the BEST Female Artists Of Our Time...This album is a classic. Alanis Morissette has a unique voice that take her songs to a whole new level. Her lyrics are blunt and true. She sings about the harsh realities of life and tribulations in such an intense way that you just can't help but become a fan of her music. I love her and I can't wait for a new album!!!! Highly recommended.

This is my third copy of this CD. As I move to different countries, I always seem to lose this CD. However, I always find myself going back to it. This is in my opinion Alanis's very best. A definite must have for anyone's music collection.

This could be one of the best albums from start to finish. Every song is good and a little different. A lot of them deal with her personal life. I can listen to the album over and over. Great for driving if you like good music while driving and maybe drive a little faster than normal. It is thought to be an agressive or angry album because it comes from the heart and from true experiences. If you can come across this album at a cheap price you got a great deal. If you buy it new you still have gotten a good deal. Go Alanis.

Great CD!!This is a great CD with at least 3 major hits by Alanis. They are hard hitting and lately, Alanis hasn't been able to come up with anything to beat this CD. Her biggest hit on this CD was "You Oughtta Know."

One of a Kind!I just purchased on Ebay yet another copy of this superb CD! Yup just cant get enough of this truly talented Artist. We came across her when it first came out and she had not brocken out into the main stream and started her tours....
I am frim the UK and have now had 4 copies of her music including her Acoustic version of the same CD and also but also her DVD... Buy this and You will learn and see so much more of the humour and the inside of this unque young woman...
By the way my last CD walked and i was left with the case, one of my young daughters seemd to have accindently forgotten to put it back in its case on a recemt visit to me here in teh valley of teh Sun in Arizona! :-)
The resaon for the other copies was quire simply that if you play them long enough they kind of sort of wear out! :-)
So, I can only say buy or boorrow a cpoy and you will just love to play it and play it loud!
By the way I am now 53 years young and still loving it!
