EXAMINING THE CONSPIRACY EVIDENCE OF JFK'S ASSASINATION
Review created: 04/29/07(updated 05/10/07)

The assassination of the youngest and most beloved 35th US President is examined by the district attorney of New Orleans (Kevin Costner). His wife (sissy Spacek) is frustrated keeping the home fires burning with the DA becomes more and more invested in solving JFK's murder.

Oliver Stone directs this politically well researched film. It's loaded with history film of the Kennedy's before, during, and immediately after November 22, 1963, the day most of us 50yo or older remember exactly where we were the moment one of a end the Viet Nam War now, end the corruption in the government in collusion with the mobsters, end the suffering of people of color in the US.

The film's theory is that these are some of the policies JFK held out to the American public as his key objectives. They had social justice value, financial value, and the creation of a better government at heart. Beliefs the Presidential Kennedy flet would empower out nation considerably.

What finally persuaded the DC's wife that he wasn't obsessed with Kennedy was the murder of Martin Luther King, Jr., followed so soon by the murder of RFK (Bobby Kennedy).

Costner was brilliant in the courtroom monologue that went on for a good 15 minutes, when he details in his closing argument the whole big picture of the US government being deeply involved with the cover-up of the true events surrounding JFK assassination.

The disclosure of the US government's well hidden evidence of its own involvement in the cover-up of JFK's murder has perhaps never before been but together so well in a film that the mass public can hear and consider. Some of the evidence has still not been made available to the US public. Surely, after coming away from this film and the director's cuts and analysis in the second DVD in the set, I have to wonder why our government doesn't trust "we the people" to know the things that are still hidden. What are they so afraid of us knowing? is the question I am left with.

JFK's assassination case is unresolved. How come that's okay enough with us? This was the President we voted into office and probably would have done so for a second term. How come we don't demand to know the truth?

I bought it because every American should have it, watch it many times, and and show it to others. Watch the extra stuff on the second CD. Very important. This was - and continues to be - the greatest conspiracy in the USA. It continues. WHY did we rush into Iraq? Note that Colin Powell got out of the Bush White House. It should be painted and be the Gray House. But it extends far beyond the Office of the President. Too many witnesses and principals died under unique circumstances. JFK's brain disappeared. It would show the direction of the fatal shot came from a different direction than the Dallas Book Depository.

An instant classic. Loved the movie mainly because of the subject it was about. Seemed very accurate according to history and is very controversial. Will always be one of my favorite movies.

I bought this movie because of the history aspect. I can recall the day this event happened. I felt this movie gave the viewer, of what may have been. I felt, the actors did a very good job in their rolls. Over all, I've rated this movie excellent. I would recommend this movie for those with an open mind for entertainment purposes only.

Politics aside, quite simply the best shot and edited film of this era. Every American needs to see this film and draw his own conclusion. The truth shall set you free. Oh, hate to spoil the surprise ending: the government refuses to release more than a million pages of documents from the CIA surrounding the assassination--although they insist Oswald did it. Sure. SEE this film!

Kevin Costner does a terrific job in this Oliver Stone produced flick. The story of the JFK life and assasination is done well here. Almost like a history on film - and exciting not boring to boot.

Oliver Stone's J.F.K. - Is The Truth Out There?
Review created: 11/06/07
by: AliventiAsylum-- a member of Epinions and Advisor in Movies

Pros:
acting, setting, commentary

Cons:
sometimes tries too hard to be convincing, can be hard to follow, length

As of late, I've become more and more intrigued with the investigation behind the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Those reasons are largely due to a personal connection I have to the investigation. I like to view various movies and documentaries and compare what I have heard through those avenues as to what's been depicted in various films. Oliver Stone's J.F.K. was of particular interest to me. I hadn't seen it before and was curious as to how Stone envisioned what took place. In particular, I was looking for his angle on the connections between the Mafia and the assassination of.

Pros:
Slick cinematography, great editing, fine cast, and a John Williams score

Cons:
Twists facts to fit Stone's conspiracy beliefs

One of the consequences of the shoddy and let s be frank here boring manner in which American history has been taught in our schools is that most of us acquire most of our knowledge about historical figures and/or events from movies and TV shows that are primarily made to entertain or, in the case of war flicks or political thrillers made during World War II and the Cold War, persuade audiences to support a particular cause or government action. For instance, until I read Stephen E. Ambrose s D-Day: June 6, 1944 The Climactic Battle of World War II, I was sold on many of the notions about the.

JFK: A Criminal Investigation Is Not a Movie.
Review created: 05/20/00
by: macresarf1 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Brilliantly shot and edited film of six possible variations on a plot to kill JFK.

Cons:
Cleansing of DA Garrison's character and Costner's performance undercut last 20 minutes.

What Assassins did to President John F. Kennedy in about six seconds at Dallas nearly 40 years ago, Director Oliver Stone does in just under seven minutes for his 1991 film JFK, mostly behind the credits. Remarkably, only a half a minute of that footage is staged. (We see documentary clips intercut with scenes of ALLEGED material witness Rose Cheramie [Sally Kirkland] being thrown from a car, later treated in a hospital.) Within the abortive investigation and criminal conspiracy trial of bon vivant businessman Clay Shaw by New Orleans' DA Jim Garrison, DirectorStone spends the next three...

  MY FIRST REAL PAIN
Review created: 03/25/00
by: susidee34 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
acting and story line

Cons:
none

I was a senior in high school when JFK was murdered. This was the first president I was going to be able to vote for and I was excited. To have been alive and old enough to realize what was going on during this tumultuous era was very eerie. There was so much turmoil and hatred you did not have a clear thought for years. With the release of the movie JFK by Oliver Stone, this period reinforced itself on me once again. It did not matter what party you believed in, the fact of the matter is this was a horrible time. Most people that viewed this film thought it was too unbelievable to be real. I.
