Island of the Blue Dolphins (VHS)

This was one of my favorite books when I was a child. Then I saw the movie in school and loved it even more. Now I can share this story with my Granddaughters.

this is wonderful, based on a true story. It's pointed toward early teens but all will enjoy this family film. A young girl stranded on an island has to learn to fend for herself. She makes friends with a wild dog has many adventures over the years that she is stranded there. She encounters hostile fur traders and is eventually rescued by spanish missionaries. I fell in love with the book when I was is grade school. I only wish they would re-release this on dvd

I remember this movie as a child, and wanted to have it for my collection for the grandkids. I love this movie, and recommend it to all who like a good kids show.

I never received this purchase. I emailed seller. Did not hear back until I threatened to turn into Ebay. Offered to take it off my credit card, but we'll have to see if it was done. I don't have high hopes due to lack of communication with seller.

This is a great movie version of a Newbury award winning book by the same title. I remember seeing this movie when I was young and it made a great impression on me because it portrayed a young girl as self-sufficient, strong and intelligent. My daughter was recently required to to a school project on the book, and I was thrilled to find the VHS available on Ebay to add to her project. Good movie for young and old alike.

This follows the book fairly well. If you are teaching a thematic unit, this movie would be a good addition.

Although their are a few differences between the book and the movie the movie still stays with how the book was written. Although this movie is old it still is very good. Good Buy!
