Invincible
Invincible is great, it's well acted and is an incredible true-story. Mark Wahlberg is great as Vince Papali and Greg Kinnear is superb as Coach Dick Vermeil.
The movie itself is awesome. The movie not only features great football action, but also a look inside the life of an average Philadelphian circa 1976. I not only enjoyed every aspect of this movie. The fact that it's based on a true story makes it that much better.
Walt Disney makes the best sports movies, and this film is no exception.

Invincible, (no not the upcoming Invincible Iron Man movie!), was recently released on DVD. It's the true story of South Philly native Vince Papale who played three season with the Philadelphia Eagles football team after winning a spot in an open camp.
Just checked it out yesterday at our local BlockBuster video store, (we own stock in the company), and viewed it last night.
Tina grew up in the greater Philadelphia area, so she's been an Eagles fan long before she was introduced to comic book collecting by me. She is a true fan, much like her Uncle John who helped raised her, so she knew all about Vince Papale. And yes, she's heard the stories of Eagles fans booing Santa Claus (although she was too young to remember it).
So how did it fare for a movie viewer like myself, who just recently became interested in the Philadelphia area and its football team?
Well it was pretty darn GREAT! It reminded me so much of the first Rocky Balboa film, who was from the same South Philly area, and also struggled to become a star. However, this was about a true person, not a fictional character, and it made me check out the bonus features, which included how this movie came to be, after it was first told in a 4 minute promo on an earlier Monday Night Football game. If you rent the DVD, I suggest you watch the bonus feature before you watch the movie.
The last time I was in Philly I had some fantastic cheesesteaks so, the street scenes made me hungry! Thank goodness we have "Philly Frank's" out here in San Diego area for when we're 'jonesing' for cheesesteaks!! Speaking of the street scenes, much of the movie was shot in Philadelphia. In fact, the daughter of a friend of Tina's served Mark Wahlberg several times at her Philly restaurant while they were in town filming the movie. (He was polite and a good tipper!)
The movie is definitely not to be missed... even if you are NOT an Eagles fan or even a football fan. It has an inspirational story and can been seen by a family audience.

This movie is a great movie for those that love football. Even if you are not an Eagles fan you will love this movie. Vince Papale over cam tremendous odds to end up on the Philadelphia Eagles. In the end you can not help cheering for him. Great movie that you can enjoy with the family.

Mark Walburge just nails it you would swear it happened last year insted of the seventys a real underdog story that anyone with a dream that dreams can and sometimes come true I would put anyone that is down and out in front of the tv and let them watch they will walk away with a new attitude and do there best to pull themself back up Ha if Vince can we can to just watch anyone that even can tollerate football will be hooked on this movie this is a must to add to your dvd collection and I don't care witch team you root for.

One of the best all time produced biographies that I have ever seen... Walt Disney pictures did a spectacular job in the production of this film and according to Vince Popali (the main character & excuse spelling errors) it was done very accurately and professionally.. I wished to own the dvd for myself and my family and thanks to ebay and the wonderful vendors that offered it for a fair price, I had to buy it.. I would and will definately recommend this movie to any sports fan or movie buff that enjoys a human triumph over adversity.. I personally give the movie 3.5 out of 4 stars but my brother says I am nuts and gives it 4 out of 4 stars... It is a clean movie the entire family can enjoy..

InvincibleThe movie was really good. It makes a believer in everyone. One ordinary guy tries out for a professional football team. He never played college ball, but he was good and loved the game. This movie shows how the love of the game is more inportant than the big time endorsements and contracts that come with modern day sports. This is a movie for all of those who always loved the game. I am a huge sports fan and would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good sports movie!

InvincibleOne of my favorite movie themes is true sports movies. I loved Miracle, Glory Road, Goal:The Dream Begins, Hoosiers, Remember the Titans, The Rookie. And now I'm adding Invincible to my collection. Mark Wahlberg really captured the character of Vince. He was Vince! This movie is an emotional one. It had me laughing, cheering, crying and cursing. All in one movie! I was never an Eagles fan. But I do remember this football player and his grit! Vince was truly a unique man. His spirit for the game and life came through with the determination to stay until asked to leave. I guess the joke was on him when Coach echoed those golden words, "Welcome to the Eagles!" I only wish Vince could have made it to the Super Bowl! But, I guess his first touchdown kept his Father going for another 30 years!! Another great movie from Disney!

I saw Invincible preview on another Disney DVD. Since I've enjoyed several of the Disney sports themed movies, I decided to give this one a spin, & bought it as a used DVD. ~~ This has a more character centered story line, rather than football action in it -- which I enjoyed. ~~ If you're a dedicated Eagles Fan, you'll enjoy the background story, but again, not that much in terms of the football (within the movie, only 1 game won!). ~~~ In retrospect, I thinking this is one I could have rented, rather than buy.

I am amazed that the NFL would have open tryouts and to top it off, they draft a older man without any college ball experience. It was good that Ol Vince had played some ball even though it was like parking lot(touch)football. He shows his heart and his natural abilities to play this sport successfully.I liked where he finds love after a dramic break up and she loves football as much as he does if not more. This gives a lift to everyone that has ever wanted to tryout for the NFL and was unable to due the regular draft from colleges for the best rookies. What an inspirational movie for all those who dream big. Now those dreams can come true for some.

Invincible, DVDI loved the classic"come from nothing" story. Knowing this was based on a REAL person is inspiring to me. I also think Mark Wahlberg is one of the most underrated actors out there. It's a movie the whole family can enjoy together, which, is rare today.

What I love about "Invincible" is that it is based on the true story of one Vince Papale, who made it in the NFL as a rookie with his hometown team, the Philadelphia Eagles at the age of 30 in 1976.
I purchased it for that reason, and also because I am an Eagles fan who loves his team and the stories of their heroes.
I recommend and endorse this DVD to all who love a story of a working class football hero.

Disney has done it again. By casting Mark Walhberg they were able to pull it off. This is an awesome movie. I would recomend it to any Football fan, Disney fan, or Mark Walhberg fan. It definately appeals to all three!!

Typical football movie about the underdog making it and proving everyone wrong. It has many comedic moments and some emotional points as well. There was also a great point at keeping the time era, the 70's, very real. This is a great movie for the avid football fan.

I am a tough movie critic as I am a very cynical person. However, this movie was fantastic. Great characterizaion and a great script. At first, prior to seeing this movie I was skeptical that it would be another cheesy, football feel good flick. I was pleasantly surprised with this story line and its origional scenarios. There was a bit of predictability in the movie but I was able to easily enjoy the movie despite. A great feel good movie and a breath of fresh air from all the negative, over-the-top hollywood flicks right now. Perfect for a movie collection as it is great for a wide range of movie watchers....children to adult.

I've already watched it twice. Great story and great actors portraying the story. I will be watching it a couple of more times since we are in the heart of the NFL season. Definitely a must buy for any football fan!

I am not a huge NFL fan. However, I did rent and enjoy this movie. I found it interesting.
I found the look inside football, training camp, and mid-1970's Phili really cool. It was interesting to see a local boy bring back hope to an area that is being economically destroyed.
The football is great. The look inside the underdog and the rookie coach as they both grow and learn was incredible. Wahlberg was believable as a rookie football player.
My only complaint about the intire move, and why I didn't give it 5/5, was the tacked on love story. :( I found it slightly annoying.
Otherwise it is great football fun!

Great Motivational & Fun FilmInspiring story made all the more interesting because it was based on real life. My sister is not a football fan at all, but she so found the perseverance of an ordinary man so motivating, she watched it twice in the 3 days she rented it, then bought it to keep.
