Interview with the Vampire (2000, VHS)

Throw in Rice, a Pitt, and Cruise Along
Review created: 10/17/02

Pros:
Pitt, Cruise, Dunst.

Cons:
homoeroticism removed.

If you take the life out of Interview With A Vampire it all boils down to an epic tale, told in narration form about two male vampires and the love they shared. That is, if you were to boil the book down. As a movie, Interview With A Vampire is lacking much of the homoeroticism that was present in Anne Rice s original tale however, since Rice herself was responsible for the screenplay of which the movie is based off of, that lack should not be held against the film. Interview With A Vampire is an interesting movie, if not as an example of a movie bringing together two up-and-coming (at that...

Pros:
Jordan's direction. Visual design. Score. Kirsten Dunst.

Cons:
Brad Pitt. Antonio Banderas.

Today was the day that journalists were allowed to swarm all over the set of Flying Down to Reno so we could begin to drum up some publicity for our little film. We filmed our sound bites for the inevitable HBO making of documentary and I was gracious and kind to an endless parade of reporters representing the best of periodic journalism including 'Horse and Hound' and 'Turkey Hunting Today'. As becomes my status as living legend, I was given a comfortable chair at the Chuck E. Cheese near the singing hippo. Margo Channing was interviewed back in the arcade area next to the 'Street Fighter'...

Pros:
Interviewing a vampire, what a friggin concept!

Cons:
sure, there's a boat load, but who cares

Browbeat me all you want. I found this pitiful adaptation of a vampires life enjoyable. I liked the premise of Brad Pitt and Christian Slater setting down for a little tete-a-tete. I liked the campy humor and the outlandish floating, flying and generally otherwise bad stunts. Ok, biting my tongue, I even liked Tom Cruise with his prissy shirts and ruffles and his horribly lonely life. I guess one never thinks what it would be like to live hundreds of years with no real friends. (that is, until I wrote this review) I also liked the fact that although these two pretty boy toys remain pretty ...

Pros:
Great acting and visuals; faithful to the book

Cons:
Drags a little towards the end; some disturbing sexual content

I first read Anne Rice s Interview with the Vampire about twelve years ago, after a college professor suggested I might like it. I wouldn t go so far as to say I liked it, but it certainly intrigued me. When I heard rumors that the book was to be made into a movie, I could only shake my head in disbelief. The book is so rich with poetry and introspection, I couldn t imagine it being successfully translated to film. Then I heard rumors that Tom Cruise had been cast to play the role of Lestat. This was getting better and better, I thought. If nothing else, the movie should be worth something as.

  Interview With Shallow Acting

Pros:
Beautiful costumes and beautiful people

Cons:
Bad acting

Interview With A Vampire is the film version of Anne Rice's best selling book of the same Title. This film, to me, was made for one sole purpose and that was as a vehicle for the two main stars, Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise. It was also made so that people could sit in a movie theater and watch these two stars look incredibly hot in vintage clothes and bite and suck the blood of incredibly hot women who have lots of cleavage. The Story: Interview With A Vampire is done entirely in flashbacks as Louie, played by Brad Pitt, tells his story. He starts at the point where he was made by and became the.
