Pros:
Unmatchable lyrial abillity. Rugged, catchy production. "Underground" atmosphere.

Cons:
"The A**" - That's it.

A review I ve always been itching to re-write is a solo debut from one of my all-time favourite artists (yeah, even close to you know who) and one of the most skilled and intelligent lyricists there is in hip-hop. This man? Pharoahe Monch. As one half of underground battlers Organized Konfusion (along with Prince Poetry), PM has rapidly ascended to the position of one of the most respected lyrical wizards the rap game has to offer. And that s what he is a lyrical wizard. He and Prince Poetry formed a duo that soldiered away in the dark wastelands of hip-hop underground consistently gaining...

Pros:
Underground Production, Venomously Incredible Lyrics, Creativity, Variety, Intelligence, Amazing Guest Appearances

Cons:
Not all Perfect Tracks, Some Weaker Production

Organized Konfusion blazed through hip hop with three amazing albums for us all. However, it was only a matter of time before the star, Pharoahe Monch, would give us his own point of view. So in 1999, Pharoahe Monch released an album that some say is better than any of the collaborative efforts of Organized Konfusion, namely Internal Affairs. When this was released, Rawkus Records was heavily struggling in attaining its credibility back. In 1999, the year where seemingly, everything in hip hop went wrong, they released the awful Lyricist Lounge Vol. 2 and the mediocre Soundbombing 3...

Pros:
Underground production-melodic, gritty and dark. SUPERB lyricism which is diverse, some great guest appearances.

Cons:
The A-s

In an industry sparred with half-hearted lyricist s, Pharoahe Monch is certainly the exception to the rule. After hearing Organized Konfusion s arguable classic album Stress: The Extinction Agenda, I really knew this was a man not to let slip through my fingers. To say the word shine is not just to Pharoahe s talent as an emcee. So you could hardly imagine my excitement when he released his 1999 classic (yes classic!) album Internal Affairs. Not only did this album contain supreme ruling guest appearances from Canibus, Talib Kweli and Mos Def (to name a few), but Pharaohe took boldly on the...

Pharoahe Monch Builds a Monument to Hip-Hop with Internal Affairs.

Pros:
Underground feel, creative production, tight lyrics, phat beats, inspired collaborations.

Cons:
"The A**", a couple more O.K. joints would have been nice.

After struggling for over 8 years to make a home for himself in the desert wasteland of hip-hop s underground, Pharoahe Monch finally builds a testament to his rap journey with Internal Affairs. Filled with creative production, stirring lyrics, and phat beats, this album is what fans of the Queens rapper have been waiting for, even throughout his tenure as a member of Organized Konfusion. While his work perhaps not as profound as the monuments of Cheops or Ramsses, this Pharoahe Monch s masterpiece is definitely not to be missed. Track Listing 1. Intro 2. Behind Closed Doors 3. Queens 4. Rape.

Pros:
Lyrics, Collaborations, Production

Cons:
Not many...

1. Intro- I consider this a song instead of an intro cause Pharoahe totally rips it for little over 3 minutes. This jazzy track is produced by former EPMD deejay, DJ Scratch, also known for his production for most of Busta Rhymes hits. Also contains an ill sample of Chuck D saying, Refuse to Lose. This is a great way to introduce a solo Pharoahe to the world!! 2. Behind Closed Doors- This first official track of the album which is also the b-side to the Simon Says single. Also made famous from the Lugz commercial. This Pharoahe-produced track is very haunting and with heavy piano-laced back...
