Get this one or the last Special Editon because they are the same Edition. Just make sure you don't get fooled by the Limited Edition, it's basically barebones with 2 cuts of the movie. This edition and the newer one has both cuts plus a ton of features, it's a 2 disc set.

Love the actors and the characters they play. Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum have a quirky chemistry that really works! Cheesy parts can be overlooked because of the over all humorous entertainment the movie gives.

independence dayim not sure why but this is a movie i like because is sci fi and i guess some of the actors have been in other movies i have liked and i guess with them in it and it being sci fi is the reason i like it. its got good action and a couple different side stories like the marriage and the dispute between the husband and the president also the affair of a military officer with a stripper with class and him wanting to be an astronaut and then realizing the love and getting married. you also have a guy thats misunderstood about his abduction by aliens and then becoming a hero to his kids in the end. i guess it had about everything in a movie action sci fi love and a coming together to eliminate the problem.

Independence DayOhh This movie is well written! Add in a Great Director, Fantastic actors and GREAT Special Affects and it is a WOW experience!! I STRONGLY suggest you get the wide screen version so you can enjoy ALL the special effects. Some of the effects, when viewed in "Formatted to fit your screen" are lost BUT the action and acting still carries it through. Still even with a TV that shows wide screen in "Letter Box" I cannot stress enough the added wonder of the special effects
This is a good movie for almost all ages. I have viewed it several times alone and with my kids and grandkids! Please Enjoy it!!!! Have a good day.

This movie is one of Will Smith's best. Great movie with a wonderful message!! The message in this movie is about unity among the world. At this point in time we need that. The president in this movie delivers a great message that can be shared by all! I highly reccomend it!!

I bought the original version as well as going to the theatre to see this film. I was blowed away at the story line, the acting, special effects.
For any sci-fi fanatic, this is the film to see. It offers, second to none in special effects that will hold you from the beginning to end.
This movie is a tradition for me, I watch it every July 3rd and brings me back to what Independence day should be all about.

Up until now, I always thought of Independence Day as one of those "perfect movies". One problem, one solution, and a hell of a presentation. Basically, Independence Day has got all of this. Filming continues on Flying Down to Reno and I had a hectic morning on the set as we began the camera set-ups for my big solo number, I Could Have Crashed All Night. My make-up call was something of a nightmare as the Chuck E. Cheese cleaning crew had misplaced my jars of Lesterene Strawberry Pancake Number 2 and the Avocado/Shrimp cleanser that I absolutely must have to be my radiant and lovely self on camera. Fortunately, I had a spare Lesterene Spam/Pineapple exfoliant in my bag and was able to start with that while the production assistants searched the dumpster for my beauty products....
