Although the Grateful Dead were selling out concerts year after year to the tune of millions of dollars for nearly 30 years, The only single ever to make it to the Top-Ten was "A Touch of Grey" from the album "In The Dark." I am not a Deadhead. My parents are not/were not Deadheads. However, the Grateful Dead's 1987 album "In the Dark" was an essential part of the music of my childhood. I admit that my knowledge of the Dead is fairly pitiful: I know this album and two other songs- "Sugar Magnolia" and "Casey Jones." I am ignorant to the rest of their music. While I love "In the Dark," I do not feel that I have the right to buy a Grateful Dead T-shirt: I am not enough of a fan. (I will avoid my ranting on Dead-head-wannabes.)
