Save Me From This Horrible Nightmare...

Pros:
"Vogue" is the coolest Madonna song ever
Cons:
15 words isn't enough
(Disclaimer: Those looking for a brief description of the album will find what their looking for in the "Album Overview" section. The section titled "Detailed Track Discussion" is meant only for those who want to read detailed descriptions of the songs, and they do not constitute the essence of this review. Lastly and most importantly, this review is not necessarily written by the point of view of a Madonna fan.) Introduction: This is the soundtrack Madonna worked on to "inspired" by the Dick Tracy movie, which she also starred in! Either that, or there was no place for "Vogue" in the script..

She's Choking Me! She's Choking Me - I'm Breathless

Pros:
Something to Remember, Back in Business.
Cons:
Madonna goes beserk! on too many tracks.
I m Breathless no not really! and neither is this album when complied in Madonna s overall career. The music is from and inspired by the film Dick Tracy which basically afforded Madonna to return to acting all sultry (Body of Evidence) and singing by showing off her new blond curls (she was blond in Papa Don t Preach but they were gelled back). The soundtrack is Madonna s best attempt to be comedic and have a movie to blame it all on. The question of who s that girl has been answered she a girl who loves a man in yellow and sings till we are red in the face. Madonna s inspired album begins...

Don't Like Madonna? Listen to this CD and You Will

Pros:
A Different Side of Madonna
Cons:
Unlike Her Other Music - But That's Okay To Me!
Up until this album, what we heard from Madonna was pop/dance tracks. Who could forget her great contributions to this genre with songs like Lucky Star, Borderline, Into the Groove, Like a Virgin, and Papa Don't Preach? Along comes Warren Beatty and his movie Dick Tracy. After begging to audition for the role of Breathless Mahoney, Madonna won the part and moved on to recording this soundtrack, I'm Breathless: Music From and Inspired by the Film Dick Tracy. Hands down, this is one of Madonna's most underrated cd's in her collection. It doesn't sound anything like her previous releases....

A Swing For Legitimacy Has It's Moments
Review created: 08/11/04
by: easterbradford -- a member of Epinions
Pros:
Sondheim's contributions are legendary masterpieces
Cons:
Madonna's attempts at recreating Sondheim's feel sometimes fall flat.
The album "I'm Breathless" may be the one and only instant when, musically speaking, Madonna literally did whatever the heck she wanted without giving the slightest regard to what was marketable. Surely no one is going to purport that 40's style campy jazz tracks and ballad were the height of chart success in the year 1990. "I'm Breathless" purports to be music "From and Inspired by the Film "Dick Tracy"". In point of fact, only three tracks are actually from the film, and they are by far the best tracks on the album. All three of the tracks were written for the picture by Broadway legend ...

Breathtaking...

Pros:
Fun nightclub-of-the-past style
Cons:
"Cry Baby" and "I'm Going Bananas"
I purchased this album when it first came out, in 1990. I have always enjoyed Madonna's music (with the notable exception of the album _Bedtime Stories_), and this album had the added bonus of being linked with the movie _Dick Tracy_, which I had seen on a date with a guy I had a huge crush on! Over time, I've also come to admire Madonna's ability to re-make herself, almost as if she were many different women. This album stands out to me among Madonna albums, for numerous reasons. The most obvious is that the style of the music (except for the song "Vogue") does not fit into the usual pop...
