I Am Legend (2008, DVD)

this movies is very good in the alternate theatrical version with controversial ending watch this one first.

I Am Legend is a great movie. Little odd I should say but will have you sitting tens in the sofa in almost 2 hour. Should I tell to much abaote the movie, Is the surprise moments totally destroyed. So I don´t, only will recommended this a great and little different from the other in this type of style!

Will Smith is one of my favorite actors.Anything he is in, I will watch....The movie shows you how easily MAN can destroy MAN with just ONE person that does not follow the RULES and thinks themselves GOD. I know it is fiction, but, we as humans think ourselves indestructable......Big mistake..........It will make you cry as well as laugh. A good flick and an important message.............

I am not sure why Will Smith too this role. He is an excellent actor, this script and story line were way below his ability. I thoiugh the story line was weak, the flashback scenes were sappy and unconvincing. I am unsure why the named the alternate ending "Controversial". except to entice people to buy it. Overall, I would take a pass on this movie.

The theatrical version really was a big disappointment! Could not see what everyone liked so much about the movie! Purchased the set with the alternate ending and was delighted with the movie! The original ending made the whole movie seem like a dumb mindless zombie movie or something but the alternate was the one they should have released in the first place!

I like that Will Smith gives an amazingly believeable performace. He keeps you glued to the screen because you don't want to miss a thing.

JUST WATCHED THE FILM... not sure if I'll sleep tonight... I'm in the television/film business and I've never seen anything to compare this with... Also from Manhattan.. I've walked, spent time on every street in the movie.. how did they do this? I'll have to watch all the film info... I'm truly blown away.... I'm also a 9-11 vol. fireman who experienced "all" of 9-11... I was in the street under WTC Tower 2 when it blew up and collapsed in my face.... that was frightening... I was pulled out of the debris... but this film !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Will Smith is absolutely fantastic .... the film is "OUT OF THIS WORLD" ! BE PREPARED !!

Once again Will Smith brings his superstar talent in this orignal thriller. The suspense and comic action is all there to make even the least interested person engaged in the film. A definete must have for this years movie lineup. Don't hesitate to pick up a copy.

I really like Will Smith in a lot of his roles. He did a decent job of making the best of the situation.

The story line was atrocious. It was a computerized 'B' movie. *Spoiler Alert* - don't read on if you actually want to see this movie.

First off, they quarantine NYC. Nevermind the several months prior that others in the country would have been infected. The director just wanted some explosions. Then all these infected people only come out at night because UV affects them? They can figure out how to rig up a sophisticated trap, but can't figure out to wear long sleeves and pants? When was the last time that you got sun burnt from normal electric lights? Then why do all the 'zombies' run when light is shined on them?

It just gets worse from there. A woman and her kid just happen to show up at night with these zombies all around, and she happens to be carrying a big light and saves Will Smith from a swarm of zombies. Don't forget that infected humans can now scale walls at full running speed. Oh, and they can repeatedly smash into a wall and not break bones, bleed or get knocked unconscious.

I really enjoy a movie that has a good story line, good execution, and good acting even if it does stretch reality quite a bit. This was way too far to the extreme. It was ridiculous. The director apparently liked working with the computer animators, because that's what 70% of this movie was. An exercise in making computer zombies look real.

After my wife and I watched this, we just looked at each other and said that was by far the worst movie we have seen in years. And we do watch our fair share of movies.

My honest opinion? Don't waste 2 hours of your life on this.

I absolutely loved the movie. I believe it is Will Smith's best role since "Ali" and shows that he has some serious acting talent, as he holds his own in the first 2/3rds of the movie as the only screen presence for the film (minus flashbacks) opposite only a dog as his only companion and friend.

I thought it was phenomenally shot, and genuinely the scariest movie I've ever seen in my adult life. Nothing I'd seen until then was genuinely frightening (and not just a cheap teen horror thrill with a loud sound and/or violin shriek) when Sam (Neville's dog) rushes after a deer into a pitch dark area, with only a gun-mounted flashlight, and absolutely no music playing whatsoever.

Followed by another genuinely frightening scene, in which Fred (one of the mannequins Neville sets up outside a video store to talk to) has been moved (as part of a Darkseeker's trap), and nearly drives Neville insane, thinking Fred is perhaps a real person, and having to shoot him to be sure, only to spring the trap.

As great as the movie was, and as frightening as it was, and as heartbreaking as it was to see the fate of his family and his dog, I spend about 18 dollars for the special edition two-disc version.

And I spend double the price for the single disc for... maybe five minutes extra footage, tops?

Disc one is basically the same thing you'd get in the normal edition; movie plus four animated comics. Disc two gives you THE SAME MOVIE with maybe five minutes additional footage, such as some minor deleted scenes setting up the premise for the Darkseeker's evolution and intelligence, and the alternate ending, which while was a bit frightening and touching at once, was hardly groundbreaking and not at all controversial.

Spoiler Alert: The "alternate" version of the movie just has a butterfly reference (the Darkseeker girl's tattoo), a scene with Neville showing Anna and Ethan the trap the Darkseeker Alpha set for him, a scene with Ethan swimming in a fish pond while Anna asks about the Darkseeker's evolution, and the alternate ending, in which rather than sacrifice himself, Neville turns over the girl to the Darkseeker, who shows he can truly love, and the Darkseekers leave them be to escape, with a cure to the virus in hand.


So for used on Amazon you get the single disc version for.. 8 dollars or so. For used two-disc, you get for 14 (as of this date), and before that I paid 18 including shipping.


So as with the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix special edition, I got screwed; we all got screwed.


Worthless. Try again next time, Warner Brothers.

From start to finish this movie will keep you guessing. Others have said that Will Smith provided a poor performance, but I disagree. I do not believe he has ever provided a poor performance and not in this movie for sure. The alternate ending is the ending I would have choose rather then the original ending, but then how could they sell the DVD. I highly recommend this movie for any collection.

Will Smith portrays the roll well, having seen both endings I would say stick with the original, not the alternative.
Gives you an insight into what it might be like being a survivor in a deserted city with just wild creatures. Staying sane would be hard!

Great 2nd remake of a classic 50's scifi.Though 1st remake was ok,just did not have the fullness of this newer version. Which has better action,better effects & a more plausible story line. Also liked the fact of having two possible endings, the 1st being more like 1st two movies, te other being a bit more smuchy & not to unsimular then the basically unknown "Damnation Alley". Still a good re-watch.

Much better than the Theater version!.... Action packed.... and very intense.... It is Will Smith... you have to love it!

I like the action and drama. Will Smith is at his best. I recommend this movie to all who enjoy this type of movie.

Excellent adaptation of a legendary book as well as the two previous versions of the movie...Last Man On Earth with Vincent Price and Omega Man with Charlton Heston. Eerily quiet with very little music. The CGI is not of the highest quality however it doesn't take long to not notice it and start believing what you are seeing.

The original theatrical release is an excellant, well acted, well filmed and suspenseful action/horror movie. Will Smith is able to hold almost an entire major motion picture together by himself. That is not a small feat.

While the movie strays far from the original novel of the same name, it is superior in many ways and brings the story up to a modern level(I belive the original novel was written in the 50's and set in the 70's).

The two disc set with the alternative ending and deleted scenes is worth the second watch. This alternative ending goes back to a theme that was present in the original novel that was missing in the theatrical release. The deleted scenes that are in the alternate ending video also answer some questions that could exist after watching the theatrical version (although using your imagination is important, the deleted scenes do not over explain the movie, so they do add value to the alternative ending). Overall, both versions are worth watching and are very entertaining.

Like everything about it! Will Smith is awesome...as usual.It is sort of follows christian beliefs. I think that even athiest's would enjoy the movie.

Will Smith is a geat actor, movie was great. Both endings were interested to me. The 2d ending left it open for I am legend II.

This movie looks like the older ones.(vincent price in the 50th's or so,and The omega Man 1974.)
I think the context is the same as the above movies with a little bit more technology .

the special edition is better, because you have 2 kind of ending, the theatrical
version is better.
