Def Leppard's Hysteria
Review created: 04/21/08

A classic from the 80's. From soft to hard rock, they play it all in this album. I bought this album because I lost the cassette tape I had back in high school...

This CD is an old CD, but it does bring back old memories. Memories that are good though, which is good. I have the album but not a CD of this. So that is the reason why I decided to buy this CD. So I can listen to again anytime I want to.

I listen to the first 6 songs over and over, where as the other 6 songs just off and on. But this release had a lot of the BIG HITS on. Pour some surgar on me one of the best.

Also, most people don't relize that in the middle of recording this song, their Drummer lost his arm and had to learn how to drum all over again. They had to jump a hurdle and did so. And now he is one of the best drummers with a different style.

 classic metal
Review created: 02/07/08

I am one of the last people that would be expected to like Def Leppard's brand of heavy metal music. This album, released over 20 years ago when I was an old man of 30, provided me back then with a tolerable initiation to this genre of music. I have no idea what the expert critics say about it, but for my money it's one of the better albums from the 80's. Unlike a number of other metal bands, Def Leppard produced a sound that came across as coherent and well designed. The band doesn't simply produce as much and as loud a sound as it can. There are actual melodies on this album, and many memorable ones at that. "Love Bites" and "Pour Some Sugar On Me" are the two tunes that brought me to the group, but the rest of the album is strong as well. Of course there are powerful guitar riffs, pounding percussion, and "expressive" vocals one expects from this musical style, but what I find unique about this group is the quality of the backing vocals and how they accentuate each and every song. "Hysteria" is the perfect album for those times when you need to release pent-up energy!

 Hysteria- Def Leppard (CD 1987)
Review created: 06/12/06

I loved this CD the first time that I heard it. I immediately went out at the time and bought the tape. Lately, I've been trying to get some of my favorite music on CD and have started looking on Ebay for these titles. Motley Crue is one of my favorite bands. I have the tape and love it so I started looking for the CD. The CD is in great condition and plays great. This is a great way to add to my CD collection, by finding them on ebay.

 Hysteria caused Hysteria

Hysteria was the first album made after Rick Allen's tragic car accident in which he lost one of his arms. This was the followup album to Pyromania. Hysteria produced 7 hit singles and sold over 17 million copies. There songs such as Love Bites, Pour Some Sugar on Me, Rocket and others can still be heard of the radio today and has endured the test of time almost 20 years later. A must have album for any 80's rock lover. It's one of my favorites in my collection.

Still as Relevant as The Day it was Released
Review created: 05/22/05
by: vemartin -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Well produced and polished; infectious beats; great guitar riffs; timeless material.

Cons:
A few songs went off-track.

I like to think of myself a connoisseur of all types of music; as long as it is good I will listen and appreciate. Of course I get to be the judge of what is good and what isn t; and for me most (hard) rock-n-roll doesn t sound good to me. So it was a surprise when one day while watching MTV (a rare occasion), sometime in the latter part of the last century that a video (Pour Some Sugar on Me) by the now legendary rock group Def Leppard came on and I liked the song. It had driving bass and guitar riffs and seriously infectious drum beats; never mind the lyrics, which I had a hard time...

 Def Leppard's Hysteria - Talk about a one-two punch.
Review created: 11/26/01
by: jag2112 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Picks up right where Pyromania left off. Great songs, great energy.

Cons:
Insignificant ones...

Consistency. So many rock bands today (and yesterday) try to achieve consistency while expanding on their artistic abilities. Typically, the results are lack luster at best, or a change in direction that never quite gathers the attention of earlier works. But if there is one thing that can be said of Def Leppard during their reign in the 80's, it's consistency. It started with their 1981 release of High 'n' Dry with some hard rocking tunes that introduced a world to this mega-star from the United Kingdom. But nothing could prepare them or us for the incredible success behind their 1983...

Armageddoning the world of pop music 80s style
Review created: 09/25/03
by: foxy_shy -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Def Leppard s best album, and one of the late 80s best albums

Cons:
Lead guitar kicked the bucket shortly after the band hit it big

Well, speaking of music, I might not be a legitimate 80s child though born in 1982 I only really started listening to music in the end of the 90s but those of you who have seen some of my reviews probably know I love that decade. For that there is a handful of reasons. But this review is not about the 80s. Since you are here and (hopefully) reading, I would like to share with you one of my favorite bands, of which I only like one album. This album. Boys and girls, please welcome: Def Leppard. 1987. The legend. HYSTERIA . Def Leppard in the prime of their glory were: Wing Commander Steve...

One Of The Best Albums Ever Put Out By Anyone!
Review created: 03/06/01
by: Pandemonium -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Great lyrics, beats, presentation, never hitting the seek button, and list goes on and on!

Cons:
None!

Only 8 years old when Def Leppard came onto the scene, having a brother 6 years older, I still can remember him blasting this album over and over again in his bedroom. In my Epinion, there will never be a better age for music than the 70's early 80's. With Def Leppard, Scorpion, AC DC, Metallica, Led Zepplin, REO Speed Wagon, Chicago, Pink Floyd, Aerosmith, and so many others just coming out or still relatively new, I must say I was lucky enough to be able to grow up with all this great music. It is this Album that will always stick out in my head the most. It is really hard to find an album.

So, who likes stereotypical eighties music? come on, ya know ya do!
Review created: 12/21/04
by: terminator_cat -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
entertaining and very cool guitar in places, perfect for its time.

Cons:
Cheesy, production is over the top, Pyromania is better, abandoned metal roots.

There are things a band really can t get away with these day s, they range from sounding like a distinctive band to having the style of a particular era which can only be acceptable if it is that era. More often than not people will say that the eighties were cr@p for music, which is a usually a load of bullsh!t. I can think of a many great albums that were released in the eighties ranging from AC/DC s Back In Black to U2 and the Joshua Tree all the way to Metallica and Master Of Puppets . These bands unlike a lot of stuff from the eighties have versatility as to how it is played though. On...
