this book was the perfect match for me. the novice engine builder. if you have worked on cars before, maybe changed a water pump, done tune ups, to replaced brakes. you can use this book and successfully rebuild an engine. one of the best parts is they wont tell you to buy expensive specialty tools if you can use an alternative method. the example pictures are nice and big but you have to flip forward a few pages to find them, but its still written there under the pictures. the only thing i found outdated was the updated umbrella type valve stem seals. this book was not really designed for a high performance engine build, just a normal engine rebuild for restoring or freshening up the motor.this book is for a budget minded person trying to achieve a little more power with a dependable running engine. if you need to rebuild the carburetor this book wont tell you, but dont worry they sell rebuild kits with detailed instructions all day long at any parts store. READ THE BOOK THOROUGHLY BEFORE YOU START ON THE ENGINE AND THEN USE IT WHILE YOU ARE REBUILDING. SOME OF THE TERMS AND PICTURES WILL NOT MAKE SENSE AT FIRST UNTIL YOU ACTUALLY SEE IT, BUT DONT WORRY. THIS WILL HELP YOU MAKE IMPORTANT DECISIONS ON HOW TO EVALUATE BAD PARTS AND SO ON.
