I was confused from the start with House of Cards. Kathleen Turner stars as the widowed parent Ruth Matthews to six year-old Sally and her older brother Michael. Let me get a couple of things out of the way right off the bat. I am not a big fan of Kathleen Turner s. Matter of fact the woman just plain scares me. I can remember way back when to a little film called Body Heat and even more recently, War of the Roses. *shiver* Not that either of these two films were bad, they weren t, the woman just creeps me out. House of Cards is a 1993 movie about a six year old girl who shows signs of autism after returning to the US from Central America. The girl's mother played by Kathleen Turner, is in denial about the diagnosis and resists therapy. Tommy Lee Jones is the psychiatrist who is trying to help the girl and her family. The acting in this film is superb, however the plot is a little off.
