After ER, Chicago Hope, and dozens of other medical dramas, how many really good stories could be left? Turns out, quite a few if done in the right way with an excellent cast. House M.D. breathes new life into the hospital drama by adding a dash of CSI type sleuthing with a stellar cast, led by Hugh Laurie as Dr. Gregory House and also starring Lisa Edelstein, Omar Epps, Jennifer Morrison, Jesse Spencer, and Robert Sean Leonard.

Dr. Gregory House is an incredibly unusual doctor. He dislikes patients, is partially crippled by a muscular disorder, pops Vicodin like they are tic-tacs, and is addicted to reruns of General Hospital. He would rather read a medical journal or hide out in the OB/GYN lounge than deal with a patient. His true purpose in life is leading a team of young doctors in diagnosing the usually rare and fatal maladies that baffle most doctors. Here House is part Sherlock Holmes and part Gil Grissom. He assembles the puzzle, often failing to get the pieces right, until finally the solution is arrived at. In the meantime he runs rampant across the hospital, badgering or simply bullying his way into getting what he needs to try and help the patient. His bedside manner is not pleasant, in fact House is a jerk because being a jerk is the fastest way to get patients healthy.

Season 2 started off a bit slow overall as a subplot about House and his ex-girlfriend Stacy (Sela Ward) takes up too much screen time, but once she departs the season picks up dramatically. There is quite a bit of character growth for the staff: Dr. Cameron (Jennifer Morrison) still holds a bit of a torch for House but moves on to other and more risky things, Dr. Chase (Jesse Spencer) has difficulty dealing with the death of his father and still doubts his own abilities at times, and Dr. Foreman (Omar Epps) discovers that he is willing to step on others to ensure his own success, and that sometimes tragedy strikes closest to home. Dr. Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein) and Dr. Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard) get some great screen time, becoming more three-dimensional and much more interesting, and we learn quite a deal more about House and the skeletons in his closet that make him tick.

The 2nd season set contains 24 episodes, with the best coming towards the end of the season, several featurettes, and at least one commentary according to the tvshowsondvd guys. Top episodes include Sex Kills, All In, Sleeping Dogs Lie, House vs God, and the brilliant two-parter Euphoria, which showcases some phenomenal acting by Epps, Morrison, and Laurie. The writing is particularly fresh, original, and inspired, and the cast seems to thrive on the energy. Some of the incredible guest stars include LL Cool J, Ron Livingston(Office Space), Alanna Ubach(Legally Blonde), Cynthia Nixon(SATC), Greg Grunberg(Alias), Samantha Mathis(Pump up the Volume), Michelle Trachtenberg(Buffy), Elias Koteas(Traffic), Charles S. Dutton(Threshold), Michelle Clunie(Queer as Folk), and D.B Sweeney(The Cutting Edge). Improving on a great rookie season is difficult, but House M.D. succeeds brilliantly. Pick up your copy today. Highly Recommended.

House is amazingly funny, in a rude, horribly obnoxious way. He is also able to diagnose and treat illness's that other doctors weren't able to. If you have never watched House, I strongly recommend that you watch just one episode, and you will be hooked and wanting to buy the whole first and second season collections. Through all the rudeness, cockiness, and ridiculousness of House and his staff, they always stay on track and properly diagnose the patient, and it is so surprising when they get it all figured out and save the patient, you will be literally hanging on your seat wanting to know more. Love this show.

House onto Season 2 continues its great drama. I would definitely recommend anyone to watch it. Start from Season 1 and then you'll understand the underlying character relations and tensions.

I love House. I think that it's a very creative show compared to everything else on the telly these days. Season two is beyond words. The further you go through the series, the mosre twisted and complex everything becomes. A must have on DVD for any House fan!!

House Season 2 is a great continuation of season 1. Season 2 dives deeper into the personal lives of the characters and displays even more character emotion than season 1. If you like season 1, I highly recommend season 2!! (I also recommend watching them in order because the story builds from previous episodes.)

  HOUSE: SEASON TWO (2006, DVD)

THIS IS WITHOUT A DOUBT THE BEST SHOW ON TELEVISION. IT DEPICTS THE WAY PEOPLE REALLY ARE AND DOESN'T SUGAR COAT WHAT HAPPENS IN THE REAL WORLD OF LIFE AND DEATH. I CAN IDENTIFY WITH HOUSE, BECAUSE I SEE THE REALITY OF THE WORLD IN MANY OF THE SAME WAYS. MY CO-WORKERS HAVE OFTEN REFERED TO ME AS A PAIN IN THE BUTT. I LOVE THE SARCASIM HOUSE USES AND YET HE REALLY ENVYS HIS CO-WORKERS AND THEIR LIVES AWAY FROM WORK. THESE ARE FEW OF THE REASONS I DECIDED TO PURCHASE THE DVD SET AND WILL BE PURCHASING MORE SETS IN THE FUTURE.

I love it. It works just fine doesn't skip or anything. I am a big fan of the series and that was the one that I was missing. I needed it to go with the set. The seller is a really nice person and very honest. I was told that there were a few scratches on it and was afraid that it would skip and it didn't. I really love the product.

Two great episodes in the second season of House
Review created: 04/24/08
by:

Here is a write-up of the two shows I was able to catch on House (2nd Season). They were awesome! I'm sure the others are too! Check it out today!

Series: House (2004)
Episode: "Humpty Dumpty” (Season 2, Episode 3)
Original Air Date: September 27, 2006

Alfredo, a long-time handyman for Dr. Lisa Cuddy’s (the boss of House), complains that his asthma is acting up and has asked for a leave. Cuddy may have then felt that Alfredo’s complaints were not that serious and requests him to finish a the work he was doing on the roof of her home. Not long after, Alfredo feels faint—loses consciousness—and falls off the roof onto the ground below.

Following the basic tenets of the show—a systematic process of elimination is done on the patient (in this case, Alfredo) based on the presenting symptoms until a viable course of action is found that would eventually lead to recover.

However, mitigating circumstances are not properly addressed (likely due to Cuddy’s working relationship with Alfredo—wherein she couldn’t look at her patient objectively) and the end result led to further degradation of Alfredo’s condition wherein several of his fingers on his left hand were amputated after severe discoloration was found. Alfredo’s troubles didn’t end there as not long after, he was sent into neurosurgery as a result of a misdiagnosis. Other symptoms arose (e.g., lung problems, possible kidney failure, absence of urination, etc.) and the staff had little choice but to amputate the entire hand as leaving the rotting limb may affect his other organs.

Sounds depressing right?

It didn’t stop there. Eventually, Alfredo showed similar symptoms on his right hand.

House takes a risk and prescribes medication for psittacosis (if House is wrong, Alfredo will lose his remaining limbs as well) after a confrontation with Alfredo’s mother regarding the whereabouts of her son when he is not working for Dr. Cuddy. This eventually leads to House deducing that Alfredo is involved in cockfighting—the birds likely bringing about Alfredo’s psittacosis.

After Cuddy’s ocular of the cockfighting in the warehouse district, she returns to give Alfredo the diagnosis. “It is then implied that he and his family are suing the hospital for the loss of his hand.”

Series: House (2004)
Episode: "Clueless” (Season 2, Episode 15)
Original Air Date: March 28, 2006

A couple’s physical role-play is prematurely halted following the husband difficulty in breathing—to the point that he turned blue as his wife called 911.

House evaluates the presenting symptoms and comes to the conclusion that the husband is suffering from heavy metal poisoning. However, as none of the tests taken by the husband could support House’s theory, his underlings move for lupus diagnosis and its subsequent treatments—which didn’t improve the husband’s condition.

House observes the husband is getting progressively worse and less stable despite being treated in the Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. The husband then suffers multiple respiratory attacks and failure.

House looks elsewhere and searches for other anomalies—the wife!

House confronts the wife but his search comes up empty until an unrelated case made him consider gold sodium thiomalate poisoning.

The show ends with the wife being led away by police officers while other male members of the team are working towards giving the husband the “bad news.”

House believed that no one is happy in a marriage.

In this case, he was right...

After watching the first season I had to purchase season two. House and his three sidekicks are the perfect combination of intelect and sarcasim. You always wonder what House is going to do next. Or not do for that matter. Try to sit down and watch just one episode. You can't do it! Once you start, you just can't stop.

  nice dvd
Review created: 04/13/08

House is a brilliant show medically speaking but so much more than that at the same time. The show is a kind of "24" meets medicine extravaganza. The main character, Dr. Gregory House, is played beautifully by Hugh Laurie. Dr. House is a bitter but brilliant doctor who is crippled in one leg due to the inability of doctors to properly diagnose his problem in time. This makes him a decidedly bitter person when dealing with others yet he is one of the best doctors in his field of diagnostic medicine. He is being forced to serve his clinic hours that he had avoided for a number of years, and this is where the show takes place; in a walk in clinic. Each show is a mysterious new case that puts the patient's life on the line as time runs out. I am disheartened by all of the bad comments people are making about this show, but everyone I have seen this show with and everyone I have shown the show to love it and find it enormously entertaining, funny, and brilliant.

House Season Two Don't Miss It!!
Review created: 03/14/08

I love the tv show so much that I decided to start collecting the seasons. Unfortunately I feel that USA Network does not show it enough, like the law and orders. So now when I want to watch it I can just pop it into my DVD player and have my House fix. I love all the complicated cases that he deals with and how he figures out what the patients have. Hugh Laurie is an awesome actor!!!

I was able to get it for a little less than the Target store price and I was happy about that. And it is sealed and new so I decided to buy it. I love this medical drama series. I love learning about medical diagnosis and epidemiology and the characters in the TV series are interesting too. I am able to rule out and diagnose with the show doctors. I am not an MD but a DVM and I have fun watching.
