High School Musical (2006, DVD)

High School Musical is one of the best movies that has been produced in the past several years!! It is fun and energetic, making you want to sing and dance along. It is a clean, wholesome movie that is acceptable for people of any age to enjoy. My 8 year old loves this show and has all the words to the songs memorized and loves to act out the different scenes. He couldn’t wait for it to come out on DVD and the day it was released I bought a copy. The DVD hasn’t had much rest since that day! :o)
The storyline is wonderful as it shows just how selfish people can be and the pressures that teenagers face. For those of you who haven’t had the pleasure of seeing this show here is a short synopsis: Troy (Zac Efron), the popular captain of the basketball team, and Gabriella (Vanessa Ann Hudgens), the brainy and beautiful member of the academic club, break all the rules of East High society when they secretly audition for the leads in the school’s upcoming musical. Eventually, their friends find out and aren‘t happy about it. Troy’s friends are afraid he will lose his concentration and cause his teammates to lose the upcoming basketball sectional. Gabriella’s friends are afraid she will lose her concentration and cause them to lose the upcoming competition they are wanting to win. So, they do everything they can to keep Troy and Gabriella from getting the parts they auditioned for. As they reach for the stars and follow their dreams, everyone learns about acceptance, teamwork and being yourself.
Newcomers Zac Efron (Troy), Vanessa Ann Hudgens (Gabriella) and Lucas Gabreel (Ryan Evans) are brilliant young actors. They harmonize well together in both the singing and dancing scenes. Ashley Tisdale is wonderful as the snobby, self-centered Sharpay Evans. She is also a great singer and dancer.
In all I give this movie a two-thumbs up, a rating of a perfect 10 and I highly recommend it to everyone!!

I bought this for a Christmas present for one of my Grandsons. He asked for 1 & 2 and this was such a great price with a very fair shipping amount. Now my youngest daughter said she wants the set for Christmas also so I found another one at a great price.

With all the hype surrounding this film, I steered clear for a long time, thinking it must be overrated. I was wrong. When I finally gave it a chance, I discovered myself charmed by the sweet story, catchy music and winning ensemble cast. This is a true movie musical and it is done well. Kids will enjoy the singalong version and parents will like the fact that it depicts high schoolers in a positive, wholesome light without minimizing the underlying social message of tolerance of differences and being yourself. The talented, young cast are all likable (even the snobby Sharpei and Ryan) while the leads have real on-screen chemistry. All in all, HSM is an enjoyable family film that will appeal to different age groups in different ways.

I bought this dvd as a christmas gift for my daughter (so it's put up for now). I haven't seen the movie, but she has & loves High School Musical! I like that I paid less than retail for it :)

I do stage musicals frequently and am always interested in what's on and off Broadway.
This show has a good storyline....young love, team spirit. Good show overall, but there was one disappointing factor. The vocal tracks were lost behind the audio tracks. Vocals could barely be heard.

The DVD was in great used condition! Buyer descried it perfectly! My kids love the movie, I think we have watched 3 times already!!

Our family loves these movies.We really enjoy all the singing and dancing.The kids in this movie are so talented and they really inspire my 4 grand-daughters.They started to take more of an interest in music and dancing.I, myself enjoy watching it and we all cant wait to see High School Musical 3.We are very pleased with the purchases of both movies.

The only reason I bought this dvd was for a gift for my sweet little niece. She loves the music, and the kids on it. I bought it as a part of her birthday present. She absolutely loves it. Thank you!

This movie is great for girls age 3 and up and boys also like it. This is a very popular movie all over the world. Everyone I know loves this movie. It is great to add to any kids DVD collection. You can't go wrong buying this for your kids.

My kids are 5, 6 and 15 and they all love Disney movies in general, especially the High School Musical duo. I highly recommend this movie for all ages as Disney's brilliance is age appropriate and entertaining for the whole family.

What can I say. I's Disney and the kids from 2-12 LOVE it. The songs are catchy and the kids can even dance to the numbers, now with WII Karioki edition they really have a blast with it. The kids watch this dvd over and over again.

This is a great movie for kids. My kids love to sing and dance to it. There is no suggestive comments or language, so I love that it is safe. Both my son and daughter love it, so I don't have to worry about it being gender specific. Great movie!!!!

I really like that this movie gives my kids a clean view of what high schoolers are and should be. So many movies today give teenagers such a bad name because they portray them with almost zero morals or respect for adults. It's refreshing to see a movie with good, clean, musical fun. And of course, we all love the catchy music throughout the movie, especially the unique dynamics of Getcha' Head In The Game.

I've seen the hit movie over 25 times and it never gets old. Its pretty much about a basketball player who is the most popular guy in school who meets a girl who somewhat persuades him to participate in a musical.

The vibe that I have seen is either you love it or you hate it! The majority of kids love it, judging by the ratings it recieved! The first movie broke records with over 7,000,000 viewers which was nothing compared to the release of the sequal which nearly doubled in August of '07.

There is now everything that you can imagine that is somewhat related to the movie like tours, clothing, electronics, and now the word is out about an HSM 3 that will be in theaters. Although it has nothing to do with actual High School, its a great movie for kids and family. I would rate it 9/10!

i think this is an excelent product (movie) for children.

My 4-1/2 year old granddaughter first saw this movie at her Pre-School and all the kids loved it! They love the music & dancing! I imagine older children will follow the story line and learn an important lesson from the movie. So, it's a win-win for children. The version I have has subtitles, which was wonderful for learning the words to the songs. I hope we enjoy H.S. Musical 2 as much as we did the original. I was fairly burned-out on animated movies, so a movie Izabella loved, with real people, was a great relief!
