Excellent movie--comedy, drama, and scenery. So unlike many movies today, with almost no vulgar language or adult situations. Can we not be entertained nowadays without filth???

I bought this for a friend in Seattle. She was very pleased with the quality and ship time. It is an old film that she had previously seen and loved.

  Movie-High Road to China
Review created: 08/10/06

I have long wanted this movie because of the premise, scenery, and music. The buying experience on Ebay was also excellent. I have no negative feed back for this item. This movie is out of print and will probably never be released on a DVD.

This movie is by far the best movie that Tom Selleck has ever starred in. I am
an ardent fan of his movies & Magnum PI series as well. I thought this movie
was excellent in all areas. The scenery was exquisite, the acting was excellent
and the story line was great. The chemistry between Tom & Bess Armstrong was
very convincing & they both did an excellent job! This movie has always been
a favorite of mine & I know anyone who watches it will love it too! I only wish that Hollywood would release this film on DVD so that this treasure could
be preserved longer.

  Greatest Selleck Movie

Outstanding movie, and one of Tom Selleck's best. The movie has a great story line and does a fabulous job in combining action with romance. High Road to China has just the right amount of action and romance to make it a truly great movie for the guys, while keeping the female viewer happy. The movie has superb flying scenes and great photography. This is a truly great movie for all audiences. Bess Armstrong is equally fabulous in her role, so much so that it makes one wonder why she gave up films for the theater. Watch it, you will not be disappointed.

High Road to China: Strictly for Tom Selleck fans
Review created: 05/03/02

Pros:
The sets, the flying sequences, the little details.

Cons:
Don't look for any deep meaning here, it's pure popcorn.

Take one high-flying heiress, Evie Tozer (Bess Armstrong), add one boozy ex-ace, Patrick O'Malley (Tom Selleck), two vintage Sopwith Camels, and an extremely silly plot about a missing industrialist/inventor, and you get almost two hours of pure matinee fun. Cashing in on the Indiana Jones craze of the eighties, Hollywood gave us a very weak plot involving the heiress trying to find her father, the missing inventor who has to get back to England before he's declared dead, or his greedy, rather icky partner gets the entire boodle -- including the heiress's money, which will leave her very poor.

Pros:
Bess Armstrong; great scenery; enough action to keep one interested

Cons:
Not on DVD yet; thin plot; wooden acting

You know, the DVD industry is truly odd. It seems that almost every trash movie from the past century has been released on DVD, so it's quite a surprise when you find a recent one that can only be obtained on video tape. Oddly enough, High Road to China is one of those films that hasn't made it to DVD, and that's a shame. This is actually a pretty good flick starring Tom Selleck, an actor who isn't exactly unknown. Granted, there isn't anything complex about this movie. It's just pure fun, but there are times when that's more than good enough. The movie is set in the 1920s and centers around..

High Road To China: A romantic top 10
Review created: 05/29/00

Pros:
Great music by John Barry

Cons:
The movie is hard to find in stores for sale.

High Road to China: 1983 This is an action/adventure movie set in the 1920s. This is one of my top 10 romantic movies of all time. I have and will continue to watch High Road to China over and over again. How can you go wrong with Tom Selleck, Bess Armstrong, Wilford Brimley, Robert Morley, guns, airplanes, romance and the wonderful composer John Barry? You can t. Tom is my definition of today s John Wayne and Ms Armstrong, well, what can I say, I fall in love with her again and again every time I see this movie. The combination of Tom and Bess fussing, fighting and eventually falling in love.

  Selleck Compensates For Refusing "Raiders"...
Review created: 07/18/00
by: SusanGranger -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Tom Selleck as a high-flying hero

Cons:
It's really a B-movie which is why it was quickly forgotten.

Why has Tom Selleck never scored as a big-screen movie star? It's a question many pundits have pondered. Even with a scruffy beard and a snarling personality, he sure looks like the old-fashioned kind of screen hero. In this adventure story set in 1920, he plays a high-flying pilot hired by socialite Bess Armstrong to take her from Istanbul to Afghanistan to Nepal and then to China in search of her father. En route, they fight off assassins, Mongol hoards and the wicked Suleiman Khan, flying bi-planes with the skill of Amelia Earhart and the Red Baron. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Apparently,...
