Pros:
Captures Leone's take on the West quite successfully to a certain degree, classic Eastwood character.
Cons:
Extremely dark, morbid. Too much of an emphasis on the word anti-hero.
High Plains Drifter was a very dark, morbid western directed by Clint Eastwood, who also starred in it. Much unlike his work with Sergio Leone in such late western epics as Fistfull of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, this movie has absolutely no rays of light shining through the overall dark, depressing feel of the film whatsoever, and absolutely no sign of comic relief unlike Leone's work with Eastwood. However, having said that it is an absolutely fantastic film nonetheless. Eastwood plays an unnamed drifter who (once again) we know absolutely nothing...
