My son had been telling me about this game, and what it was capable of, interactivity via VRU. Well I'm no game guru, so I conducted a bit of research before I bought, and sure enough you can talk to the little yellow fellow giving him direction on what to do next! I was amazed!
The game is great fun and interesting to boot.

  PIKACHU GAME
Review created: 05/08/08

THE GAME CAME INCOMPLETE. IT IS SUPPOSED TO COME WITH A MICROPHONE, BUT IT DIDN'T. I HAD TO MAKE A DISPUTE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. IT HAS BEEN 5 WEEKS, AND I AM STILL AWAITING PAYPAL/E-BAY TO DESIDE IF I DESERVE THE COMPLETE GAME. I HAVE DESIDED THAT I WILL ONLY USE E-BAY IF I NEED AN ITEM THAT CAN NOT COME FROM A STORE. OBVIOUSLY, I AM AT THE MERCY OF THE SELLER. I THOUGHT E-BAY/PAY PAL BACKED ME UP, BUT I GUESS NOT.

Great game for kids, My 7 year old niece loves it.
If they like pokemon and you do not have a newer system this is a good choice, just make sure you get a copy with a microphone.

This is a fun game for your pokemon loving kids. I decided to buy it for my son who loves pokemon and video games. All combined into one. It is fun for the kids because with this game it comes with a microphone so that the player can talk and control pikachu. It lets the player feel more in control of the game. I highly recommend this game. My son loves it and plays it all the time.

  Fun Unique Pokemon Game

This is a different Pokemon game utilizing a microphone that allows you to speak to Pikachu in order to perform different actions with him. My favorite part is fishing with Pikachu and trying to catch bigger and bigger water Pokemon. This game is appropriate for kids of all ages.

Fun for KIDS of all ages; there's nothing else like it!

In this game, you meet a Pikachu in the forest, and Professor Oak instructs you how to get to know it! Using the microphone accessory, you can TALK to Pikachu, get to know it, and eventually have him live in your house as a pet! As you progress through the game, you will learn more about Pikachu (and HIM about YOU) and unlock more activities that you and Pikachu can play! My younger sisters and I still love this one - there's nothing else like it!

Don't Buy This For The Holidays!
Review created: 12/01/00
by: GravityGirl -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
fairly interesting concept

Cons:
very very expensive, your kid will want it

If you have a Pokemon loving child and an N64, you might be thinking that Hey You Pikachu might be a great game to buy for a holiday gift. You might even be thinking about buying an N64 specifically so your child can play Hey You Pikachu. I have nothing against the game, but I am appalled by the $70 price. Graphics Now that I have a Dreamcast, I am not impressed by anything on the N64. Pikachu and the other Pokemon are recognizable, but everything for the most part is a little blurry. However, the target audience (ie kids) will probably not notice the poor graphics because they will be too...

Pros:
It may be cheap now.

Cons:
Even if it's cheap, it's not worth it.

HEY YOU PIKACHU (Nintendo/Game Freak, December 10, 2000) Nintendo was resting on a huge gold mine after those original twin Pokemon games on the old Black and White Gameboy made a gigantic splash in the North American market in the late 90's. Nintendo even scored big with their innovative but very limited franchise game called Pokemon Snap plus who could forget the two Pokemon Stadium games as well, all for the Nintendo 64. It was clear if Nintendo was going release any game for their N64 system that it would have to be something special. Here we have 'Hey You Pikachu', a game that is so...

Hey You, Pikachu: High on Price, Low on Fun
Review created: 11/28/00
by: Slusy -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Graphics and sound true to the cartoon, cute for a bit

Cons:
Horrid control, boring gameplay

I'm a Pokemon fasn, through and through. I was first in line to get Pokemon Stadium, as well as Pokemon Gold and Silver. However, when I saw Hey You, Pikachu was coming out, I decided I'd rent before I bought, given that it's $70.00 and comes with a microphone I'd be unlikely to use for any other game for N64. That was one of the smartest decisions of my life. To be fair, Hey You, Pikachu (HYP) is very much a kid's game. Regardless, even a kid's game needs to be pretty breathtaking to warrant a $70.00 price tag. HYP doesn't fit that description. Granted, kids could find it fun, but it's not ..

Hey You Pikachu...Don't You Do Anything...Hello?
Review created: 02/26/01
by: young1028 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Actually talk to Pikachu, great graphics and sound.

Cons:
Not much gameplay.

Last night, we rented Hey You Pikachu for my 4 year old son. They were asleep by the time we got home, and I just had to try out the new rental before they did. Call me immature, but I couldn't help it. The concept of the game got me, and though I don't know much about Pokemon games, this game didn't look too hard to manage. The game, Hey You Pikachu, came with a microphone that hooks into the 4th controller connection, and plastic piece that mounts a small microphone onto the controller. I had problems with the plastic piece staying on, and in the end I had my husband working the controller..

  Hey you, avoid Pikachu!
Review created: 12/08/00
by: ONLYTRUTH -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Nice graphics

Cons:
Slow, poor voice recognition, no structure

What ages is the game appropriate for? I feel that this game SHOULD only be intended for younger children between the ages of 4-7. It is supposed to be for children of all ages however I have had older children come play it that got bored with it very fast. What is Hey You, Pikachu!? Hey You, Pikachu! is an interactive Pikachu simulator. Speak to Pikachu via the included microphone, and the Voice Recognition Unit will allow him to understand SOME of what you're saying--up to 200 words. Also, Pikachu will respond to what you have to say. In addition to spending time with him, you'll need to...
