Perhaps that this calculator does not have all the functions you can find on some more powerfull and recent calculators belonging to the HP business calculator family (14B, 17B, 17BII, 19B and 19BII) but how to resist to the only remaining model belonging to the famous and elegant 'Voyager' serie? 10C, 11C, 15C and 16C are gone forever and it is very difficult today to find one in excellent condition. With the 12C, you will find all the elementary business functions you need.
You can find this model new in 3 different versions: - The standard version with gold metal display bezel, - the platinum edition, much faster, with platinum like metal keyboard and display bezel, - the 25th anniversary version (only available in 2006, hurry up!!!) which share the keyboard of the standard version and the platinum like metal display bezel of the platinum version with a 25th anniversary logo.
You can also find this model used: - A recent one, - One from the 80's: It is becoming a collector, try to find an USA made model.
Great product, bought my first HP-12C twenty five years ago and it still works perfectly. Performs all the necessary discounting functions that I need.
Fast shipping. Got exactly what I ordered for a great price! Even better than I expected. Would love to do business with this seller again. Excellent Seller A+++
I have had this calculator for over 20 years. It is the most useful device in everyday financial dealings. Once you get used to the reverse operations it's a breeze. Also, it's very sturdy.
I bought it because I can use it for the Certified Financial Planner exam; there are several other national certification exams that it can be used for, and of course it is also acceptable in certain college and graduate school business related courses. It is an excellent calculator. I worked my last one to death (but that was over 15 years ago, and I tend to drop it regularly). Buyers should be aware that there are several different models out now and ebay sellers are not always careful with their listings. The different models are NOT all the same. There are the vintage calculators, there are newer models of the vintage one, and then there are a Anniversary Edition, a 25th Anniversary Edition and the Platinum edition. Some of the newer ones have more functions and use a faster chip than others. They sell for more at retail. Research which ne you want before you buy, and don't assume that the picture in the listing is the model you are buying unless the seller has included an actual photo. There are a lot of folks out there using a stock image of a newer faster calculator to sell the older ones and I have found that some of the sellers don't know the difference. Overall, the HP12c is a great piece of equipment, and I learned to love RPN while using my old one. I still have to stop and think when using a regular calculator, because I retrained my brain to rpn. For those of yu who don't know what RPN is, it stands for Reverse Polish Notation, and it works more like an adding machine than a calculator. You can do a search on RPN and you'll get lots of info.
There are a few things I like about the HP12c: (1) It does the calculations with the reverse Polish notation and shows the answer every step of the way. The ordinary calculators would only give the final answer when press the equal sign. (2) HP calculators have the best keys which give a positive click. (3) You are allowed to bring the HP 12c to take your real estate license or appraisal license exams. (4) It is not hard to learn to use it. (5) It is the best financial calculator for 2 decades and the retail price holds up very well. You can spend more to get the newer Platimum model but you may never need those newly added functions.
good ebayer, item was in great condition, would be pleasure to deal business again. This calculator (it comes with a detailed user's guide) definitely requires some study to use it for the purposes for which it was made -- which are many. If my understanding is correct, it's the main one (or one of the few main ones?) "the big boys" in financial/banking/investment/etc. worlds use. I rated it "good" rather than "excellent" because of how complicated learning how to use it seems to be; however, I can understand why many people -- who have gone through the learning period and are happily using it -- would rate it "excellent". I bought it because it was recommended to me by a person doing a real estate financial business I'm considering doing; I'm writing this review before having really used it. Regarding the "manufacturer", Hewlett Packard (these global days, who knows who REALLY is the actual manufacturer!) -- I've gotten really excellent customer service from them regarding a problem with another of their products I had in the past, which is a good sign, and, I'm using a very inexpensive HP printer these days, which works real well; another good sign re Hewlett Packard.
I Love this calculator because it has Reverse Polish notation. For me it is much easier to use than a typical calculator. It has all the functions that I want/need, and is just the right size...not to big, and not too small.
Classic calculator for financials. Bought it for use in a class. Recommended by various classmates and ebay had a good auction on it. Seller was great so the transaction went smoothly.
I studied at the Wharton School in 1987-89 and graduated in Finance with my first excellent tool i.e. HP12c gold. I just learn that HP12c introduce the new platinum 25th anniversary when I start to seek for the second one for my new office. Compare to the first gold, the second is also very superb in every function. I am very impress. However, the buttons of f and g in orange and blue are look cheap material comparing to the original. But I still must have it.
I have been using HP products for twenty-six years for both personal use and as an aid when teaching. The addition of this HP model has filled a void that has existed far too long. I am very pleased.
This is the Gold Standard of Financial Calculators in the mortgage business. It is my third one...I guess other people like it too because if you leave it around, it might disappear. Once you understand how it works, it becomes second nature. You can amortize, compute future values, depreciate, compound interest or figure out the day of the week someone was born.
Be prepared to practice using it as it does not work like a regular calculator. Again, once you practice with it, it becomes second nature.
These are great calculators. My Dad has used one for decades! Never had a problem with it! Just bought another one because he misplaced his other one and couldn't be without it! Sturdy and a real workhorse--decades of heavy daily use without a problem.
Extremely happy and pleased with this calculator. You can bid with confidence with this seller, and get a great product and great service. Thanks again, Margaret
The product was sent in a very timely manner and was in great condition. Everything was exactly as advertised. I really appreciate your honest advertisement. I would definitely buy from this seller again.
Just what I wanted to replace my old and worn out calculator. Much less than dept. store price. I save approximately 40.00, shipping took a little longer than expected. Thank you, Anita
