one of the movies of my youth, when cgi wasn't as overused and dialogue was key, great funny movie, with clint giving a convincing performance as gunny highway, great scenes and one liners, on par with commando's, another 80s movie not as critically acclaimed but showing the timing these actors possessed at the top of their games, something sorely lacking in today's versions....

Heartbreak Ridge is loosely based on actual events; although in real life, Recon Marines were not involved. The story goes the U.S.Army would not sign off on it due to the script's poetic license in straying far from some truths. I can respect that. This is still a pretty decent film. The interaction between Clint Eastwood and Mario Van Peebles is priceless. I had one of those once; but he had no musical talent, just lived to aggrevate his sergeant.

Disregard the fact that director and writer present the Marines as if they had never been through basic training, that if you bunch up in combat you're dead, that a 40 mike mike can ruin anyone's day, and that the Congressional Medal of Honor deserves a salute from all military personnel.

Clint Eastwood is a well seasoned gunnery sergeant having served during the Korean Conflict in the Army and three tours in Vietnam as a Marine. He's as salty as they come and as a good sergeant, he turns a group of brats into Marines. He also has issues concerning an ex wife to work through. There are several light moments and a couple classic lines. Barracks talk is at a minimum. I had this on VHS and had to have it on DVD, so it has been watched more than a couple times.

If you like Clint Eastwood, you should like this film. If not for the writers' too vivid imagination in spots and breaks from the reality of combat, it would have earned an "excellent" rating from me.

Can relate to movie....Alot of topics in the movie are what a marine goes through day in day out..Good and bad..OOOrah...

This is an old war movie with Clint Eastwood. It is impossible to find in stores. My husband had the movie until someone borrowed it, and didn't return it. I was able to surprise him by finding it on ebay.

Classic Eastwood at his best. The movie shows what happens when guide lines are relaxed. In this case a group of Marines forgot the basics, EastWood is the new Gunnie in charge. Movie also has romance and fireworks.

Very good movie. The journey from resentment to respect is awesome. This is a must see for Clint Eastwood fans.

I was a little disappointed the movie didn't arrive in time for Christmas..but it did arrive a fews days. The movie was one my husband wanted for his collection...he very surprised and very please. We've watched it several times since it arrived..or I should say he has watched it several times. It's a great movie and I know he will continue to enjoy it for a long time. I think was pretty good Clint Eastwood movie.I have seen better from him though.It wasn't one of my favorite war type movies.I think they could have a-lot better with the Love scenes & a lot better with the comedy scenes.Overall it was a pretty good movie thouh.Just not great!

My husband wanted this movie for his collection. My friend had recommended this movie to me because we both are Eastwood fans. I have many of his films, but when I recieved this one, I found it to be one of the best. I love the fact that Clint is still the hardened and quick-witted character in Heartbreak Ridge. His attitude says that he won't take any "bull" from anyone, even his commanding officers. I cannot compare Heartbreak Ridge with any of the others that he has done. The fact that this movie was so greatly done, and produced by Clint Eastwood, is enough to put it on the top of my list. I was happy to have won this used DVD! I searched a lot of places for it and knew I'd find it on ebay. I bought it for my son-in-law for Christmas because it is his favorite movie. I got it for a really, really good price and it arrived safe and sound in a very timely manner. Since I bought it used and got it for such a good price (and it's still exactly what he wanted), I was able to buy him more for Christmas.
