Pros:
Easygoing, well-performed soul music, straight up.
Cons:
This is (so far) Mr. DeBarge's most recent album-and it's 11 years old.
Smoothness is an art form in and of itself. You have to talk the talk and walk the walk. No one is going to take a Barry White voice cooing sweet nothings if you look like Steve Urkel. Even thought Barry was a big dude, his hair and clothes were always tight. You could picture the man as a master aural seducer, and he was. Not many singers personify "smooth" the way Eldra DeBarge does. Since his debut at the dawn of the 80s with his family band, El has possessed one of the butter-creamiest voices in the world of music. Although his group hit pay dirt with the cheesy relic "Rhythm Of The Night.
