  El's finest CD yet!!!
Review created: 04/23/08

Although it's been nearly 14 years since this album was released, the songs still sound superb on every level. I find this to be El DeBarge's greatest solo accomplishment outside of his famed group DeBarge. Here you can sense the vast amount of creativity that was put into this album which makes it an instant classic that you can listen to over and over again for years to come. Today, music as we know it has become more of a game than an expressive, creative, and effective art form. Every song sounds just about the same and there are hardly any emotional responses that the listener can relate to on a very intimate level. However, El signifies a person with a very unique and captivating sound that touches the listener with his sweet yet seductive voice that charms the ears. He is not only a vocally gifted singer, but a phenomenal songwriter, producer, arranger, and musician(keyboards preferably). This album shows just how much talent he has and if I may say, it has "Heart, Mind & Soul".

Eloquently Crafted!!!

Brilliant!!!

  Great 90s CD!

This CD represents El DeBarge at his finest..out on his own from the group Debarge and no longer w/ the Gordy/Motown label, he shows how much freedom and creativity he has on this CD, from the song, "Can't Get Enough", and, "Where Is My Love", both he and producer Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds show there stuff, along w/ help from producer Jermaine Dupri, a newcomer back then.

El DeBarge Hits You With Some Mackadocious Words On "Heart, Mind & Soul"
Review created: 08/18/05

Pros:
Easygoing, well-performed soul music, straight up.

Cons:
This is (so far) Mr. DeBarge's most recent album-and it's 11 years old.

Smoothness is an art form in and of itself. You have to talk the talk and walk the walk. No one is going to take a Barry White voice cooing sweet nothings if you look like Steve Urkel. Even thought Barry was a big dude, his hair and clothes were always tight. You could picture the man as a master aural seducer, and he was. Not many singers personify "smooth" the way Eldra DeBarge does. Since his debut at the dawn of the 80s with his family band, El has possessed one of the butter-creamiest voices in the world of music. Although his group hit pay dirt with the cheesy relic "Rhythm Of The Night.
