We stumbled on this book while planning our first trip to Hawaii, and found it incredibly helpful. It describes all the sights to see, places to stay, and things to eat. It tells you what is great, what is good, and what to avoid. Most guidebooks skim over the details, but this book is different. It gives you all of your options and isn't afraid to say when something is a tourist trap. Everything is organized in terms of trips, complete with detailed maps and photographs to help you find those hidden gems. We checked out this book at the library when planning our trip to the big island. We thought it was so well laid out and written, we had to bring it along with us - everywhere. Now that we have returned, we still plan on buying a copy as the information was so useful.
