When you get past all of the chatter about the potential of Halo looking better on a PC, and all of the yip-yap about Halo being "just another" first person shooter, and all of the lip-flapping about Halo not being able to compete with the very best games on PS2 or GameCube and you actually sit down and play the game on your Xbox...you're in for one hell of a game.

The only thing people need to be concerned about when it comes to Halo is how soon they're going to get it and where they're going to find the time to play. With a story good enough for a full length novel, audio and visual elements as detailed as any you've ever seen and excellent pacing, Halo is the reason for Xbox and vice versa. Bungie has brought to the Xbox the game that will prove hundreds of thousands of naysayers wrong (about the system and thegame) and bring sweet relief and joy to those who've been biting their nails and pacing in circles waiting for Microsoft's machine to arrive. Hype is one thing; reality is another; Halo on Xbox is one of the best things to happen in videogames.

Features:

* Situational First and Third Person perspectives.
* Role-based, cooperative multiplayer team game
* Play story mode as a single player or cooperatively with another player.
* Choose from a variety of conventional human and powerful alien weaponry
* Vehicles include marine jeeps and tanks to alien flyers and hovercrafts.
* Squad based combat.
* Enjoy the action with 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound and Widescreen playback features.

The Story

Halo takes place in the far future where mankind is locked into a brutal war against a race of aliens known as the Covenant. These dudes are seriously evil. They wipe out entire planets at a time, and they are so fast at doing so that we poor humans are unable to get much information on them before they nuke us into oblivion.

The horde of aliens is getting closer and closer to Earth with the clock quickly ticking down before they completely annihilate our race. Finally the line is drawn. In a massive battle near a human planet, only one ship survives: Pillar of Autumn. The commander of the ship decides to lure the Covenant as far away from Earth as possible so she programs the ship's AI to jump to some random location in the opposite direction of the home system.

Eventually the ship arrives at a distant area or space where they find both a gas giant called Threshold and its small moon known as Basis. This wouldn't be so strange except for the fact that they find a giant ring construct floating between the two objects, which is about 10,000 miles in diameter. Unfortunately for the small ship, the entire Covenant battle fleet had followed them and arrived in the system shortly before.

When you boot up the game, you're knee deep in the middle of the Autumn being evacuated. That giant ring construct is Halo and the secret that it holds is the part of the story that will be up to you to discover.

Gameplay
Before we get into the nuts and bolts of how Halo plays, I'd like to share a few of the quotes blurted out in and around the IGN offices and other places as passers-by were enraptured by a glimpse of Bungie's first person superstar.

"Are those guys fighting with you?"

"Drive the Jeep! I wanna see the Jeep!"

"Damn, this feels like a movie!"

"I thought the fun part happened already."

"How come the enemies speak English?"

Lol it's pretty funny and entertaining.
Overall Rating- 10/10

Halo is an original first person shooter that made Microsoft's Xbox platform successful. If you are moderaltely interested in sci-fi story line, or just want to shoot something. Give this one a try.

There is nothing like this game, It has a great plot and even though there are new Halo games for 360, none of the new ones are like this one.

One of the best games for OS X
Review created: 02/24/07

Definatly one of the best games for Mac OS X. It has intense campaign levels and tons of online multiplayer. If you're sceptical about buying it, I suggest downloading the demo from the Apple website (www.apple.com), which includes the first campaign level and most of the multiplayer features. You can also create internet multiplayer games, or games on your LAN (Local Area Network) for when you're friends are over, that is, if your friends are smart enough to buy this game.

Halo: Combat Evolved - Coming to worthy PCs only!!!
Review created: 10/02/03

Pros:
Good FPS everything, vehicles, good multiplayer mode ;-)

Cons:
Lots of "been there done that", system requirements, progress saves only last checkpoint, AI

If media hype is right, then Halo: Combat Evolved is one of the most anticipated games for 2003. After all the success that made the XBox what it is, Halo comes to 'save' the PC. (Nevermind that this category should be actually under Computergames instead of Videogames as it is right now.) But before I get into the game let me post this little disclaimer: "This review is intended to inform the reader and uncover the truth. Possible side effects are disagreement, aggrevation, boredom or disbelieve. The author refuses to accept responsibility for either." Also I would like to point out that...

Pros:
New maps, weapons, vehicles and of course, the online play

Cons:
Um...kinda hi specs, 56kers

Halo you could call it the game that made the Xbox what it is today. It remained exclusive to Xbox due to a deal Bungie had with Microsoft. With all the money made from Halo, naturally Microsoft would want it on windows and mac to bring the Halo franchise to an even larger audience. I was a good idea to think that people who liked Halo PC would buy an Xbox for the second Halo considering it would never be coming out for Pc. Well, Im sure that worked out pretty well for them but now I shall tell you some about the craziness of the windows edition of my all time favorite game, Halo. Super Sci...

Pros:
under $20, interesting game universe

Cons:
outdated in every sense of the word and in every technical aspect

HALO - Combat Evolved (or just HALO for short), one of the industries most successful game franchises and one of the games with the most turbulent history is about to go into it's next stage of existence. While HALO 3 is about to debut on the XBOX 360, HALO 2 will make it's appearance on PC's armed with Windows Vista (and DirectX 10) in the near future. Time to take a refreshed look at HALO - Combat Evolved, the 3D shooter on the PC. making HALO, a journey throughout the systems Bungie Software, the company responsible for HALO, originally intended HALO to be a game for Apple Macintosh...

  Fight For Your Life!

Pros:
So much to do and great graphics. So much fun!

Cons:
Needs high-speed internet to play online without lagging.

My Experience Since I bought this game, it has been one of my favorites ever! My favorite part of this game is that you can play online with hundreds of people in hundreds of games and it's absolutely free. I've spent whole days playing this game because I was able to play with so many people online and with my friends. They got the game and we find eachother on the game and we can team up and fight on a team. It's so much fun for me and I really enjoyed playing this game. The only bad part for me is my internet "lags" and when I create a server other people are not able to join it. Price For.

It's fun and all, but it doesn't deserve the hype.

Pros:
MULTIPLAYER, some good shooting action, decent combat models some enemies are cool.

Cons:
Story sucks, weapons are very outdated and limited, some enemies too childish.

I am rating the PC game, and this is the only one I have played. We begin as I open the box, and start reading the manual....hmmm. Fairly interesting story, it's the year 2552 (Pretty far in the future by most peoples standards). First alien encounter, blah blah blah we're getting our asses kicked, etc. Slightly cliched, but straightforward, and in the end, it does the job. Then an interesting note about a 'cyborg super soldier' piques my interest. I think to myself "Wouldn't they have thought of this 300 years ago?", but ignore the thought. I'm anticipating some cool, original and...
