Graphics - 8/10
For what the game is, you are not buying this game to play for the graphics – though Activision was able to make the animations more vibrant, and a more noticeable experience.
Sound – 10/10
The track list for this game, along with the original recordings (including the reunited Sex Pistols!) is a must have. You will get lost in involvement when playing this game. This is one of the best soundtracks in a game to date.
Gameplay – 9/10
Though under new “ownership”, Activision has taken this game this game down a similar road, but with a new car. With slight improvements in the display hud, the notifications of streaks, and the “star power” activators easier to get, this game is fun. Plain and simple.
Replay Value - 10/10
It will hard not to play this game over and over. This is a worthy sequel.

There are a few new tweaks to the actual gameplay, and it feels a bit easier to play (except some of the very final songs), but this game follows the old saying “if it ain’t broke – don’t fix it”. The song list, along with the new guitar, is stellar. With all the original, or master, tracks that are in this game, it is hard not to enjoy this game if you are a fan of rhythm or music games.
The new wireless “Gibson” guitar is heavier, more durable, and the closest thing to a real guitar peripheral that I have felt. I must say that this is a nice controller, and I did not want to put it down. I applaud Activision’s attention to detail. I highly recommend this bundle.

I had heard about Guitar Hero, and being a musician and teacher, the concept sort of frightened me at first. I've seen all kinds of music "games" and learn to play this and that in thirty days, etc. Almost without exception, the game/program/video/toy is a complete joke, a waste of money, and usually not any fun.
My opinion started to change earlier this summer. My young nephews were visiting, and they brought along their Playstation 2. As I washed dishes in the kitchen, I heard Black Sabbath and Rush emanating from the living room. My curiosity piqued, I stepped into the living room to see my nephew sitting on the couch, plastic guitar in hand, jamming along to some of the greatest songs of my youth. Music I NEVER would have imagined him enjoying, let alone ever being exposed to.
I'm not advocating Guitar Hero as an educational game. Sure, it certainly can help to instill a better sense of rhythm, but playing the game is so unlike playing an actual guitar that any comparison is almost laughable. The greatest thing about Guitar Hero, other than it being a complete blast to play, is that it exposes today's youth to dozens of examples of GOOD music, from a time and place when actual talent was required to be a musician. Notice: not a sign anywhere of Britney, boy bands, or any of the typical atrocious pop that passes for music these days.
If you haven't played Guitar Hero, an explanation of the game won't do it any justice. It's like swimming in the ocean, it can be described a million different ways, but until you've experienced it, you have no idea.
This newest Guitar Hero doesn't seem to have that much more to offer, but it doesn't really matter. If they kept making Guitar Hero II over and over again with a new set of songs, I would buy every one. (The original Guitar Hero's multiplayer mode isn't as good as GH II.) There are new characters, new styles, guitars, and of course songs. But none of that really matters, because once the notes come flying at you, you won't even notice who you are and certainly not what you're wearing!
This new version supports multiplayer online play. Online play seems to be all the rage these days, but it's just not my thing. But the option to be able to play with a friend (or a stranger) in a distant part of the world only adds to the value.
The biggest, and to my knowledge, only problem with Guitar Hero III for Wii is that currently you cannot buy a second standalone guitar controller. My favorite part of Guitar Hero is the multiplayer mode, where you can compete or cooperate with a friend. Especially since Guitar Hero III has a COOPERATIVE CAREER MODE, you'd think offering a standalone controller at release would be a no-brainer.
If you've read this far, you've already wasted too much time. You could have been half way to the store. Go, go NOW! You won't regret it.

Guitar Hero III vs. Rock Band for WiiReview created: 07/23/08

don't know what happened but the plastic instrument game bug bit me a few weeks back and within 1 week I bought Rock Band AND Guitar Hero III for the Wii. To break it down:
Guitar Hero III
Pros: Very fun to play; the guitar feels sturdier than Rock Band's; the character options and in-game animations add an extra level of fun.
Cons: The song selection is limited (and what's up with no on-line song buying option?)
Rock Band
Pros: Needless to say having the full band (drums, mic, and guitar); the drums in particular are a blast; larger song selection than Guitar Hero III; personally, I prefer the bands and songs on Rock Band and there's a better mix of classic and contemporary rock
Cons: Like GH III, cannot buy songs on-line; characters, animations, touring are embarrassingly generic and the graphics look pretty bad

Game needs more!It is a fun game but it lacks on the Wii what other consoles have... DOWN LOADABLE CONTENT!!!

Used guitarhero game for WiiThis was a great purchase for us. We just got the Wii and my daughter really wanted GuitarHero. We looked to find it on sale a never did. Even with shipping, this still saved us about $25. The game was in excellent condition except it had the stickers pasted allover, so we just cleaned them off. Its just fine. We also purchased a skin(design cover) for it and it is now just like my daughter had bought it brand new! Alot of these games are out there and prices really vary. We could have paid more and got one that was like new, but wouldn't have saved anything. We really picked through them and found a few we wanted to bid on and got the third one we bid on, at a better price than some of the others. We are totally happy! Ciao

Guitar Hero III Wireless GuitarMy daughter loves this item, so I bought another one. I have a hard time playing with this, but maybe it takes practice to develop a skill for this item. I like that it is realistic. Easy to use and easy to play for the younger crowd.

Guitar Hero 3 legends of rock for the Nintendo WiiI purchased guitar hero for the wii simply because it was desired by my family. It would be nice if there were other versions available instead of the same era of music over and over. My husband, an accomplished actual guitar player, is having a problem on anything but easy. My child, also plays guitar, gave up after trying and trying the easiest song and she's seventeen.
so I think it is a difficult game - one of those you spend a hundred bux on and its new for a bit - then sits. only time will tell but I see it just leaning against the wall while Wii Fit or Golf is being played.

This game is alot of fun! They have greatly improved everything. Guitar hero I was good but lagged alot this one is perfect. The wireless guitar can come apart so it is much easier to store. Also the songs are great! I can not wait for number 4!

Guitar Hero for Wii. Legends of RockI bought this for my 13 year old daughter for her birthday, and she absolutely loves it! She and her friends jam out, and they think they are rock stars! I love to have something for to do with her friends in my home, rather than running around in the streets. If you have a Wii, then I definitely recommend this game!

A tad more than average...Though this is an extremely entertaining and addicting game, our version has a mild tendency to skip or go out of synch with the chords on the guitar. Upon researching this, I found it's more common than I initially thought. Also, and this is a matter of personal preference, but the characters and background are somewhat dark and brooding. There is very much a representation of the "demonic flair" that is often associated with hard rock. Nevertheless, it's a lot of fun to play.

It takes a bit to get through the crappy old songs, but once you do it has some wicked new stuff (disturbed). Don't get me wrong it has some pretty sweet classics too (Iron Maiden).
