Greg Hastings Tournament Paintball Max'd is probably the best paintball game on the market. If you like paintball, then you will like to play this game. There are some improvements over the old one. You can call out and tell your teammates where your opponents are. You can also tell them to move up, or attack. The game is also much more fun to play and doesn't get as repetitive as the old one. There are much more guns to choose from, but your teammates are all the same. It basically has the same graphics so no improvements there. Also, it is longer, and if you beat it, you can go to it on hard mode and play it again. Overall, if you like paintball, you should buy this game, or even if you just like shooting people, buy this game.

  A Great First-Person Shooting Game

We bought Max'd because we already had the first Greg Hasting's Tournament Paintball for XBOX. We mostly liked the fact that there can be multiple players, so that there can be four team members playing at the same time. Instead of having to sit back and watch the action. The XBOX Live is a great addition also, sometimes it's fun to get whooped up on by someone from around the world. What we didn't like was the fact that you can only play in a tournament once, and once you win that tournament you're stuck with that position. You can't go back and play them again, and make more money off of them. The actual first person point of view is awesome, and we spend a lot of time playing this game. We can't wait until they release another one!

Great price for a good game.

Causes problems with other game saves on my console. The only way to fix this was to delete all of your previous saves... not fun. It is updated from the last game and you can control your teammates now, which is cool.

If you can't go paintballing that one day when you don't have enough money for regular paintball, you can still satisfy your craving with this game. Pick from pro players, make your own player and pick his/her ger, and A TON MORE (trust me). Just buy the game, it's great!

My son had been looking for this game for quite while in all of the video stores but couldn't find it. He was quite frustrated, so I mentioned that he should look for it on Ebay. He stated that they wouldn't have it either because the game wasn't being made anymore. Anyway, I looked on Ebay the next day for him and found several of them listed. Needless to say...he was very excited to hear that I had found it. I chose this particular seller because he has a good feedback score and seemed to care about his customers. It was an excellent & smooth transaction with great communication. My son is very pleased with his purchase.

This game is amazing. Although its not as updated in guns and stuff the new one will be soon. its the best paintball game of the market. you play in real tourney around the world as a pro player and build your skills as a player. the online mode gets even better. as you play people all around the world you build skills that will help you in the caree mode. Although it maybe a little fustrating playing with kids with turbos shooting a billion balls a second its amazing how much and addicting hte game is

Okay, so here we have the latest installment in the greg hasting series. It is available on X-Box, GBA, Nintendo DS, and PS2.

Controls-
Right off the git go the controls are very forgiving. Though the learning curve may seem steep. What, with snap shooting, diving, sprinting, and reloading to think about it can seem quite overwhelming. But the boys at activision have taken great care to make the controls as natual as possible. In my opinion they have done quite well, because within a few minutes you will get the hang of it and be mowing faces in no time.

Graphics-
The graphics are good, but nothing to write home about. They do their job and make the game look nice, even if it's not amazing.

AI-
The AI is MUCH better than in the last game, but still suffers from the same schizophrenic tendencies that plauged the last game. The players on your team always seem to be all in sinc and rockin down the field. Or they just stand up and get shot on the break. The opposing team seems to do the same thing, so I guess it almost evens it out ;D. But I will say, that there are times when you can really feel yourself playing against the computer and being suprised at how well he will react to you. Playing his bunker and moving up on you, not just running behind something and snapping. The computer controlled players offer much higher competition levels than in most normal shooters. This is deffinitely good for the players who are using this game to hone their skills.

Gameplay-
This is where you will love or hate this game...For the die-hard tournament paintball player this game is a must have. It does a great job of recreating actual tournament environments and the ability to control your breakshooting with the breakout manager can this game almost a training tool for your own team. But if you are the kind of videogame player that wants lots of vastly different and immersive environments, you may want to look elsewhere. It can get quite repetative, but you have to remember this is a SPORTS game. And it is treated as a "tournament" paintball game.

The Good and the Bad!-
All in all, activision has created a solid shooter with some cult following flare. I believe despite it's few faults, this is the game the real paintball players out there have been waiting for. And the additional live action footage intro is very fun for paintball players to watch. But I also think that the game offers quite a bit to intrigue even the most die hard FPS fans. All in all I'll rate this game fairly high because I think a game that comes from such a nich genre and shines the way Greg Hastings TP-Maxxed does, deserves the credit of a 4/5! ;D

For my son and my first experience it has hoocked us to the game more than ever. We are more aware of products, game formats etc. a lot of fun and parents should have a handicap advantage, I keep getting creamed on the video by my son. Not in real life dough :-)

Greg Hasting's Tournament Paintball MAX'd (Xbox)
Review created: 09/11/06

WOW! I just played this game for the first time. After reading about it for weeks, I thought I would give it a try. I was not surprised, it was the best game out for paintball that I have ever played.
The live mode is the best. You can talk to your teammates and tell them positions just like in the real tournaments. The coolest feature of this game is the cheat mode, once your hit (and it's not in the head) you get a window that pops up giving you a chance to wipe off your hit and keep playing, but be careful! If your caught cheating (by not properly wiping off your hit) you will get a major penalty.

Speaking from years of tournament experience the boys at activision did a good job, and I know Greg Hastings (pro paintball player and founder of REDZ paintball gear, and now R7)was a huge part in the making of this games features.

Greg Hastings Tournament Paintball Max'd : Well, almost

Max’d was published by Activision and developed by WXP Inc. who also did The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings for Xbox. This is the same team that released the first Greg Hastings Tournament Paintball last year so they know what they have to build off.

Like the first version you build a character and start a career. You are forced to play tournament after tournament. There really is no story or environment developed. You just continue to play tournaments to collect cash to use at the store. You also receive experience points that allow you to improve your characters attributes. Game play can get a little boring as your only real motivating factor on going through the tournaments is to get enough cash to buy the top of the line gear in the game’s online store. You do feel driven to continue, to do better, to finish first and win the cash. After all, that is how you are going to get the cool stuff at the store! Take away the greed factor and you find yourself playing a first person shooter that tires out pretty quickly.

There are 29 different tournaments to play with 213 fields. That does keep it somewhat fresh. There are going to be a few fields that are too big, too small or too whatever for your particular taste but with so many fields to play you will find several you like as well. Along with the new fields Max’d offers you several new paintball markers to play with as well.

You can also choose to play online with Xbox’s Live network. This was the salvation of the original GHTP (Greg Hastings Tournament Paintball) with over 100,000 Xbox players spraying paint on Live. Online play adds vibrancy to a game that can seem to dredge along at times. The human element to the game is what makes paintball so fun in the first place. On Live you will feel the adrenaline flow and the actual excitement of Max’d will come out. The same fields that are available off line are there to play on Live. There are even a few more but I will get to that in a second.

Game play is further enhanced on Max’d by adding a breakout manager. This allows you to plan your team’s first moves out of the box. You can pick where your players are going to set up after the start whistle. The control does not stop there either. During the game you can still give orders to your players as well call out where the opponents are bunkering. Team orders are given by pointing and hitting a button or by voice command if you use the Communicator Headset (not included). WXE improved the AI of the game and players act smarter by hiding and moving to improved positions though the AI is not even close to the fun of playing human opponents.

A cool thing that the folks at WXE did was to add a custom field editor. Thank you! This does help to make the game a bit more addictive. You are able to build a field for tournament play available in the exhibition or Live modes of game play. The fields are based of size (3 to choose from) and you are able to select where to put bunkers. Before you finalize your design you are able to walk through the field or get a bird’s eye view of it.

Final Thought

Max’d all and all is a good game. The fun factor only lasted a few days for me and I was bored with it. I still play Max’d but the challenge of it is gone for me. Online play on Xbox’s Live network is the only thing saving Max’d from going to my local used game store on trade in.

  Greg Hasting's Tournament Paintball Max'd

I have played paintball for years and saw the air-techs playing this video game down at the pro shop.
After about 5 minutes I asked them what they where playing it looked awesome.
They told me what it was (Greg Hasting's Tournament Paintball Max'd} and that it was a great paintball video game.
I then went to all the local electronic stores and tried to get this game.
B-Buy, C-city, C-USA, K-Mart, Target, G-Stop etc. and could not find it.
I then searched E-Bay and found it new & used and it was cheaper even with shipping cost.
This is an awesome game if you like paintball, the graphics are very good and the game play is smooth without any hangups or glitches that I have found.
This is a first person shooter game and you pick your team from players that are available and as you advance you can pick better more advanced players.
You pick your equipment that you use and again as you advance you earn cash to buy better stuff.
One word of warning this game is addictive and you can play until 4 in the morning.
Been there done that. :)~

Greg Hasting's Max'd (Good, but not quite there yet)
Review created: 06/18/06
5 of 7 people found this review helpful.

Greg Hasting's Tournament Paintball Max'd (Xbox) is an addictive first person shooter type game. It varies from other run-of-the-line games in its genre because it incorporates sport, instead of missions fighting terrorists/crime etc. Its style is fresh and entertaining...definately a good alternative to other sports games like NHL 2006 or FIFA.
Its gameplay is entertaining and captivating, but somewhat lacking. It is not the most realistic in its recreation of the sport itself, but is fun nonetheless. It has an awesome soundtrack that never seems to get old, but the side comments and remarks made by the announcer sure do.
It also incorporates the tournament style play that allows the user to earn cash, which can be used to buy gear, including markers, pants, and other necessities. However, there is an utter lack of good equipment, especially high quality paintball guns. It is clear to see who sponsored the game the most (Tippman). Tippman has like 5 markers available to buy, although they only offer a few different variations in real life. Well known brand names are noticibly absent from their small selection.
Though the game does have its weaknesses, but it is entertaining and worth purchasing for a mid-range price ($15-$35). It has made improvments over its predecessor, and I am certain that the next version will be one step closer to a perfect recreation of this glorious sport.
