Okay, so here we have the latest installment in the greg hasting series. It is available on X-Box, GBA, Nintendo DS, and PS2.
Controls-
Right off the git go the controls are very forgiving. Though the learning curve may seem steep. What, with snap shooting, diving, sprinting, and reloading to think about it can seem quite overwhelming. But the boys at activision have taken great care to make the controls as natual as possible. In my opinion they have done quite well, because within a few minutes you will get the hang of it and be mowing faces in no time.
Graphics-
The graphics are good, but nothing to write home about. They do their job and make the game look nice, even if it's not amazing.
AI-
The AI is MUCH better than in the last game, but still suffers from the same schizophrenic tendencies that plauged the last game. The players on your team always seem to be all in sinc and rockin down the field. Or they just stand up and get shot on the break. The opposing team seems to do the same thing, so I guess it almost evens it out ;D. But I will say, that there are times when you can really feel yourself playing against the computer and being suprised at how well he will react to you. Playing his bunker and moving up on you, not just running behind something and snapping. The computer controlled players offer much higher competition levels than in most normal shooters. This is deffinitely good for the players who are using this game to hone their skills.
Gameplay-
This is where you will love or hate this game...For the die-hard tournament paintball player this game is a must have. It does a great job of recreating actual tournament environments and the ability to control your breakshooting with the breakout manager can this game almost a training tool for your own team. But if you are the kind of videogame player that wants lots of vastly different and immersive environments, you may want to look elsewhere. It can get quite repetative, but you have to remember this is a SPORTS game. And it is treated as a "tournament" paintball game.
The Good and the Bad!-
All in all, activision has created a solid shooter with some cult following flare. I believe despite it's few faults, this is the game the real paintball players out there have been waiting for. And the additional live action footage intro is very fun for paintball players to watch. But I also think that the game offers quite a bit to intrigue even the most die hard FPS fans. All in all I'll rate this game fairly high because I think a game that comes from such a nich genre and shines the way Greg Hastings TP-Maxxed does, deserves the credit of a 4/5! ;D
