Recently, we saw Simply Red on TV performing in concert in Italy. We had not previously seen the group perform and we were moved and impressed by the strong, credible passion and emotion Mike Hucknall has for the music. Even though this CD is a "greatest hits" type, it manages to give a good cross-section of the groups style and song types. This is a collection we will not tire of.
This is a fantastic CD! Mick's voice is smooth and very soul baring and one can't help but sing along while enjoying his melancholy ballads. A+++ on this CD!

Simply Not Enough

Pros: Easy to listen to
Cons: These are the best?
I bought this CD because I had always liked what I had heard from Simply Red. I only recognized three of the song titles, but that didn't really worry me. The tendency of DJ's today is to never tell the name of the artist or song after the first time they play it, so I figured there were probably songs on this CD that I knew but didn't know the name. As it turned out there weren't. Now granted, about the only time I get to listen to the radio is in the car, so I might have missed something. On the other hand, I'm not completely out of touch either. So I'm wondering why a "Greatest Hits" would.

Effortless Beauty - SIMPLY RED in its best

Pros: Many superb Pop songs that work well in both dancefloors and sweethearts
Cons: Not all the hits - and the present ones sometimes miss the target

When GRUNGE took charts by storm circa 1991-1992, they were releasing sophisticated Pop singles recalling ARETHA FRANKLIN and STEELY DAN, alongside some dancefloor favorites. Even after GRUNGE faded and ELECTRONICA raised, they sticked to their winning formula: tasteful, state-of-the-art Pop Music. Mick Hucknall, their singer and bandleader, is a genuine stubborn kind of fellow. As the owner of a blessed pair of lungs so smooth and seductive, employed to its full...
