Loved the old movie, and adding this to my movie inventory was great! Thank you for the opportunity. I haven't watched this copy as yet, but packaging was good and I expect it will be super.

What is there not to love about the original Grease! The cast rocks, and so do the tunes!!! This is, one of those classics that sits in a collection of best musicals ever....

Succeeds in spite of many, many problems

Pros:
A very entertaining musical which appeals to nostalgia fans

Cons:
Good grief -- Disco!; sends and absolutely horrible message; cast is a bit old

This is one of my wife's favorite films and, indeed, I loved it as a kid. Heck, I still enjoy it, even though the film has a ton of problems. Amazingly, it succeeds in spite of sending a horrible message, casting folks too old to play high school students, letting John Travolta sing and tossing in elements of damned disco all over the place. Grease, released in 1978, is set in the 1950s and centers around the on-again, off-again romance of Danny Zuko (played by John Travolta) and Sandy (Olivia Newton-John). The film starts with Danny and Sandy having a big, fun time over summer vacation. At...

  Grease is the Word!
Review created: 02/22/03

Pros:
Songs, direction.

Cons:
Pretty fluffy and unimportant, and the actors are too old for their parts.

The musical genre was in the basement during the seventies, eighties, and nineties, until the apparent renaissance of such films like Moulin Rouge and Chicago. Back in the good old days, all sorts of musicals were hits, and award-winners, and even in the 1960 s, The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, West Side Story, and Oliver! were huge Oscar winners. But these movies turned out to be the last gasp of a popular genre -- more realistic movies, and the counter culture movement, created an environment where bursting into song seemed more than fanciful, but ridiculous. It s interesting to note that.

Pros:
Catchy soundtrack. Stockard Channing.

Cons:
World's oldest high school students.

Following our Italian adventures, the European location unit for Goodfollies had one final stop before returning home to the United States and studio work. We all headed off to Barcelona for a few days. Here, we shot the most elaborate of the musical numbers for this epic tale of lady mobsters in New Jersey, a complex aerial ballet using silks, trampolines and the flying trapeze, performed amongst the spires of Gaudi's masterpiece, La Sagrada Familia. The producers chose this location as the organic forms of Gaudi's architecture, with their dream like quality (even in their unfinished state)..

Grease: Ever Think Of It This Way Before?
Review created: 09/29/01
by: Thorbjore -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Catchy songs. Chemistry between main characters. I love it.

Cons:
Sandy's poor self-esteem. Rizzo's promiscuity.

Have you ever considered the fact that Grease may very well be a bad influence on children? Don t get me wrong. Grease is one of my guilty pleasures in life (as a rule, I generally hate musicals). But I ll bet you ve never thought of it this way: (Oh! If you ve never seen this movie then don t read this. It gives up practically every detail and is more of an analysis about whether children should watch it. Okay? Are they gone? The ones who ve never seen this? Let s proceed!) Sandy moves to the US from Australia. Frenchie, the Beauty School Drop Out, asks Riz if she could become a Pink Lady..

Pros:
full of songs and dancing, funny

Cons:
none

I first saw this movie back when I was in middle school. It was the "in" movie to see. Especially because it was staring John Travolta whom I had a major crush on. Grease is basically about high school students. Among its stars is Olivia Newton John. She acts as a transfer student that spent the summer with John Travolta. When John Travolta discovers that she is at the same high school as he is, he acts indifferent to her presence. Yet, he can't keep his feelings towards her a secret for long. When Olivia Newton John,Sandy, begins to go out with a football player. John Travolta shows sings..
