First of all when I read the intial review I thought I have to have the movie, but when I watched it is was rather dissapointing. John Cusack is trying to keep the movie alive with some good acting. But the whole plot is a bit unrealistic. All in all I would say rent it instaed of buying it. Dissapointing.
I bought this movie because my significant other wanted it, and you can't find it in stores: item was new as described.. and seller shipped item out promptly.. making it a smooth transaction.. A1
I love John Cusack and thought the subject of this movie very interesting, but I was disappointed that it was a "just OK" movie. I'm not sure what was not to like, but it was just lackluster. It was a low key movie, the right style. Maybe it was the chemistry of the actors?
It was a good movie and I couldn't find it anywhere. So I went on ebay and found it and thats why I bought it. The movie is good and it was a fast order. Nice to do business with and will do again.....
There are many stories that tell of the tragedy of war, but not many that tell of the tragedy that befalls those left behind.
How do you deal with one of life's most difficult tasks, telling the children that Mom is not coming back? Grace is Gone tells this story, and tells it in such as way that it will warm your heart even as your heart is aching.
Highly recommended for a strong performance by John Cusack (The Father), Shelan O'Keefe & Gracie Bednarczyk (The Two Children). And for someone finally telling a story that needed to be told.
Excllent film for all to see. Real life drama to lose someone dearly in war and what to do when little ones are involved. Highly recommended movie to see.*****************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
While the story is a sad drama that unfolds after the death of a mother (and wife) during the Iraq War, the underlying theme is a more universal one -- i.e., about the enormous difficulties of coming to grips with the sudden loss of a loved one. John Cusack and the 2 young actresses (Shelan O'Keefe & Gracie Bednarczyk) give believable performances as the family of the military mom who was killed in action.
Cusack shines in his role as the grief-stricken husband who struggles mightily to find the right time and circumstances for telling his daughters about the death of their mom.
At the end of the film I could not help but wonder how and when the 3 surviving family members would reach some degree of acceptance of their tragic loss. I was left with the impression that the 3 of them would become a more closely knit, caring family.
I recommend watching the special features after viewing the movie. While they are relatively short, they add a degree of poignancy to the film and provide additional food for thought about the deeper meaning and implications of such a deeply felt loss.
