You've never heard Elton's classic like this before. If your system is up to the test, this is as good as it will ever sound on CD. Made from the original studio master tapes, and transfered to CD with as little compression as possible. If you have a true audiophile system, like Nakamichi, Rotel or Arcam, it's well worth it. If you bought your system at a box store, just buy the commercial pressing from Amazon. Because you'll be wasting your money.

Pros:
Timeless and probably Elton's best album.

Cons:
Depressing at times, it can get too mellow!

Thrown forward as one of the greatest self made singer/songwriters of the twentieth century, Elton John was, to most, that geeky, yet overly flamboyant looking guy in larger than life sized spectacles jumping wildly at a piano. Forever set in ebony and ivory along side the likes of Billy Joel and Stevie Wonder, these men were the innovators of the legendary MOR, or as we lesser mortals know it, middle-of-the-road music. After tripping over the writer, Bernie Taupin in 1967, the two were soon to become almost as household as the Lennon and McCartney machine. Shelling out bluesy rock, to prog,..

Pros:
70 s music you can listen to without being embarrassed. Funeral/Bleeding: best of the best.

Cons:
Bennie and the Jets, title track are overplayed pieces of garbage

Okay, what is the first thing you think of when I say 70 s music ? Disco crap, and we need to stop perpetuating the myth that it was all that existed back in those bad old days. For example there is 70 s muzac that plays in the hallways of the corporate giant that I work for, and most of it is pretty bad. Just what I DON T want to hear when I am walking down the halls is Undercover Angel , Funky Town , or anything by the Bee Gees. But this 70 s (originally) release by Elton John is one that can be listened to yet today without cringing. As a double album (relatively expensive and rare back in.

Pros:
Great album by a great musician. Classic.

Cons:
None

Elton John is one of the greatest musical talents alive today. He has been producing wonderful music since the late 60's and is still at the forefront of the music industry. Just this year he was number eight of the top ten money earning musicians in the world. His album "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" is great example of his early work as well as a stupendous preview for current projects. Seventeen tracks including the original "Candle in the Wind", "Bennie and the Jets", title track, "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road", "Saturday Night's Alright(for fighting)" and many others. From the epic "Funeral...

Pros:
It's MFSL!

Cons:
None

I've been a fan of MFSL ultradisc CDs since 1988. Yellow Brick Road was one of the first ones I bought. I must admit, I'd only heard EJ's hits until I got Yellow Brick Road. I was blown away. The clarity of the CD and the quality of the music was incredible. Funeral for a Friend never sounded so good! This is one of those CDs where every song is great. I could go on and on about each song, but you'd have to hear it yourself to understand. Now that MFSL is out of business, this CD is especially hard to find. Actually, it was out of print a long time before they went out of business. If your...

Pros:
Everything

Cons:
Nothing

I love this album. I love Elton John. I love his music. Elton voice has so many different levels. If you listen to "Crocodile Rock" and "Sacrifice," it's hard to believe that it's indeed the same person singing both songs. This album has so many great songs. The ones that made him famous are here, such as "Bennie and the Jets," "Candle in the Wind," and "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road." Each song is special. It's so much fun to drive down the road and blast "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road," especially when you get to the part where you can howl along with him... If you like this album, listen to his...
