Although somewhat slow-moving at the beginning, Gods and Generals is an excellent depiction of life in the army, and specifically of Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, and Lawrence Chamberlain. Ron Maxwell did an excellent job casting. Stephen Lang's performance is stunning, as is that of Cali Rocha as Mrs. Jackson. The script is well-written, and the movie is quite historically accurate. Definately a wonderful movie for any Civil War lover!
This movie was great! Most of it centered around the Battle of Fredericksburg, one of my favorite battlefields to visit. Being from Virginia, I appreciate all the hallowed battlefields and this one is top notch. Actors were great! A very small segment of the film was filmed in my hometown of Winchester Virginia. Some of the scenes in the movie of the battle of Fredericksburg were shot at Harpers Ferry--so anyone who knows that area well could relate and say "Hey, that's not Fredericksburg!" Other than that I would rate this film five stars!!!
