God Grew Tired of Us:REALITY CHECK (Highly Recommended)

This documentary was phenomenal. It brought tears, smiles, heart-wrenching guilt, and most of all - HOPE to my family. I showed it at the end of the year to my High School juniors after finals and they overwhelmingly said that it was incredible, perception-changing, and enlightening regarding the world outside of the U.S. For generations of self-absorbed, self-indulgent Americans who take our quality of life for granted, it is a true Reality Check that we have it better than we know and that, unfortunately, we are oblivious to how difficult life on this planet can be outside of our life of comfort.

The video tracks several 'Lost Boys' through their journeys (from exodus from Sudan to refuge in Ethiopia to a long term refuge in Kenya to their eventual destination of the U.S.) and covers their struggles and victories for several years in Pittsburg and Syracuse. Their struggles with our culture (often eye-opening regarding our negative aspects) and their lucid observations astound throughout the movie. Their obligation and sense of responsibility to each other and helping their families is sobering and refreshing in the midst of an overwhelmingly apathetic period of American history.

Lastly, their complete honesty, warm hearts, forgiving attitudes, and genuine, overflowing love and sense of brotherhood will surprise most people and endear them to your heart (if you are like my students). Their sense of HOPE, despite their torturous past and tumultuous present inspired and motivated me to monitor more closely and get involved in world struggles and gave me a much broader perspective on my own worries and the things I stress about. The movie will undoubtedly have the same impact on most.

An excellent documentary. Sad and eye opening, but also humourous in its own way. The light moments are much needed. I donated money to International Rescue Committee.

The movie takes you through a journey, showcasing the shocking treatment of Sudanes Southerners. The subsequent re-location of a select few provides for some humrous viewing at times as the "Lost Boys" adjust to life in the modern world. All in all a tragic story that leaves you with a positive energy in the end, and a sense of responsiblilty to make a difference in your life!!

  EVERYONE Must See this, PERIOD

This documentary is not something to try and make you cry about images of flies, starvation, war and death. This film shines a bright light on the human soul and what any person can achieve if they so desire. The heights a person can reach when they have purpose and reason.

This film makes you think. Makes you say, "Ooh, Wow, that's grand scaled reality!" Full of emotion.

You will stand in the mirror when this if over!

This is the most moving story, narrated by Nicole Kidman, of the worst and the best of humankind! These beautiful children, overcame unimaginable obstacles in order to survive, and then succeed, with compassionate hearts! I loved this story, and it stays with me, deep in my heart!

Pros:
Strong, Powerful, Emotional Documentary

Cons:
some startling film footage

Imagine a decree that states all male children, regardless of age, must be killed. Imagine that one method of choice is to lock large groups of these children in houses and set them on fire. Imagine 2,000,000 people, men, women, and children, have died. Imagine that those males allowed to live must have holes drilled into their testicles to sterilize them. There is no need to imagine, it is a reality. Surely, it is not happening now or in recent history. Wrong. The Lost Boys of Sudan National Geographic Films brings the story of Daniel, Panther, and John to the screen. These three young...
